.......would you vote the same as you did originally?

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 18/07/2018 09:35

If there was another referendum and remain won, the minority who still voted leave would presumably feel very strongly and be (understandably) extremely angry. That would worry me.

That's all quite flippant which is fine but I actually do think there would be a lot of unrest. We think the country is divided now but it would be nothing compared to after another referendum if remain won.

Colbu24 · 18/07/2018 09:45

Leave, leave and then leave again.

scaryteacher · 18/07/2018 10:12

I'd vote leave again.

Is Claig in the ether again?

Claig was banned by MN after numerous complaints from remainers like you who could not tolerate a difference of opinion. Her posts were never snidey and insulting as some of the posts on here - she just stated her case and that caused the usual frothing at the mouth. It was the doing of Remainers who got her fired from MN.

I was reading Michael Moore’s prediction of the 2016 election and was reminded of Claig

Giving similar reasons as to why Trump would win

Michael Moore also predicts Trump will win the 2020 election given the the economy is doing well

I always found Claig or Claigs post interesting

rocketpocket · 18/07/2018 11:09

Things I'm still waiting to happen:

Donald Tusk, European Commission president (I don't remember voting for him, do you?) said western political civilisation would be destroyed if the UK voted 'Leave'

David Cameron, who didn't quite say the words "war^^ will break out" but who did say:

"The serried rows of white headstones in lovingly-tended Commonwealth war cemeteries stand as silent testament to the price that this country has paid to help restore peace and order in Europe.

Can we be so sure that peace and stability on our continent are assured beyond any shadow of doubt? Is that a risk worth taking?
I would never be so rash as to make that assumption.

It’s barely been 20 years since war in the Balkans and genocide on our continent in Srebrenica. In the last few years, we have seen tanks rolling into Georgia and Ukraine. And of this I am completely sure.
The European Union has helped reconcile countries which were once at each others’ throats for decades. Britain has a fundamental national interest in maintaining common purpose in Europe to avoid future conflict between European countries."

I don't know about you but to me that reads like he's suggesting if we leave the EU peace it at risk and therefore war is more likely to happen. Of course he's too smart to actually say "world war three" but it's definitely implied, isn't it? So I'm still waiting for that to happen.

I'm still waiting for George Osborne's tax rises.

That immediate recession. I know you'll say it's because we haven't really left yet but before the vote it was suggested we'd all be in a recession the day after the vote... still waiting.

They said the EU could be reformed from the inside. I'm seeing no evidence of that being remotely possible. The EU is a power hungry bureaucracy that will not be tamed.

All those job losses. Isn't unemployment at its lowest rate?

My husband and I have both had pay rises this year. In the NHS! So we're not £4000 per year worse off this year.

I'm still waiting for Scotland to leave the UK. That's looking less likely after the last election, isn't it?

When will that massive fall in house prices come about?

I'm not still waiting for that EU army though, that Junker has proposed. The one that Clegg said would never happen. Think he said it was a dangerous fantasy...

🙃

Voted Remain and will do again

BrittW · 18/07/2018 11:15

Yes, Claig was definitely productive. For months MN was getting complaints about her because she kept posting about HER point of view. Instead of engaging properly with her, you threw your toys out of your various prams. Why? ...... because you are intolerant of another's PoV. I blame the state education, which started brainwashing around the mid 70s, I'd say. You are so inculcated into thinking in one direction, that some of you are unable to consider anything else.

I have a friend of 70, she is a millionaire communist who never gives to charity, does not believe in it. She's smart and sometimes I see her struggling against her rigid belief system in conversation. Sometimes she agrees with me on many, many things and you think OMG there's been a breakthrough - but No, tomorrow she is back to her communist red line, because exercising a bit of commonsense in complex issues feels disloyal to her.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/07/2018 11:22

And on MN we have long-serving bots - check out the Westministenders thread. That was originally started many months ago by Leave supporters but hijacked by Remainers. The latter were welcome to participate, but they didn't want that, they wanted to take over the thread and they have.
I recognise many of the names, and I can bet your bottom dollar that nearly half of the posters are originally from non-EU nations via Europe. That is their reason for being Remainers.

What was that you said again, Britt?

starlight2017 · 18/07/2018 11:23

Yes

BrittW · 18/07/2018 11:24

Que, Helmet?

chicaxe · 18/07/2018 11:25

Yes.
Voted leave then and would do so again.
I think the EU has some good points, but overall I think its decision making is poor and the Eurozone and FOM has been disastrous for the economies and well-being of many countries. I think most European countries would be better off if they were independent but with a common market.

Helmetbymidnight · 18/07/2018 11:30

I mean: You were talking crap then, and you are still talking crap.

The Westministers threads were started by Remainers. Did you not understand that?

You made a bizarre accusation that they are bots. Can you provide evidence? they are long-standing posters on lots of threads.

You made a bizarre accusation that they are remainers because they are originally from non-EU nations. Why are you making this shit up?

derxa · 18/07/2018 11:30

No. I voted remain. Now, having seen all the tantrums being thrown by the remainers, I have to vote against them. Also, the EU looks like a failing project. They only vote to support Germany and France. The rest of us don't matter. They have made that very clear.
I'm the same. The EU has shown its contempt.

chicaxe · 18/07/2018 11:31

Also, why all the doom and gloom. If Japan can have a trade deal with the EU, why can't post-Brexit Britain?

Helmetbymidnight · 18/07/2018 11:36

Also, why all the doom and gloom. If Japan can have a trade deal with the EU, why can't post-Brexit Britain?

The Japanese business community are really not happy about Brexit some are thinking of leaving the country.

But hey, why the doom and gloom!! Brilliant trade deals! Far far better than any we've ever had.

StrangeLookingParasite · 18/07/2018 11:36

The EU has shown its contempt.

No they haven't. Your insane goverment has repeatedly shown its arse though.
Usual comments about pissups in breweries apply.
