Just catching up on the news tonight. Another Brexit bill passed, more progress. Looks like the ball is back in the EUs court, either agree a good deal or we are leaving on WTO rules. TM lives to fight another day, remainers are freaking out all over the news.

I expect remoaners to continue to get increasingly hysterical the closer to Brexit day we get and as every Brexit bill is passed.

Peregrina · 16/07/2018 23:15

I look forward to seeing you whining in two years time fangirl when you find that you can't travel easily, or need to pay for a visa. As for the NHS - let's hope you don't have anything serious healthwise.....

Apparently TM came up with her Chequers plan, and that is now dead.

Confused Obviously remainers dont like it because it means we will be leaving the EU, and 'some' leavers dont like it because it not a complete Brexit (all expected). But the middle way is not dead until the fat lady sings, and TM is not for turning yet.

Whats ironic is that JC could have buried it in the vote tonight, but Labour chose NOT to. What does that tell you?

Brexit is coming home!

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 02:54

Brexit is coming home!
10 days ago we could have believed you, but if it's like the Football, instead of the Great Prize you will come away with nothing. Although our footballers have behaved with much more decorum and team spirit than our politicians.

MrHoolieswaistcoat · 17/07/2018 06:43

TM is not for turning. If you’re trying to compare TM with Thatcher, I think you’re sadly mistaken. Much as I detested her, Thatcher was a ‘conviction politician’ who stuck to her guns - to her own detriment in the end as she refused to budge on the poll tax. There is no way she would have been effectively held hostage by a tiny faction of her party.
TM has ‘turned’ more times than any PM in living memory.

frumpety · 17/07/2018 06:50

Interesting Fangirl you are accepting that the 26% of the population who voted to leave , didn't all vote for a no deal scenario, I am curious to know what % of those who voted leave did ? A smaller % than 26% . So this 'will of the people' rhetoric is getting more nonsensical by the day.

bellinisurge · 17/07/2018 07:11

This stuff isn't hard because Remainers are forcing her or the process. This stuff is hard because this stuff is hard. Anything other than a hard Brexit is hard.
If you want a hard Brexit then your wish might come true.

54321go · 17/07/2018 07:21

Mrs Thatcher has the nickname of the Iron Lady (in polite circles).
Mrs May in contrast will be 'Mrs fudge U like'.
The EU 'red lines' are a lot more firm than those of Mrs May.
Still, poverty is what you voted for so that is what you will get, in bucketfuls.

jasjas1973 · 17/07/2018 07:47

Not this remainer!
i 'm looking forward to it (in a morbid sort of way) long ago gave up thinking Brexit would'nt happen, so bring it on!
A WTO brexit too, because that according to Justine Greene, is what people voted for, so give them what they want.

bellinisurge · 17/07/2018 07:52

Also think "bring on your worst". Not planning to fight for Remain. We lost. We're leaving. I hate it. I think it's a stupid mistake but part of me wants to see how fucked up it's going to be. I have zero sympathy for anyone who feels negative effects if they voted Leave.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 17/07/2018 07:56

I pretty much feel the same. At least with hard brexit the pain is immediate. Anything else is kicking the can down the road and everlasting limbo. I'd like to think that people would learn a hard lesson from all of this but no doubt it'll be somebody elses fault.

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 07:57

I agree with jasjas.

The WTA doesn't cover aviation. If you can't fly to your holiday destination next year, then whine away and I will remind you that this is what you voted for.

If you can't get a hospital or GP appointment because of staff shortages then remind yourself if you ever blathered about 'soverignty', 'taking back control' or 'too many immigrants', that this is what you voted for. Own it and deal with it. It doesn't matter whether people who voted Remain do or don't get hysterical - take the lead in bringing about what you voted for.

Little bit of info regarding trade with the EU and the rest of the world. Boring actual facts Grin

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 08:10

We are wasting our time frumpety - the Leavers who post on these threads now don't do facts, just slogans. The thoughtful ones who might be prepared to engage left these threads at least six months ago.

frumpety · 17/07/2018 08:12

Wouldn’t it be quicker to start from scratch?
Even the nuclear option – a hard Brexit followed by reliance on existing World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules – could take years to achieve. The first, and more surmountable, problem is that Britain is a signatory to WTO deals through its membership of the EU.
Assuming other WTO members agree to overlook this and transfer existing rights to Britain without seeking to unpick unpopular elements, there is an even bigger problem. This relates to the import and export quotas shared among EU member states. In the case of lamb, for example, the WTO schedule permits 283,825 tonnes of sheep and goat meat to be imported duty-free into the EU from 14 countries, ranging down to just 100 tonnes from Greenland.
British farmers would need to fight to secure their share of this existing schedule to export into EU and non-EU markets, a fiendishly complicated prospect just in one small agricultural category.

From a different source , and still boring actual facts Grin

jasjas1973 · 17/07/2018 08:40

It is a sad fact that many who voted leave, will be dead before its true effects will be known....good or bad.

Who gives a shit about farmers? they also voted as a block for brexit, even if their union the NFU, sat on the fence!

surferjet · 17/07/2018 09:19

The thoughtful ones who might be prepared to engage left these threads at least six months ago

Absolutely - & I’ll tell you why they left, because they were fed up with the trolling & abuse from remainers, many of whom are hysterical at best, at worryingly unhinged at worst.
You only want leavers to post so you can attack them. The intelligent ones worked that out pretty quick & walked away.
& who can blame them?

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 09:25

Funnily enough, surferjet, your name wasn't one which came to mind when I spoke of thoughtful ones. I would dearly like them to come back - and tell me whether they think what appears to be a complete car crash, with a Tory party fighting like rats in a sack, is what they hoped for, or expected.

surferjet · 17/07/2018 09:28

I know I wasn’t because I still post on here, I’m just telling you why the intelligent ones left.

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 09:30

So are you saying you are not intelligent surferjet? I think footballers would call that an own goal, because no Leaver to my knowledge has said that of you.

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 09:32

Or Remainer that I know of!

surferjet · 17/07/2018 09:33

I’m no where near as intelligent as most of the other leavers who used to post on here no. & I don’t think there’s anything wrong in admitting that.

Peregrina · 17/07/2018 09:40

But unless you were in touch with them, you don't know why they no longer post.

A couple of who I would have considered extremely well informed Remainers no longer post. I think one went abroad, and another was ill, but otherwise, I have no idea why they stopped posting.

frumpety · 17/07/2018 09:49

It is never a waste of time to talk about the facts regarding what different Brexit scenarios will entail.
