Bit late and didn't realise the last thread was so close to the end... so this is a very quick OP

Maybe so but if you were going to put money into an expensive luxury flat would you want to stay in London post HARD brexit which is what (some) want?
Look at the job security though. Apart from scientists actually working at the plant it would need security guards outside for tens of thousands of years.

Peregrina · 05/07/2018 10:15

Apparently David Davis now thinks that the EU would reject May's compromise plan. Of course, he doesn't come up with any workable suggestions to replace her ideas.

GladAllOver · 05/07/2018 10:20

We ALL know that the EU will reject the plan. It's been clear from the start that they will not allow us to pick and choose.

54321go · 05/07/2018 10:28

Even the 'please miss my dog ate my homework' has more credibility than this.

prettybird · 05/07/2018 10:30

I know: so much energy and angst and news coverage over an option (and other options) that the EU has already said will not be acceptable. Confused

And not a single interviewer or TV presenter mentions that Angry

RedToothBrush · 05/07/2018 10:31

Nick Cohen @ nickcohen4
Mail journalist to me last night on the panic the imminent arrival of Geordie Greig is causing: "All the leavers are becoming remainers. It's the only way they can remain in their jobs"

Oh my!

A bit too late for Battersea Power station.

Nine Elms/Battersea is currently being developed. Lots of luxury flats, restaurants. It is now home to the America Embassy which is next to Battersea Power Station.

nineelmslondon.com/

Battersea Power Station will have luxury flats, theatre, art galleries , cinema. It is a major building project.

Unfortunately it is absolutely horrid; concrete and glass jungle. A bit like Dubai on Thames. An opportunity to build affordable housing for
Londoners has been missed. Thanks to Boris Johnson and Wandsworth Tory council which is headed by Ravi Govindia.

54321go · 05/07/2018 10:46

I was merely pointing out yet more hypocrisy that anything dirty or dangerous 'has' to be done well away from London.
When Mrs May pulls the plug on the UK no one will either have money for, or want to live in luxury flats in London.

GladAllOver · 05/07/2018 10:50

Thanks to Boris Johnson and Wandsworth Tory council which is headed by Ravi Govindia.
No different to adjacent Labour controlled Lambeth, that is demolishing and gentrifying Council estates against the wishes of the tenants, and converting libraries to privately run gyms.

grannycake · 05/07/2018 10:52

*A "pipeline" of EU doctors and nurses will be needed after Brexit due to staff shortages, the group representing Welsh health bodies has warned.

(contd)

Hard to muster any sympathy when it's what they voted for*

I'm Welsh - voted remain as did most of my family and colleagues. Welsh results were split depending on area - Gwynedd, Cardiff, Monmouth and Vale were all remain as were parts of Swansea and others. My own constituency in Gower was Leave but by a margin of 50.1 v 49.9. Don't write off a whole country please

TatianaLarina · 05/07/2018 10:55

Which is exactly what happened at Grenfell. Kensington council were waiting for it fall down so that it could be demolished. Local library sold off to Norland Place school (one of the K&C councillors had children there).

Grenfell is logical conclusion to these policies.

DGRossetti · 05/07/2018 10:56

Don't write off a whole country please

Brexiteers did that.

grannycake · 05/07/2018 11:06

Brexiteers did that

I see what you are saying but it does not help - all people will be affected by the consequences whether they voted remain or leave. Saying you all brought it on yourselves is not helpful. I am a passionate remainer and I have been a long term lurker on these threads but as a human being I can't say to Brexiteers "well you brought it on yourselves" when they don't have health /care services/medications etc

DGRossetti · 05/07/2018 11:13

I can't say to Brexiteers "well you brought it on yourselves" when they don't have health /care services/medications etc

In that case you're a better person than I ...

DGRossetti · 05/07/2018 11:18

Apparently David Davis now thinks that the EU would reject May's compromise plan.

So The Secretary of State for Exiting the EU (whose job it surely is, to put the UKs plans to the EU) is quite able to hole Theresa Mays "Big Idea" below the waterline ? WHAT THE FUCK IS HIS JOB ???????

Also, why on earth is Theresa May not only allowing, but rushing to the front, in getting her name onto a surefire failure ? Isn't that what DD is there for ?

I appreciate she's only playing to the front row, and this is clearly a stage-managed look at the nasty EU, they won't even respect our Prime Minister type ploy. But even so.

Or is it intended to demonstrate to the JRM cabal that there's simply no getting what they want ? Not with this government anyway.

woman11017 · 05/07/2018 11:23

Saying you all brought it on yourselves is not helpful
I agree, and playing into the AI operations that Carole Cadwallada has investigated. Leave cheated: spent 10% more than legal to 'win' by margin of 3.8%. Interview yesterday on channel 4 news. Including the Leave voting 'whistle blower' Shamir Sanna, who still believes in voting leave, but fairly.
www.channel4.com/news/vote-leave-used-beleave-as-way-to-overspend
Psy ops weren't used in 20 century warfare because regimes were kind.
Leave voters were cheated just as much as the rest of us.

woman11017 · 05/07/2018 11:26

Insulting so called 'leavers' helps no one. We're working hard to support the many brave 'Remainer Now" folks. They are absolutely key.

54321go · 05/07/2018 11:41

@DGR
I think you are just 'nitpicking' there about DD.
I think Mrs May has a cunning plan. On the final afternoon before delivering the UK 'verdict' and plan, she will 'forget' to come back to the UK and with some forged papers live somewhere in a quiet corner of Europe under a new name.
I sometimes forget why I go upstairs for things, it can happen to anybody.

GladAllOver · 05/07/2018 11:50

May will be satisfied to have finally got a plan to put to the EU.

She knows that it will be rejected, but that will be "the EU's fault for being unreasonable and beastly to the UK".

topcat1980 · 05/07/2018 12:17

No deal is imminent.

The cliff edge approaches

A short sharp shock to the system and people will clamor to be back in.

BigChocFrenzy · 05/07/2018 12:21

Her masterplan may be dumping DD - at last - and all his little helpers,
but it's worrying that this new dept was set up specifically for no-deal

Shadow Brexit team prepares for no deal

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/shadow-brexit-team-prepares-for-no-deal-j0m7m89ch?utmsource=newsletter&utmmcampaign=newsletter119&utmmmedium=email&utmcontent=119905.07.2018%20Red%20Box%20NHS%20(1)&CMP=TNLEmail11891883682783_119

The government has set up a shadow Brexit unit outside the department in charge of leaving the European Union, amid concerns that it is still unprepared for the challenges of no deal.

An EU exit capability team, based in the Cabinet Office, was quietly established in May to provide support for the most complex and sensitive Brexit contingency projects.

The creation of the unit has led to renewed speculation inside Whitehall
that the Department for Exiting the EU itself will be abolished and responsibility for co-ordinating Brexit after next March will move to the Cabinet Office.

DGRossetti · 05/07/2018 12:24

I think you are just 'nitpicking' there about DD.

With the emphasis on "nit".

lonelyplanetmum · 05/07/2018 12:25

Short ( hopefully) sharp shock.

I've come to the conclusion that's the only thing that will silence the warring Tories.

Except the shock may be quite prolonged as we'll have to renegotiate our membership (without rebates). Then we'll have to consider the Euro issue.

DGRossetti · 05/07/2018 12:26

www.theregister.co.uk/2018/07/05/no_deal_adequacy_data_brexit_eu_uk/

The UK government has been told to urgently start negotiations for a data adequacy deal with the European Union – or risk damaging business and placing a prohibitive burden on small firms.

(contd)

Fuck business.

DGRossetti · 05/07/2018 12:55

The BBC was carrying a front page (above the fold) story earlier about Theresa Mays wanting to run her "new" customs plan by Angela Merkel before submitting it to the EU.

Nowhere to be seen now.

Hmm
