Westmistenders: 'No Deal please; We're British'

It has to be said that its almost as if Tory Rebels are too polite to challenge the PM.

But the stakes are getting higher and higher as it becomes more and more apparent that it is a clear choice between a chaotic no deal situation or a BINO and there is no alternative to that.

If the Tory Rebels don't show their grit and are not prepared to be as strong in their determination as the Brexiteers - out of almost politeness and obligation - then No Deal awaits.

As things move forward, the threat to May once again re-emerges too. If May doesn't do what the ERG say they are minded and will try to oust her. They have nothing to lose by it.

The Tory knives are hidden behind backs one again. Waiting.

Which way will the Withdrawal Bill go? Which way will the Trade Bill later this month go?

We are running out of time and options: for either a deal or no deal.

Time has already run out for many ordinary people - they just might not know that yet, but the decision has already be made about their future.

lonely wow.
This is basically sayingbthat the HoC has no power anymore re Brexit.

And Brexit was about sovereignty? Sovereignty of what? Certainly not the people :(:(

I’m getting more and more anxious and fearful of the future. In near panic mode actually.
What happened yesterday was a farce of democracy.

RedToothBrush · 13/06/2018 11:51

Harry Cole @ mrharrycole
The fight goes on.. and could spell trouble for Mrs May this morning. Senior Brexiteers are convening in Owen Paterson’s office right now to compare notes on what they were each told last night and prepare a coordinated response... 💣
ERG bigwigs believe they would have had the numbers - JUST - to see off a rebellion with help of labour (who only managed 298 on meaningful vote). Especially after they played ball on letwin amendment with Morgan on Monday night...
They will be seeing an explanation from Morgan and Whips on what happened to the tacit deal they had that they would play ball on customs in return for support on meaningful vote.... this is is going to rumble all day.

Why would you do that if you had 'won'?

Bit late, but if you can hear any of jamesob right now it is a gripping show today.
Smile Glaswegian sisters, (I lived there till the age of 12, it's in my blood) You've made me smile today, I'd love to come 'home'.

woman11017 · 13/06/2018 11:54

Still jealous of your garden prettybird it's beautiful.

BigChocFrenzy · 13/06/2018 12:03

user That is precisely the point:
foreign workers are paying for current NHS budgets
So they are paying twice over, via their taxes and then via an annual payment

Many of them are NHS doctors & nurses who are keeping the damn system going

Most countries have a 6 month or max 12 month period, before immigrant workers can access a state system, just the like the naive population
That seems fair
What the UK does is unfair and unusual

lonelyplanetmum · 13/06/2018 12:04

I posted this morning "Still pondering yesterday. This DEXEU statement is very odd following on so soon after votes in the Bill. Either:

  1. DD is defying the PM as he disagrees with her promises to the rebels. Or
  1. TM sanctioned this statement and got DD to make it for her to weasel out of platitudes she gave the rebels."

It's clearly 2.

DGRossetti · 13/06/2018 12:06

Not sure where I heard the joke, but someone was grumbling that NH waiting lists would dramatically change after all the immigrants had fucked off. Which they did - from 6 to 18 months ... who do you think was doing all the work ?

Tanith · 13/06/2018 12:09

Is it just me, or are there some rather peculiar posters on the AIBU thread?

One would almost think that English is not their first language...

mrsreynolds · 13/06/2018 12:13

What time is it in Moscow!!?

BigChocFrenzy · 13/06/2018 12:16

Absolutely shocking at the contempt Unionist MPs have for Scotland and its MPs Angry
It's Scotland that seems a "vassal" state. Of the UK

In great contrast to the long-suffering patience & courtesy shown by Barnier's team to the UK,in the face of stupidity and reneging

TheElementsSong · 13/06/2018 12:20

One would almost think that English is not their first language...

Some of those posters on that thread... it'd be better for my mental health if they were shills, than to think people like that really are all around us (I feel sorry for anyone who might be mistaken for a German, to say the least).

DGRossetti · 13/06/2018 12:20

Has the UK reneged ? You need to formally agree for that. Something the UK - almost conspicuously - has failed to do. Luckily no one else the entire world has noticed how pisspoor the UK is at negotiating, or else we'd be in real trouble.

Not sure why anyone was surprised the Russians feel at liberty to do whatever they like in the UK. After all, what are we going to do ? Send in David Davies ?

I take you are being sarcastic?

lonelyplanetmum · 13/06/2018 12:32

Barnier has been unbelievably patient and courteous reiterating the indivisibility of the four freedoms. It's not difficult, but our states people seem forgetful each round of meetings they attend.

RedToothBrush · 13/06/2018 12:34

Speaker just kicked the SNP leader out of the commons during PMQ!!!

Not sure why. Just wlked in the door.

Laura Kuenssberg @bbclaurak
Ian Blackford calls for an emergency debate - says he has ‘no option’ but to ask House to sit in private after devolution debates were so squeezed last night - Bercow says no for now
This is about the fascinating procedure of an SO24 - application for an emergency debate - because oppo parties asked for individuals votes last night it meant time was super squeezed
Chaos as Bercow trying to work out what to do …
Bercow decides to grant vote but at the end of #PMQs rather than now
Blackford refusing to sit down - SNP MPs barracking and clapping him - chaos - Bercow furious ‘don’t tell me what the procedures of this place are’
Is he going to kick him out?
Blimey - Bercow has just kicked out SNP leader - and being followed or by the rest of the snp MPs

Paul Twinn @PaulTwinn
SNP MPs are now in Central Lobby applauding Blackford. Now with Norman Smith on the BBC News Channel.

David Allen Green @davidallengreen
SNP have a legitimate complaint about time for debate on Brexit, and should have forced the vote at the end of the PMQ session. In principle, they were right.

But that all just looked daft.

OP posts:
RedToothBrush · 13/06/2018 12:39

Kevin Schofield @PolhomeEditor
Dare I suggest that being thrown out of the chamber was precisely what Ian Blackford wanted? John Bercow played straight into his hands. #PMQs

OP posts:
prettybird · 13/06/2018 12:39

Ian Blackford was demanding a division for an emergency debate because of the lack of debate allowed to Scottish MPs last night when Westminster voted away the devolution settlement.

Calyx · 13/06/2018 12:40

I think it's the only way SNP could get the devolution issue reported in the media maybe? Quite clever.

RedToothBrush · 13/06/2018 12:41

Kevin Maguire @Kevin_Maguire
Forcing the Speaker to kick him out so SNP MPs can walk out of the Commons chamber is the first thing Ian Blackford, the party’s Westminster leader, has done that anybody’s noticed

Jack Evans @jackcevans
This is all very 1988 budget debate. Google it. Partly how @AlexSalmond became a national figure.

LittleBlackKitten · 13/06/2018 12:41

Well done SNP! Honestly, what's the point in us being there if we are held in contempt anyway?

user1486062886 · 13/06/2018 12:42

lonelyplanetmum And TM has reiterated her red lines,

RhuBarbarella · 13/06/2018 12:43

I sort of hope the SNP does not rejoin parliament. Do as Sinn Fein and just do not take the seats.
