It has to be said that its almost as if Tory Rebels are too polite to challenge the PM.

But the stakes are getting higher and higher as it becomes more and more apparent that it is a clear choice between a chaotic no deal situation or a BINO and there is no alternative to that.

If the Tory Rebels don't show their grit and are not prepared to be as strong in their determination as the Brexiteers - out of almost politeness and obligation - then No Deal awaits.

As things move forward, the threat to May once again re-emerges too. If May doesn't do what the ERG say they are minded and will try to oust her. They have nothing to lose by it.

The Tory knives are hidden behind backs one again. Waiting.

Which way will the Withdrawal Bill go? Which way will the Trade Bill later this month go?

We are running out of time and options: for either a deal or no deal.

Time has already run out for many ordinary people - they just might not know that yet, but the decision has already be made about their future.

Woman - prices in the West End are still pretty high by our standards . Southside/Shawlands/Pollokshields is much better value. Grin

Here's a picture of our garden to tempt you Wink (Half a Victorian stone villa/2 large reception rooms/3 bedrooms/study/dining kitchen, all that garden and shared with downstairs front garden, garage, in a conservation area; I think at the moment worth about £400k, maybe a wee bit more given the offers over system .)

You'd be most welcome! Smile

And yet we return to the NHS as a predominant factor?

Once the £350 million a week is sent to the EU, let's spend it on the NHS, got put on the side of the bus, the NHS became inextricably linked to Brexit. How many Leave votes did it garner? Enough to tip the balance, I would imagine.

The NHS is something people care about - in the main, the EU isn't.

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 13/06/2018 10:37

woman I may be missing something obvious here (brain worn out by sleepless nights over all this ☹️) but why Scottish Independence declared yesterday .... Other than the need to break free from looming disaster?

Waves to pretty across M8

DGRossetti · 13/06/2018 10:41

Is it just me, or are there some rather peculiar posters on the AIBU thread?

prettybird · 13/06/2018 10:45

Devolution was killed yesterday without a debate Angry. Or rather, the Government claims there was a debate, but only allowed 15 minutes and just one speaker from the SNP.

And when Ian Blackford complained, one Tory MP said his only recourse was suicide Shock

This was my MP's take on it: "As Ian Blackford MP asks the Speaker what options are open to Scottish MPs to get a proper debate on devolution & Brexit - after it was cut to 15 minutes - a Tory MP shouts ‘suicide’! Utterly appalling." (And no, the Speaker didn't call out the Tory MP for being out of order Angry)

Tanith · 13/06/2018 10:47

The trouble is that basically honourable people find it difficult to accept that close associates can be dishonourable towards them.
They support TM and expect integrity and promise-keeping in return.

Calyx · 13/06/2018 10:51

Woman yes come up. We have Harris Gin Gin and you others are welcome as well.

Prettybird your garden is gorgeous.

I am horrified at how Scotland was treated at Westminster yesterday. When asked what options were left for our MPs a Conservative shouted 'suicide'. Bercow doesn't bother to stop it eitherAngry. I want Scottish MPs to withdraw from WM. We get no respect.

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 13/06/2018 10:52

mrsreynolds · 13/06/2018 10:52

I think I might just have to pretend it's not happening....

Nothing to see here.

As you were.

I think it's the only way for me to keep at night/stay sane...

DGRossetti This a big thing in the construction industry, many if not most sub contractors are made to be self employed in name only, they work for the same company every day, paid a flat rate, have to supply their own tools and equipment, for the bosses it’s great, no emp ni, sick pay, hoiladay pay, no ppe to buy, lay the men off when the weather is bad, snow etc, it leaves the government with less tax and NI contribution, All of these bad work conditions while still in the EU, workers rights

Is it just me, or are there some rather peculiar posters on the AIBU thread?^

The Trump thread yesterday got pulled for having 'more puppets than Gepetto's workshop' or something along those lines and that AIBU thread feels the same to me again. Hmm

mybrainhurtsalot · 13/06/2018 11:04

I was looking up the Pimlico Plumbers chap as I had a vague idea he switched from leave to remain. I was wrong about that, looks like he’s always been remain, but was formerly a big conservative donor & has now switched to Lib Dem. Anyway, in the course of that, I found the following Telegraph article:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/eureferendum/11927989/Pimlico-Plumbers-chief-Charlie-Mullins-resigns-from-Business-for-Britain-over-EU-exit-campaign.html

Check the graph part way down the article. The EU was not an issue in June 2015, but EU support rapidly plummets after that. What triggered that? The migrant crisis? Or is it that the Conservatives we’re elected with a promise to hold a referendum in the manifesto so suddenly loads of money was put into turning public opinion? Just seems really bloody fishy. Angry

LittleBlackKitten · 13/06/2018 11:18

WhatWouldScoobyDoo Westminster yesterday basically ripped up the devolution settlement in a 15min "debate", with the minister filibustering so that no Scottish MPs got a chance to speak! It is outrageous that they removed powers from the Scottish Parliament in this way. To make matters worse, Scottish Labour and LibDem MPs abstained, and the Jo Swinson's justification is that by voting against it would be denying the Welsh Assembly what they wanted! FFS she's supposed to be a Scottish MP, not Welsh!

The worst thing though is our media up here - if left to them, no-one would know! It is fucking shameful what has happened re Scotland. The utter contempt that Westminster holds us in just makes independence more likely. Devolution is dead.

Remember in the indyref we were told - stay with us, more powers, most powerful devolved parliament in the world, equal partner, don't risk your EU membership!! What a fucking joke!

Honestly, if we don't grab the independence lifeboat next time then hell mend us!

I think one of them must be the editor of The Express.

prettybird · 13/06/2018 11:20

user...2886 - and that is a reason for the UK leaving the EU why? Confused

There is nothing stopping the UK government cracking down on those abuses now if it wanted to. It chooses not to Confused

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 13/06/2018 11:21

CakeGinBrew to mrsreynolds , lonelyplanetmum and all others losing sleep and sanity. I wish there was a real place to meet up for cake/tea/gin and companionship, as it feels like a bit of a lonely vigil watching events unfold. (Bizarrely I’m imagining this place to be the meeting room in our local library Grin Confused)

WhatWouldScoobyDoo · 13/06/2018 11:26

kitten thank you for the full details. I checked the media and saw - nothing. Unbelievable!

Peregrina · 13/06/2018 11:30

Part of me wishes that we would crash out and crash out badly, which will be the only way to make us come to our senses. With BINO, the hard right will still go on and on and on and will never be satisfied.

user1486062886 · 13/06/2018 11:31

prettybird, it’s not a reason for leaving, People keep on about workers rights if we leave the EU, they are not that good now

user1486062886 · 13/06/2018 11:33

Peregrina, yes, there is no easy answer to this, once we let the cat out the bag, it will take a very strong leadership or a very strong and united government,

lonelyplanetmum · 13/06/2018 11:35

..let's spend it on the NHS, got put on the side of the bus, the NHS became inextricably linked to Brexit. How many Leave votes did it garner? Enough to tip the balance, I would imagine. The NHS is something people care about - in the main, the EU isn't.

The lesson learnt is that anyone with an agenda (like Farage remember him) just needs to link their message to something that people care about and the public will engage. It doesn't matter if the subject matter is otherwise completely unrelated.

The suicide comment with regards to Scotland and devolution is appalling. If Ian Blackford had simultaneously mentioned the NHS perhaps that would attract meaningful debate.
