Westmistenders: 'No Deal please; We're British'

It has to be said that its almost as if Tory Rebels are too polite to challenge the PM.

But the stakes are getting higher and higher as it becomes more and more apparent that it is a clear choice between a chaotic no deal situation or a BINO and there is no alternative to that.

If the Tory Rebels don't show their grit and are not prepared to be as strong in their determination as the Brexiteers - out of almost politeness and obligation - then No Deal awaits.

As things move forward, the threat to May once again re-emerges too. If May doesn't do what the ERG say they are minded and will try to oust her. They have nothing to lose by it.

The Tory knives are hidden behind backs one again. Waiting.

Which way will the Withdrawal Bill go? Which way will the Trade Bill later this month go?

We are running out of time and options: for either a deal or no deal.

Time has already run out for many ordinary people - they just might not know that yet, but the decision has already be made about their future.

I prefer hairless men too.

I would make an exception for aiden Turner - although I only like him as a dwarf or vampire niche tastes 😁

Thank you RTB, whoever you are.
I did not vote as at that point I had some more pressing things going on in my life and did not receive my poll card. I would have voted remain and still would in a way that is very firm, I moved to Europe.
Having traveled quite extensively in Europe and witnessed the practically seamless transit between countries and integration I was appreciative of it. I also used to travel much further afield to lands where you need passport checks, paperwork, carnets and so on, thus highlighting the ease within Europe.
Listening to Any Questions just now, I am perplexed by the concept of fining MPs for not voting with the leader. That is not democracy surely? Maybe it is if you equate it to the Russian model, vote with me or prison.
The British government model relying on conflict between parties for the sake of 'political points' rather than actually working out what is best for as many people as possible is wrong. Surely it should be that any politician who proposes what appears to be a good idea should be supported by others and only knocked back if it can be shown why it was not a good idea. Where are those damn unicorns when you need them?
Has anyone seen any estimates of how much this fiasco has cost already, bearing in mind Brexit hasn't started yet?

Tambien · 16/06/2018 18:10

I agree go, the political system in the U.K. is actually very similar to the one in the USSR. Follow the leader or else.
The only thing we Have is two parties instead of one but once said party is in power, it’s not so dissimilar.

A few years ago, the ‘opposition’ made it look like there was some power at play and gave a bit of balance.
Since the referendum and JC actually being a leave voter, ther is no opposition at all and everyone is expected to just sing along the tune of the Leader.

Danniz · 16/06/2018 18:10

Really agree with this, 543. The horrendous point-scoring, jeering at people, you're either a winner or a loser, uber-competitiveness. I think that public schools and Oxbridge are partly to blame for this. Eton certainly has a lot to answer for, enabling these people, perhaps bringing out the worst in them. I really hope that they are doing some soul-searching.

I would make an exception for aiden Turner
I see what you mean MrsR

@Woman11

(as in please don't).

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 18:48

...although in my happy place he looks like this...

54321go · 16/06/2018 18:52

And my tea is a sort of sausage casserole.
I suppose it could have been 'cock oh van' (spelling deliberate).
Speaking of which, what's happening with Brexit news today and we need an alert for RTB for yet another thread title before long.

Icantreachthepretzels · 16/06/2018 18:56

I think the chest hair issue is very important... I am pro chest hair on all men. But I am not Pro Aiden Turner... he looks like David Walliams and I don't understand why other people can't see it. Same eyes, same mouth.

And Flowers for doing the food bank stuff, MrsR a bloke on James O' Brien show about DWP on Friday phoned in. Living on noodles supplied by neighbour as no food bank in his area. I think he'd had no payment from DWP for 6 monts. You're saving lives.

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 19:25

woman

Thank you.

We raised over £300 today 😁

Sadly a lot of people here don't think we need a food bank. Almost as if the town us "too good for that sort of thing" 😩

We had one guy come in, give a donation then say he didn't believe in foodbanks! 🤔😯

Universal credit rolls out here next month.

Our neighbour county were one of the pilot areas. Footfall to their food bank has gone up 60% since its introduction.

I've seen the referral forms from the job centre myself...
"9 week wait for UC" is pretty standard
😡😔

We might be being filmed (!!?) For the holiday hunger initiative I'm running. Must arrange it for the week I'm not there...😁

SusanWalker · 16/06/2018 19:36

You are a star MrsR. I used a food bank one summer holidays. We got a small food parcel of pasta/cereal and pasta sauce and beans every week to replace their FSM. It was very helpful. I am dreading being moved into universal credit. I am hoping that as I am on carers allowance i won't be moved over for a while. It's criminal that people are being left to starve in a rich country like ours.

lettuceWrap · 16/06/2018 19:53

Omg, that picture of Aidan Turner, I almost fainted with delight Shock, I love a hairy man (literally as well as figuratively).

SusanWalker · 16/06/2018 19:54

Trouble at Labour Live

Mark Di Stefano 🤙🏻

@MarkDiStef
Richard Brooks and Will Dry (pictured) say they unfurled the STOP BACKING BREXIT banner in the crowd and were labelled as conservatives by a man nearby. The whole group is now being kicked out of Labour Live. Wild.

As someone commented underneath people have been thrown out of Labour
Live for opposing Tory policy. Madness.

lettuceWrap · 16/06/2018 19:54

Kind of off topic tho!

I don't know Lettuce, perhaps if the government got Aiden Turner to announce brexit was being called off, whilst topless and scything a meadow, it might work.

lettuceWrap · 16/06/2018 19:59

Worth a try, certainly Grin

54321go · 16/06/2018 20:00

@Lettuce
I think French men seem to be a bit hairier than typical UK men (Categorically not done a survey myself) so leaving the EU will reduce the temptations (or make it more expensive to travel to be tempted).

woman11017 · 16/06/2018 20:01

Footage of OFOC campaigners singing a new song to o jeremy corbyn, at the celebrations of the great leader.
They were then 'escorted out' for opposing tory policy.
Funny old world.

@WillDryOFOC
The best thing about our and @FFSake
Labour Live Stunt? Many of the (labour) crowd said “well done” , “we understand” as we were escorted out !

54321go · 16/06/2018 20:04

'Britannia rules the waves' will become 'Britannia rules some waves'.

lettuceWrap · 16/06/2018 20:10

mrsreynolds · 16/06/2018 20:10

Well...thats a brain fuck isnt it??

Being thrown out of a labour group for opposing Tory policies!?

susan I'm hoping the lunch club helps with the families who get fsm.

I have to say the most vocal and helpful support has been from the churches.

Such a shame I'm a heathen 😁
