Westmistenders: 'No Deal please; We're British'

It has to be said that its almost as if Tory Rebels are too polite to challenge the PM.

But the stakes are getting higher and higher as it becomes more and more apparent that it is a clear choice between a chaotic no deal situation or a BINO and there is no alternative to that.

If the Tory Rebels don't show their grit and are not prepared to be as strong in their determination as the Brexiteers - out of almost politeness and obligation - then No Deal awaits.

As things move forward, the threat to May once again re-emerges too. If May doesn't do what the ERG say they are minded and will try to oust her. They have nothing to lose by it.

The Tory knives are hidden behind backs one again. Waiting.

Which way will the Withdrawal Bill go? Which way will the Trade Bill later this month go?

We are running out of time and options: for either a deal or no deal.

Time has already run out for many ordinary people - they just might not know that yet, but the decision has already be made about their future.

At last, a breakthrough! Yes, there is no direction on Brexit. If you have no plan but you rush to implementation and refuse to examine (or even believe there could be) any risks, you will have major problems and businesses will make good on all the warnings they've been making for over a year now.

And that will harm the economy.

Imagine how much more harm will be caused if the government just carries on and pushes ahead in this state.

Buteo Yet again you are looking for the bit you want, a rise from $25-30 a barrel to $70-80 a barrel is going to have more affect than a few cents either way, and the p-D has traded between 1-25- 1-45 for about 2 years now

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 10:35

Let’s get on with it all pulling in one direction, then business and people can plan what ever the outcome

They are - businesses are leaving/divesting. Its the ordinary leave voters with no control/collateral left pissing in the wind. How ironic.

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:36

PineappleSunrise But do nothing is not helping anyone either, business are in a state of limbo, it cost millions and time to build new factories, just get on with it

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:37

GhostofFrankGrimes Well we might as well just get on with it if they have already prepared, what are we messing about at ?

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:39

GhostofFrankGrimes Be careful when you’re pissing in the wind

TheElementsSong · 14/06/2018 10:41

Let’s get on with it all pulling in one direction

What the actual friffing heck does this mean in practical real-world terms?

54321go · 14/06/2018 10:41

There is a fair chance that the statement' Britain's never had it so good' may be more prophetic about now even though it was written in an earlier time.

DGRossetti · 14/06/2018 10:45

I don't know. I imagine it's what Henry VIII said to Catholics. And when they didn't, he found a solution to the heating crisis of 1534

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:46

TheElementsSong For a start all the MP’s joined together helping to get the best they can from leaving the EU, after all they did by 545-45 give the public the vote, why now are they having fighting each other, That’s all leave and remain people get together stop name calling and try to help get the best out of the situation

lonelyplanetmum · 14/06/2018 10:48

it cost millions and time to build new factories, just get on with it

So a plan is emerging. We are replacing financial services and the departing car industries with something else made in factories.

Er what are these new factories going to be making exactly?

PineappleSunrise · 14/06/2018 10:48

You really think we're stupid, don't you user?

Doing nothing IS pursuing Brexit. That's the ERG plan, mate - that's why Rees-Mogg is telling his clients to put their money in Ireland to shelter them from Brexit, and why Redwood told his clients the same thing months ago. Because the PLAN is to do nothing and plan nothing and then after we crash out scoop up all the cheap assets (read: land, houses, bankrupcies) while Britons are too shocked, cash-poor, and struggling to get groceries to do anything about it.

If you personally want to be poor because it makes you feel all patriotic, be my guest. I won't stop you. But don't drag me back down with you and then tell me we need to 'pull together."

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:51

PineappleSunrise Unless your one of the lucky ones, you will be here with us all

PineappleSunrise · 14/06/2018 10:51

Yeah, loving these generic "factories" we're going to build to replace the ones that are already closing and relocating. It's never anything but shallow soundbite crap with nothing behind it, is it?

Oh, and undermining our parliament, law courts, MPs, judges, and civil servant. Funny how that doesn't fall under "pulling together."

Tambien · 14/06/2018 10:51

user you have a way to reduce the way you look at facts to just what fits your narrative that is quite impressive I have to say.

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:53

lonelyplanetmum I’m just trying to get the point that business have to make long term plans so they need to know what’s happening , why spend millions if you don’t have too

Butterymuffin · 14/06/2018 10:53

May's balancing act is surely on its very last run out now. Meanwhile Labour have been useless.

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 10:55

Butterymuffin What good would it do if May goes, we have still had the vote to leave the EU, obviously Labour want to leave as well

TheElementsSong · 14/06/2018 10:56

get together stop name calling and try to help get the best out of the situation

We don't even have a common definition of "the best" amongst Leavers let alone expecting everyone to "pull together" (again, precisely how ?) in one ( which ?) direction.

54321go · 14/06/2018 10:56

Despite Mrs May's obsession with clarity, there is still, 2 years on, no real clarity. NO business wants to stick their neck out and 'invest' (assuming banks will support their proposed investment as they are businesses too and subject to the same worries) and you can't sit on your hands for this length of time waiting for the government to 'get their shit together'.
In some respects declaring that from such a date ALL trade and treaties with the EU will cease would help companies/the market because although there would be one hell of a shock, people would know where they were going. Readers of history might like to paint a picture of sudden total isolation might look like. After a few weeks and probably a few deaths the 'ship' would right itself and a new order would commence. The question now is does the UK want to bleed to death over a few years or hit a wall suddenly?
The government are all pulling in one direction, the only problem is they are standing in a circle, net result is zero.

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 11:03

54321go Well said, the Parliament have been nothing short of a pile of shit,

user1486062886 · 14/06/2018 11:10

I leave you with this as I have to go to work, while there is still work to do.
If TM stood up in parliament today and said for the good of the country, we Are revoking A50( If allowed) I would have no real problem, we just need to get on with what ever we are going to do, 2 years has gone bye now and if anything we are no clearer,

GhostofFrankGrimes · 14/06/2018 11:11

54321go Well said, the Parliament have been nothing short of a pile of shit,

Prior to the referendum most MP's did not support leaving the EU. You are asking people to implement something they do not believe in and deep down know will damage the country.

GrouchoMrx · 14/06/2018 11:11

Meanwhile, Tory Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg has defended his City firm setting up an investment fund in Ireland after it emerged that its clients were warned about the risks of a "hard" Brexit.

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/06/13/tory-mp-jacob-rees-mogg-defends-setting-hedge-fund-branch-ireland/

It's comforting to know that Jacob Rees-Mogg will ensure his wealthy clients are shielded from the repercussions of the 'hard' Brexit so strongly advocated by him.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will just have to soldier on and bear the brunt of Brexit.

No surprise here.

No doubt Boris Johnson has made similar arrangements to protect his family wealth.

PineappleSunrise · 14/06/2018 11:11

Who's namecalling? I'm angry about what a horrible crash-out mess Brexit is, and I'm posting news stories that I've read that have fed my growing anger. I am angry at the people who willfully got us into this mess (hello, Arryn Banks).

I've been told I'm smug, middle class, and have a "narrative" because I am actually using my brain. And then told to stop using my brain and get behind whatever the incompetents leading us can rustle up on a fag packet at the last minute for reasons that have never been clear.

Is this like "fake news," when someone starts screaming about it it's because they've been peddling it?
