Ever closer to Brexit! 🥂 🍻 🍾

Remainers are welcome, as ever.

But!

If you just want to abuse Brexiteers, then start your own thread.

This is a pub thread, not an interrogate-a-Brexiteer thread

We have more in common etc, even if Brexit divides us.

WineBrewCakeThanks

Can you give more concrete examples, please

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 17:59

When a several country's said they didn't see the point of taking in immigrants as they wouldn't stay as their country's were not rich enough and would pay a fine... brussels threatened to take them to court...
Greece has been made to bend over backwards to be given loans. When would have been better off leaving the Euro... So they could sort the finances out...
Itally have said no to budget increases as not getting value for money...told they will be taken to court if they don't pay....

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 18:02

Yet France. Germany and others have trade surplus.. more than the agreed...Not supposed to yet nothing is done about .

bearbehind · 14/04/2018 18:19

The way they say something as if it is written then have to back track...

That is hysterical!

Did you read that summary a few weeks back about all the things our government have said ‘as if it were written then had to back track on’

You really only see what you want to see.

DGRossetti · 14/04/2018 18:27

When a several country's said they didn't see the point of taking in immigrants as they wouldn't stay as their country's were not rich enough and would pay a fine... brussels threatened to take them to court...

Was that "bullying" or simply reminding countries what they signed up for ?

I suspect Mummy would find it "bullying" if a traffic warden gave them a ticket for parking on a double yellow ....

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 19:09

If the people were sent there send then left ... why send them there in the first place?
Bullying will lead to no deal even Germans financial sector say hard exit...

JWIM · 14/04/2018 20:38

Still curious about the EU trade bloc bad, WTO trade bloc good point of view. Why is WTO better for the UK than the EU?

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 20:42

It isn't about good or bad...
We just want to leave the EU...
It was a trade market. And now it isn't just that it's just overtaking everything...

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 20:51

Overtaking everything? In what way?

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 20:51

Overtaking everything? In what way?

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 21:07

If you were buying something and selling would you let the person you TRADED with tell you who you could talk to... bank with and sleep with?

JWIM · 14/04/2018 21:14

The EU is a trading bloc in which we have influence and a say in the rules, UK citizens have a democratic vote and we have a role in the judicial process. The WTO is a trading bloc in which we will have zero influence, UK citizens have no vote and we have no role but will be bound by its judicial process.

The EU is not 'overtaking' anything now or in the near or long term future. No factual evidence - not misinterpretation of words - 'ever closer union' is not a political aim; no EU army - but we will work with our EU allies - reference last night, reference Nato membership.

JWIM · 14/04/2018 21:17

But the EU does not tell us who we can bank with and your other suggestion does not merit a response.

The WTO will tell us how we can trade with others and we will have no influence on any of those rules. Is that satisfactory to you mummy?

frumpety · 14/04/2018 21:17

Mummy I will stick with Marvin when it comes to being told who to sleep with .....

frumpety · 14/04/2018 21:18

Had a lovely holiday , not had chance to post as much as I would have liked , missed you all Grin

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 22:13

Bank with and sleep with? I'm not aware the EU has done that.

frumpety · 15/04/2018 08:53

As I have said before Mummy now the vote has been cast , you will have no control , zero, zilch, nada, over anything other than voting in GE's. Absolutely no control over trade deals regardless of who they are with or what terms they will be involve, the control has all gone , bye bye control, we had never really lost you, bit like sovereignty really Wink

Yaralie · 15/04/2018 15:52

I wonder if the huge pro-EU demonstrations all around the country this weekend will even be reported by the Brexit Broadcasting Corporaation.

The last huge demo was ignored. They preferred to report that stuntmen Farage and Rees-Mogg had thrown some fish in the Thames.

mummmy2017 · 15/04/2018 19:26

Frumpty quiet agree there is nothing anyone can do but wait... So all the protests will meet with no results.
But the way the EU is acting makes no deal more likely

bearbehind · 15/04/2018 19:34

mummmy, you can keep clinging to that hope all you like but it isn't going to happen.

We'll take whatever scraps we are offered in the end.

frumpety · 15/04/2018 19:35

Mummy maybe you are right , but if those with the power and control start to notice a sizeable shift in opinion then things might change, because they are used to that power and control and are probably keen on keeping hold of it Smile

frumpety · 15/04/2018 19:37

Anyway as I keep saying , it isn't going to happen, I am only on here because my 8 yr old has the debating skills of , well an 8 yr old and DH unusually agrees with me Grin

mummmy2017 · 15/04/2018 21:07

Lol frumpy... So pleased your like me and miss someone willing to argue with no side effects...
Bear you hold your line I will hold mine... But the fact Spain now has veto to block with regard to Gibraltar and Ireland on GFA means they may leave TM with no choice to but reject.. if no time left then no deal... She can't give in to all of it and she knows that...so don't count your chickens...yet

JWIM · 15/04/2018 21:14

Nor you, yours Mummy.

frumpety · 15/04/2018 21:47

Mummy the Conservatives are damned if they do and damned if they don't ! If they do , the ensuing economic Armageddon means they wont be in power for the foreseeable future , if they don't, the alleged current political climate means they are doomed for ever more. Win/win for the centrist like me Grin
