Ever closer to Brexit! 🥂 🍻 🍾

Remainers are welcome, as ever.

But!

If you just want to abuse Brexiteers, then start your own thread.

This is a pub thread, not an interrogate-a-Brexiteer thread

We have more in common etc, even if Brexit divides us.

WineBrewCakeThanks

For anyone thinking we would have to live on boring root veg. much of the year after Brexit. Our local green grocer is now stocking locally grown tomatoes and had them in till Nov. last year. This is in Scotland and it has been far from good growing weather here.
I bought British Strawberries the other day.

Talkstotrees · 13/04/2018 08:34

Why would we have to live on home produced food post Brexit? I thought the point was that we’d be free to buy our tomatoes from wherever the fuck we like without those pesky Europeans poking their beaks in.

bearbehind · 13/04/2018 09:44

double, it's only you who's been peddling the virtues of surviving on what we can grow ourselves.

Remainers never wanted it to happen and most Leavers still think nothing is going to change for the worse.

Last time i looked we can already buy fruit/Veg/wines/teas and coffees from around the world, cheaply and plentifully, Tesco etc has shelves of the stuff....thank our lucky stars we never joined the EU or we d stuck with just european shitte lol.

Cobblersandhogwash · 13/04/2018 16:22

Whoopsie

And I already buy fruit from all over the world. The EU hasn't stopped me from doing that. More bull.

mummmy2017 · 13/04/2018 23:52

Spain have a veto.
Ireland have a veto...
EU say more rules...
We get fishing back.....
Germany saying prepare for hard exit.
Anyone else think the EU are setting it so no deal happens but it's not there fault....

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 08:31

Well they can do what they like. We chose to leave. Or rather the will of Cambridge Analytica.

If we are such a potent country, what does it matter what the EU want or do. We are Great Britain, remember? We roar and the world listens. Doesn't it?

And naturally, the EU is going to do everything in its power to protect its members from any fallout. That's what it's supposed to do, as a bloc.

Talkstotrees · 14/04/2018 08:44

Not entirely sure what you mean mummmy, but if you’re suggesting the EU want ‘no deal’ you are very wrong.

(I don’t understand the fishing reference)

I thought initially that your post was a list of Brexit positives - you know, the ones I asked for so that I can get behind Brexit - but no Sad

bearbehind · 14/04/2018 09:15

Aside from the fact that post doesn’t make much sense mummmy it sounds very much like you’re getting a bit rattled as you realise you’re not going to be getting what you want.

Mistigri · 14/04/2018 10:13

^Spain have a veto.
Ireland have a veto...^

We'd have a veto if we weren't leaving. Your point is? That the EU is a democratic institution that takes account of the wishes of its member states?

bearbehind · 14/04/2018 10:26

This sovereignty thing is going well isn't it?

That actually just appears to mean we do what TM wants and democratic processes go out of the window.

Which wouldn't be half as bad if she had a reputation for good judgement.

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 12:50

Just listing the points in papers today...
Since I want no deal . Not the arm twist....mess . I am not rattled rather happy actually...
Spain could derail agreement...
Ireland have said they will.
Fishing is being returned... So Holland could derail it..
EU saying we HAVE to accept more rules they just thought off...
Wow the EU 27 are sure pulling together.... to force a no deal....

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 12:54

Tough tits, isn't it? We are out of the club. That's what we wanted.

Out of the club means no preferential treatment.

Don't start bleating about it.

Cold, hard world of trade and tariffs out there.

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 12:57

Everyday another member a new demand......
Hence why said from day one all that talking will end in no deal.... hard exit...
Well seems more and more likely now....Grin

Talkstotrees · 14/04/2018 13:04

Mummmy doesn’t bleat - she’s always upbeat about Brexshit. She wants us to crash out & go to WTO. Mummmy voted for change and isn’t at all bothered about what that change leads to. Mummmy is often unintelligible, frequently contradictory and occasionally a bit rude, But she is always optimistic and is usually happy to engage.

I don’t think any of the Leavers on here are bleaters.

Doubletrouble99 · 14/04/2018 13:19

We want to out of the club Cobblers - no bleating here.

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 13:43

Trees you made me smile...
If you knew how many times I had Stopped writing something as it was nasty.... I don't get many posts deleted..also wish we had an edit as predictive text is blooming annoying...
I just hate how the EU change and bully... think out , with no deal is a better way to control things as they will shaft us otherwise....

I get most cross over the people who think this can all be stopped and keep asking for answers , where there are none yet and think us mums should know while refusing to write and ask No 10 for answers if it's that imperitive to their piece of mind...

JWIM · 14/04/2018 14:02

What is so attractive about moving from one trade bloc (EU) where, I believe, all recognise that the UK has a seat at the table and a say in the rules 1:28 and also UK citizens get to exercise a democratic vote, to then move to another trade bloc (WTO) where, currently, the UK has no seat at the table; even if we gain a seat at the table our say in the rules is 1:?170? and we get no democratic vote as UK citizens and still have to abide by the WTO judicial process?

JWIM · 14/04/2018 14:16

I know there is no WTO document that mentions 'closer union' [we may disagree on the ambit of such a phrase] but surely as described above the WTO represents a step backwards for UK sovereignty.

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 14:18

Willing to be corrected but thought EU trade under WTO as well?

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 15:05

Bully? How does the EU bully?

JWIM · 14/04/2018 15:06

The EU has a trading bloc seat at the WTO table, much greater influence than the UK as a sole country yet to be accepted as a single country member.

Cobblersandhogwash · 14/04/2018 15:06

To say the EU bullies when it's looking after its own is bleating, I'm afraid. Poor old us. Whatever.

mummmy2017 · 14/04/2018 16:02

I feel the way they treat small countries is bullying...
The way they say something as if it is written then have to back track...
It's not all flowers are perfumes over there... '
