Ever closer to Brexit! 🥂 🍻 🍾

Remainers are welcome, as ever.

But!

If you just want to abuse Brexiteers, then start your own thread.

This is a pub thread, not an interrogate-a-Brexiteer thread

We have more in common etc, even if Brexit divides us.

WineBrewCakeThanks

Remain as the government sent a leaflets to every home before the vote.... why wasn't this enough to change people's minds...
What killer argument should have been used to ensure that we stayed.... ?
If it was a no brained to stay in the EU how come it went so wrong?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 07/04/2018 09:49

Boris and Gove travelled the country in that bloody bus. They smiled alongside the slogan whilst the media photographed and then published in the papers. You’d have to be pretty stupid to think it didn’t resonate and appeal to voters.

Exactly the same with the breaking point poster. That was an anti immigration dog whistle. Immigration is arguably the biggest issue for leave voters. Caveat - not all leave voters!

GhostofFrankGrimes · 07/04/2018 09:51

The “killer” arguments were denounced as project fear. Concerns about NI and being poorer - project fear.

Nearly 2 years later leavers have no fucking idea how to sort NI and it’s now accepted that Brexit will leave the country financially worse off. Project fear indeed.

mummmy2017 · 07/04/2018 10:00

So if the bus was a lie....why was it not pulled by remain?
Why didn't remain got for up the EU...making the UK rich....
Who stopped Remain from doing this it has been agreed they had far more air time than leave as the BBC was ful of remain lovers....
They should have been able to turn the viewers with ease....

bearbehind · 07/04/2018 10:04

your friend if so gullible why on earth didn't you explain your point of view ... as you are so knowledgeable you could easily have proved it wrong... I mean your very vocal on here.

Because, as you’ve demonstrated time and time again mummmy, there’s an awful lot of Leavers who don’t want to listen to the facts.

They prefer to continue to throw slogans and rhetoric around and ‘hope’ for a positive outcome.

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 10:16

Project fear was on both sides.

Chicken licken - the sky will fall in if we leave and too many foreigners invading!

Most people can find/see/look for themselves and decide of their own merit.

You choose to stay because you liked the status quo where I choose to leave because I didn’t like the status quo and wanted change.

Both are perfectly good reasons. We are all allowed to vote how we like. It’s a democracy.

What’s shit is the still aggressive remainers constantly repeating themselves and trying to bully on threads with insults of racists, bigots, uneducated, thick.

The only bully’s I can see on these threads are remainers. Which is ironic really.

A vote was taken - it was close but there was enough to be a winning vote.

People now need to unite instead of still bleeting on about a revote/the end is nigh and make sure this shit government get us a good deal. (Which I think Junker would rather roll over a die tbh )

Junker was talking about a bigger EU budget the other day. I think more countries will follow us after they see how this pans out

mummmy2017 · 07/04/2018 10:23

But with truth on their side according to you... why couldn't a government who knew for a lot longer than others have made it a win..
Because otherwise you need to see that leave happened because so many people thought like myself . The EU was not the be all and end all you are trying to make out.

LondonMum8 · 07/04/2018 10:24

Remain as the government sent a leaflets to every home before the vote.... why wasn't this enough to change people's minds...

Don't think a leaflet is going to cut it when you are up against the Daily Heil and AggregateIQ pumping out pinpoint-accurate fake news. Cameron should gave realised this, but again, I think everyone agrees he wasn't very smart..

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 10:25

Bear I do understand where your coming from.

I wanted to leave after watching lots of independent professors, analysts ect for both stay and leave. It wasn’t a ‘waving a British flag moment’ it really was down to my gut feeling. Which most of us can only go off.

So I went and voted. BUT I was shocked that this bunch of idiots had not even bothered to draw up a plan A,B,C...

I fucking can’t stand our government but I still feel that I would still vote leave again if asked to revote.

I also cannot stand Junker and his piss pot cronies either, which tbh was one of my reasons to leave

JWIM · 07/04/2018 10:34

So Quietlife how do you see the issue of the border on the island of Ireland - which was raised before the Referendum by the 'remain' campaign - being resolved, if we are to do as you voted, and leave the EU?

Nothing to do with messages on the side of a bus, posters of lines of brown faced people, financial/economic risk or not.

LondonMum8 · 07/04/2018 10:36

I also cannot stand Junker and his piss pot cronies either, which tbh was one of my reasons to leave

This is exactly the kind of irrational thinking Leave.EU were hoping to sow / ingrain.

mummmy2017 · 07/04/2018 10:43

London this has been a strongly held view for many decades... lots of people dislike the EU and some are even under 25...oh the shock the horror I hear you cry.

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 10:49

JWIM I don’t get paid to sort out issues like that and neither do you. Plenty of people do and I’m sure things are being worked on by people qualified to do so. And also how do you know I’m not ‘brown’ faced? Why do you just assume I’m a ‘white’ racist because I voted to leave. It’s ridiculous ! Grin Most normal folk know the difference between refugees and immigrants from EU countries. That fact you are continuously implying that the majority of the U.K. are thick is just rude and bigoted tbh

London I’m allowed to have an opinion on some one I follow. He is a piss pot. I don’t like him he is beyond arrogant and needs to be fired. But clearly you have refused to read my post correctly and missed I said he is ONE of the reasons.

Bellatron · 07/04/2018 10:49

Maybe leavers should have pointed out the bus was bollocks

I was monumentally fucked off with the bus - it's given extremist remainers something to whine about for the last 2 years.

They should have used the honest figure - £230 million per week.

Just as powerful a message.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 07/04/2018 10:53

Of course you were fucked off with the bus it exposes the lies.

My FIL voted leave because he thought Turkey was joining the EU. Remember that other poster? “Turkey (population 76 million) is joining the EU”. So much bollocks.

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 10:53

bella I’m with you on that.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 07/04/2018 10:55

So voting leave was down to “perception”, “gut feeling” and a dislike of individuals within the EU. Inspiring stuff.

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 10:56

Ghost to be fair it’s only just been fucked of this January.

I think the EU will collapse and it will be too late anyway

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 10:57

ghost purposely misreading my posts - again. Why you making stuff up Grin

Bellatron · 07/04/2018 11:01

So if the bus was a lie....why was it not pulled by remain?

To be fair, the remain campaign immediately pointed out that it was disingenuous.

The fact it was 'only' actually £230 million a week wasn't really a good persuasion tactic though for some reason....

LondonMum8 · 07/04/2018 11:02

London this has been a strongly held view for many decades...

Yeah, sure - the Leavers hated little Juncker decades ago, particularly the ones who are now 25.

They should have used the honest figure - £230 million per week.

The honest figure is in the region of - £350M/wk if we are very lucky. You can't honestly take just one element of a long sum and claim it is the net result. Leave.EU assumed, well basically thanks to AIQ knew, the targetted individuals won't pick up on this.

mummmy2017 · 07/04/2018 11:02

But we do send more to EU than we get out...... it isn't a lie... stop pretending...

CardinalSin · 07/04/2018 11:06

Yes, I think "We send £130 million a week to the EU, but if we leave we will have a considerably lower tax take and will have to spend even less on the NHS" would have been a brilliant slogan on the side of a bus...

mummmy2017 · 07/04/2018 11:07

I said EU for decade's .
Junker is all most 25 and under know .....
I still want the no deal nd be totally free.

Quietlife1979 · 07/04/2018 11:08

Little Junker... arf! Grin

Do you actually know anything about him london?
