Theres no conclusive evidence, that's the problem. Really simple. You can suspect, but you can't prove it.

Most Leavers I know voted on one thing, immigration, they didn't give a shit about anything else.

Immigration is a legitimate concern. It does not make me racist, even though it suits a remainers narrative to assert that.

I voted primarily to stop 'ever closer union'.

Freedom of movement was something I voted to stop too, I've never pretended otherwise.

However, not wanting FoM does not equal being anti-immigration - this is a fallacy promulgated by extremist remainers.

Controlled immigration, with parity for all is what I want - fairer & less whitewashed.

Fortunately, I live rurally so immigration really doesn’t effect us. It was never really an issue. My kids go to private school - so once again, it never effected us there.

WRT the alleged Russian interference in the referendum, I think it is perfectly possible that they did play a part, I think it was probably a lot more nuanced than Leavers are imagining though.

We will never know the truth about what happened with the Russsian.

Yes, and I'm sure they'll be queuing up in droves to come and work in the NHS, etc. It will be the warmth of the UK public's welcome and the exchange rate that will draw them here. Also, why would they go to the Netherlands or Germany or suchlike when they can come here and be monitored within an inch of their lives?

To be fair my 'friend' (more of an acquaintance) is as thick as mince, or 'gullible' as you say. I think it's much more difficult to 'explain' anything to people who are entirely lacking in critical thinking skills. They just believe what they want to believe (see also the woman in the video I linked).

I agree, Ghost. The bus, along with Farage's poster, were clearly designed to appeal to a particular demographic. Some people just like a good slogan (Brexit Means Brexit, Red, White & Blue Brexit etc) and don't look to see if there's any actual substance behind the soundbite or visual image.
