No you said the loan wasn't available in the time needed. So you can't buy the product.
Yeah your lot tried the court route last time. But still we are advancing with EU...

JWIM · 23/03/2018 15:19

I said the loan was available after a set date, therefore in planning your business you would commence it after that date once you were able to finance it.

Please do not conflate 'your lot' with everyone who is not you. We are citizens of a well developed democratic country. Our legal system is available to everyone. You will recall that the case brought by Gina Miller and others (including those who voted leave in the EU) was SUCCESSFUL. The current Art 50 legal challenge is a perfectly reasonable case to bring. If successful it will not reverse the referendum but it will set out the rules and way in which the UK within our own sovereign parliamentary democracy must take the decision to action Art 50 SUCCESSFULLY.

The fact that there is even room for citizens to question the way in which the Govt is going about this is beyond embarassing - surely they have access to good and compete advice and could and should have ensured the correct actions were taken to avoid any and all doubt. Piss poor planning again.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 15:26

You said loan needed by a certain date.....
So sorry your wrong... date passes no loan no stock no business.

mummmy2017 · 23/03/2018 15:30

Is clutching at straw now the way your hoping to stop this?

At some point you will see what I keep pointing out to you.. the Brexit horse has bolted...

GhostofFrankGrimes · 23/03/2018 15:35

Yes, but until the brexit unicorn turns up we are all worse off.

OliviaD68 · 23/03/2018 15:35

@JWIM

There's another A50 challenge in addition to the one you mention (which is embarrassing, esp the Govt's defence - can't make that up )

The other one deals with its revocability- whether it is one sided or requires the EU27 to opine. It looks like the court date has been set for July.

JWIM · 23/03/2018 15:37

I said that the finance for a business would be available after a set date. The date arrives, the loan is granted the business starts. Not start the business, have no capital, business, as you rightly note, fails.

Leaving the EU - prepare the ground, when ready apply for Art 50, leaving commences. Not start leaving, find preparations are poor, leaving fails.

JWIM · 23/03/2018 15:42

How we leave is a practical matter. Our Govt (yours and mine) is making a hash of it in both our names.

Do I think leaving the EU is looking successful so far - No. Have we reversed Brexit - No.

Will leaving happen - not certain yet.

JWIM · 23/03/2018 15:48

Apols for the missing apostrophe - your's

LondonMum8 · 23/03/2018 16:52

At a risk of slight overbroadcasting, apparently CA CEO lied to MPs about involvement in Leave.EU campaign. The details will probably get covered up by the government, but still good to know.

Unashamedly stolen from elsewhere

“Ah Brexit. Also known as ‘The undefined being negotiated by the unprepared in order to get the unspecified for the uninformed.’ “

LondonMum8 · 23/03/2018 17:08

@Talkstotrees 😂

frumpety · 23/03/2018 19:18

So a quick timeline

The UK holds a referendum on the 23/06/2016 , the vote says the voters think we should leave the EU.

The UK Government triggers article 50 on 29/03/2017.

Nearly a year later and the UK is still a member of the EU , we are going to enter a transitional period.

So what happens next ? the above are pure facts that no leaver can disagree with.

We can only enter the transitional period if we have sorted the NI border issue. Have we done that yet ? Is there any way of doing it to suit all parties before the start of the transitional period ?

KennDodd · 23/03/2018 19:21

I have a feeling the Gov is trying to kick the can down the road until after the next GE leaving a new Gov (Labour) to pick it up when the shit hits the fan.

TheyBuiltThePyramids · 23/03/2018 19:26

I am negotiator by trade. You never ever walk into a room without understanding what you want, having a good view on what the other party wants and what is the minimum position you can accept

AgnesSkinner · 23/03/2018 19:29

Have we mentioned Gibraltar yet?

OliviaD68 · 23/03/2018 19:31

@TheyBuiltThePyramids

Unless you are the UK government and negotiations are run by senile MPs who are convinced the UK holds all the cards and you need to negotiate trade deals with 27 independent countries - ie not the Commission.

In all seriousness however: there is not a hell of a lot to negotiate. The EU is a rules based institution with no real leeway to change how things work. This doesn't of course obviate the need to answer a basic question: what do we want?

frumpety · 23/03/2018 19:32

Pyramids the leavers want to leave , simple Smile

LondonMum8 · 23/03/2018 19:34

We want to have our cake and eat it and that was never going to work. I am currently trying to finalize a deal with a rather well known and very large IT company. We need their products and services, we would have one HELL of a problem if they were withdrawn. We are not a small company but the cards are all with them. They will make some small extra concessions but otherwise it's tough. We have to sign and pay or be right in the shit. There is an alternative, but it's not quite so good and the cost of moving 20000 employees would rule out any benefits for years. And we would still end up with second best. This is a genuine situation, not an analogy. We will do an analysis as a company and if we move from A to B when all is considered I will eat my own head.
