Unfortunately User you fell into the beartrap. Don't despair here in the Brexit Arms we continue to try and be positive and appreciate your input. Sadly the entrenched position if some Remained has led to an utter inability to listen. Bear's constant demand for answers comes from a dark place that no answer will satisfy best not to try.

I'm with you, happy with a reasonably soft Brexit and just wish we could all pull together and get on with it.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 03/03/2018 18:56

Okay I give up
I have spent to much of my life reading about the EFTA
Seem to be a off the shelf solution to our current pickle

And I replied to you - EFTA: seems reasonable.

EEA: no, because ceding too much sovereignty & includes FoM.

EFTA & EEA are separate - you can apply to join EFTA without applying to join EEA.

EFTA is something that many leavers would be happy with for the immediate future. Complete divergence is then an option for a later govt if they wish to pursue it.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 03/03/2018 18:57

Yy.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 03/03/2018 19:13

And many remainers would be happy with that but it is explicitly what the ERG has said they don't want and they are the ones that May seems to be listening to.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 03/03/2018 19:16

Take it back, happy to strong a word. Could live with.

abilockhart · 03/03/2018 19:20

The rantings are now reeking of desperation.

bearbehind · 03/03/2018 19:21

user, I'm as happy as is possible in this situation.

BINO is the least worst outcome.

What I'm incredibly pissed off about is the complete lack of conviction in Leavers arguments.

It seems they too are quite happy with BINO so what's the fecking point?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 03/03/2018 19:23

The rantings are now reeking of desperation.

Confused What rantings? What desperation?
Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 19:25

abilockhart - you didn't listen to the PM's speech yesterday did you.

Why would a leaver saying they are anti FOM have anything o do with us not wanting people to come or go to Europe? I said I thought everyone should be treated equally so the EU citizens would be treated the same as everyone else. Erasmus will carry on whither we are in the EU or not.
Bear - I've always thought we would have to pay for access to certain organizations. We are not paying for access to the SM coz we don't want to be in the SM. We want a free trade deal. Obviously if we have a free trade deal our goods we sell them will have to comply with the rules of the EU.

bearbehind · 03/03/2018 19:28

double do you think if you post the same thing you did 90 minutes ago, with a few now spaces, it sounds more convincing?

abilockhart · 03/03/2018 19:43

Doubletrouble99, you are seriously delusional if you believe Theresa May calls the shots in these negotiations.

All Theresa May has outlined was that leaving the EU was a great deal more complicated than she had been led to believe. Theresa May's speech last Friday seemed a desperate plea for help.

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 19:49

Sorry, don't know why that came up again when I switched my laptop on again.

surferjet · 03/03/2018 19:57

Our vision for Brexit is a positive one. We will take back control of our laws, our borders and our money. But we will also build a deep and special partnership with the EU. Working together with our neighbours on trade and security

I suppose that is trying to please everyone?

TalkinPeace · 03/03/2018 20:04

User147
Remains we are leaving ~ Brexitters it will be a bloody soft one
So why ?
THat is my problem ..... once its clear that there needs to be an FTA which will involve both FoM and wodges of cash, then why

Re Visas :
I got my UK passport when the UK stopped issuing automatic ILR updates to those of us who had them for decades
I did not fancy spending £1300 every ten years to live as I always had done.
The UK has the most expensive visas in the world

At the moment Yerp cannot charge Brits to holiday, live and work across the continent.
If the UK tries to make EU citizens get visas, it will cut both ways
and why would Spain and France and Greece NOT make a few pennies out of sun seeking Brits

Let alone reciprocal healthcare : tens of thousands of Brits are registered with GP's across Europe
if they can no longer get free treatment, they will come home
or the holidaymakers (of whom there are so many that they make telly programmes about them) who rely on their EHICs

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 20:22

Abi - I didn't think you had listened to all of TM's speech since you ranted on about employment law and environmental standards falling. That is a red line as far as I'm concerned and TM specifically stated that that would not happen.

I also have no idea at all what you are talking about about desperation!!!

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 20:24

talkin - why on earth would we impose expensive visas on EU citizens as visitors. I would certainly hope that work visas would be reduced in price for everyone.

TalkinPeace · 03/03/2018 20:29

double
why on earth would we impose expensive visas on EU citizens as visitors
Well because the UKBA charges eye watering fees to everybody it can

I would certainly hope that work visas would be reduced in price for everyone.
So you want immigration to rise after Brexit ?

TalkinPeace · 03/03/2018 20:31

since you ranted on about employment law and environmental standards falling. That is a red line as far as I'm concerned and TM specifically stated that that would not happen.
Tell Rees Mogg
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-safety-standards-workers-rights-jacob-rees-mogg-a7459336.html

abilockhart · 03/03/2018 20:32

Doubletrouble99, you seem to be under the delusion that Theresa May remains PM forever.

Jacob Rees-Mogg (or any other politician for that matter), on becoming PM, could adopt any environmental and safety policy (especially if required to do so in order to achieve a badly-needed trade deal with the US, India, etc.) Ditto with privatisation of the NHS.

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 20:34

JRM isn't in the negotiating team or in the cabinet. He's just a very right wing back bencher so of little significance in the scheme of things.

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 20:38

Why would any politician who became PM think reducing standards would be politically a good idea? We would vote any party out who tried it so it's a complete no goer.

AgnesSkinner · 03/03/2018 20:40

so of little significance in the scheme of things

Come off it. JRM as leader of the ERG is the tail that’s wagging the dog.

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 20:43

Yet all you remainers are saying TM is going for a soft Brexit - what influence did you think JRM had in that?

TalkinPeace · 03/03/2018 20:43

Double
You are clearly not a Tory Party member : from what I hear, he'll be the new leader when they depose TM later this year
and then all of her red lines will be pissed away

Doubletrouble99 · 03/03/2018 20:47

They'll loose the popular vote if he's voted in. I might become a party member if I can vote to stop the likes of JRM becoming leader!
