Good morning Smile

Voting to leave the European Union was a monumental decision, and one that will change the direction of our Country for decades to come.
I see that as an exciting opportunity & something to be welcomed & celebrated.

So, if you see solutions instead of problems, if you see a better future for the citizens of U.K., free from the constraints of an organisation we had no control over, then this place is for you.
Of course not everything is going to run smoothly, maybe not for years, because leaving a union drowning in red tape was never going to be easy, but we are forward thinking progressive people who know the future doesn’t just mean next week.
So, here’s to our new future,
To the future of the U.K. Wine
The countdown begins.........

then I suggest remainers get behind Brexit, stop sneering at leavers & stop talking this country down

I haven't talked the country down, i haven't sneered at leavers and im not getting behind something that i think is a mistake

Am I getting in the way of brexit...no

surferjet · 17/02/2018 18:00

No he wouldn’t have.
But Farage would have given up I’m pretty sure of that. He knew this was our one & only chance, if we’d lost this referendum we’d have remained in the EU forever, because they’ll never be another referendum, well, not for decades anyway.
& by then all the older people who voted leave would have died so all you’d have voting is people who have never experienced life outside of the EU.
It was now or never - & he knew that.

I probably won’t notice a single difference in my daily life once we’ve left. I doubt you will either.

That's only possible if you live on a farm and/or are landed/self-sufficient. Most people have already experienced higher inflation, the spectre of rising interest rates on their gigantic debt, the fallen pound is def noticeable unless one doesn't go abroad ever, or buy any imported goods. Jobs are moving out - to be fair that's mostly affecting London for now, but the budget hit and the splash damage will materialise soon enough.

SusanWalker · 17/02/2018 18:28

If all us 'remainers' hate the UK so much, why is it that the only voices you seem to hear asking for solutions to issues like the Irish border are those of remainers.

If we truly hated the UK we wouldn't bother. We'd just sit here and wait for the considerable amount of shit to hit the fan.

It's blindingly obvious that the government has no plan and no idea what they are doing beyond soundbites to keep the leavers happy. Pointing that out is not unpatriotic but a democratic right.

surferjet · 17/02/2018 18:29

I’m going to make a suggestion.

How about we all forget our differences and try & get along?
Wine all round. Ok?

I was born and bred in Northern Ireland. Forgive me and all, but there is no way I'm 'getting behind' something that has such potential to fuck that region over - in the most casual manner.

I still appalled at how little the average leaver and in particular the pro brexiteer tories care about stability in NI. And in your eyes that's the side demonstrating its 'love' the UK. It beggars belief. Angry

As always

I am definitely up for that

Doesn’t mean I’m not glad we’re leaving though.
Because who knows what the EU would have forced on us in 10 years time - could have been anything?
I don’t know & neither do you

What an odd set of comments - You don't think anyone will experience any difference once we leave, but it's a good idea because something you have no idea about could, or not, happen if we remained.

Bearbehind · 17/02/2018 18:40

Then I suggest remainers get behind Brexit, stop sneering at leavers & stop talking this country down. You’re the ones causing the division.

You might want to save those words, I suspect you're going to keep repeating them in the months and years to come given there's clearly not a chance you will actually be taking any responsibility for your decisions.

Has it not sunk in with a single Leaver on here that things like a 'virtual border' aren't going to magically happen and that we haven't got time to sort anything like that before we leave?

And you dare to say it is Remainers who hate the UK.

The reality is it's Leavers who only care about themselves that is the problem.

If you gave a shit about anyone or anything in the UK you would not be perusing the economically suicidal leap into the unknown.

AgnesSkinner · 17/02/2018 19:03

I’ll raise a Wine once (at least some) leavers realise that the UK comprises more than just England.

Because who knows what the EU would have forced on us in 10 years time - could have been anything?
Such as ?
What EXACTLY are we saving ourselves from by leaving ?
What EXACTLY has the EU forced on us in the last 10 years ?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 17/02/2018 19:21

I’ll raise a 🍷 once (at least some) leavers realise that the UK comprises more than just England.

I'm half Scottish & lived the largest part of my life there Agnes (both kids born there too, but sadly living in England at the mo & for the foreseeable future Sad)

Is that enough for you to raise a glass??!!

TalkinPeace · 17/02/2018 19:23

Faithhope
What changes are you looking for from Brexit ?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 17/02/2018 19:24

Also lots of family connections in Wales & a few NI friends, so I'm not a 'little Englander' at all even though that's the default perception a lot of remainers seem to have of Leave voters.

Inkanta · 17/02/2018 19:26

'You don't have to but that's an automatic defeat in the relevant arguments (including on FOM and "global trade" if I recall correctly) and a testament to your lack of ability to thoughtfully dispute. I will leave further implications off to avoid being rude.'

Oh shut it! Grin

Says you LondonMum who calls all Leavers' scum of the earth'!

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 17/02/2018 19:26

I'm not here to partake in deep analysis Talkin, sorry - I just wanted to let Agnes know that Brexiters weren't all England-centric.

AgnesSkinner · 17/02/2018 19:28

Absolutely Faith

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 17/02/2018 19:28

She's a dick Inkanta, I've found that it's best to just let her chunter on & ignore her tbh.

TalkinPeace · 17/02/2018 19:29

And that is the exact problem.
You want to leave the EU but have no clear view of what that means.
Of what will change for the better or worse
Of what you actually tangibly want
This Brexit is doomed to disappoint you almost as much as it will me.

surferjet · 17/02/2018 19:32

you want to leave the EU but have no clear view of what that means

It means we’re no longer in the EU.

I do - I just don't wish to discuss it.

I'm bored of the constant dissection, confrontation, animosity & circular nature of these threads at the mo - I'm quite happy though to chat shit to people from all sides, and I'll happily discuss new developments etc as & when I choose to.

Bearbehind · 17/02/2018 19:34

And that's how fucking simple you Leavers all are on here.

It's soul destroying.

19: 32 It means we’re no longer in the EU
17:52 I probably won’t notice a single difference in my daily life once we’ve left.

So WHY do you want something that will make no difference to your life ?

Peregrina · 17/02/2018 19:43

the remainers on this board have nothing good to say about this country, absolutely nothing.

So how can we support the NHS which is something most of us value and think good, is that not implicitly saying something good about the country?

Or how do we try to preserve the GFA - isn't that saying that some of the UK citizens can now live in peace and not fear being bombed something good to celebrate about the UK?
