Not much point in Airbus continuing to carry on with British operations when the UK falls out of the EU regulatory regime for aviation on Brexit day 29 March 2019 - that's making, flying and maintaining all planes/aviation parts built in/flying from the UK to whereever.

LondonMum8 · 24/02/2018 10:03

Let's bear corporate politics in mind. If an exec got blindsided by Brexit after having previously committed resources on the assumption that the British people are not stupid enough to vote for Brexit he will not commit a harakiri by now admitting he made a huge mistake. He will say of course they are committed and start working day and night to maneuvre himself out of the dead end.

How about Unilever? Will they move out or will they listen to Boris Johnson and Michael Gove?

surferjet · 24/02/2018 10:08

Good morning Brexiteers BrewSmile

Today’s dart board photo

Hasenstein · 24/02/2018 10:28

Surely that's yesterday's.

You could choose any of the Cabinet for today's.

LondonMum8 · 24/02/2018 10:34

Yep, let's start throwing darts at basically historical figures. Any other ideas on how to actually get to the sunlit uplands?

AgnesSkinner · 24/02/2018 10:35

I think it’s very likely Unilever will move its HQ to the Netherlands - partly Brexit and partly because it is easier to fend off hostile takeover attempts there.

It’s not in the gift of Gove and Johnson to do anything about it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 10:55

Blair, one of the architects of the Good Friday Agreement. Yes, I can see why brexiteers would want to throw darts at him. Say, do you think any of today’s cabinet would have the ability to negotiate peace in NI?

surferjet · 24/02/2018 11:02

I think you’ll find John Major ( Tory ) was the main man where peace in NI is concerned.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 11:15

I think you’ll find it was a collective effort. Blair, Major, Reynolds, Aherne, Mowlam et al.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 24/02/2018 11:21

I though it was Agent Cob who single-handedly negotiated peace in NI, whilst simultaneously bringing an end to the Cold War?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 11:23

Rewriting history or just lack of knowledge? Given one leave on this thread admitted they didn’t have a clue how NI and Brexit will work I’ll say the latter.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 24/02/2018 11:28

I don't know tbh - best ask Jezza & his spin team for an answer to that.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 11:35

Why would I do that when the Tories and right wing press are “running” the country?

SusanWalker · 24/02/2018 11:40

You can live in a poor, rural, left behind leave voting area like me and still think brexit is a terrible idea. In fact my area is going to be up the proverbial creek without EU funding. During the ref campaign a promise was made that the government would replace it but that promise was reneged on almost immediately.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 24/02/2018 11:40

I'm not sure what the Tory party or right wing press have to do with the rewriting history/lack of knowledge question you posed wrt the narrative being pushed by Jezza's 'team' re Jezza being solely responsible for the GFA or the end of the Cold War.

Mistigri · 24/02/2018 11:51

Let's bear corporate politics in mind.

I think it's more than just "corporate politics". The senior management of British-owned companies basically don't want to say anything about Brexit - they don't want to worry investors, and they don't want to piss off the government (certainly last year, being critical of brexit basically cut you off from ministerial access; things might have improved, though I doubt it). Quietly though, preparations are being made; for eg, my employer is building capacity in Eastern Europe for a critical manufacturing process which risks being seriously impacted by Brexit.

surferjet · 24/02/2018 11:51

GhostofFrankGrimes

You clearly know very little about the NI peace process. You said TB was one of the architects - no, he wasn’t, JM had done all the ground work, Blair just cleaned up.

Everyone knows that ( except you )

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 11:52

Tbh faith, I’ve no idea what you are talking about. I didn’t mention Corbyn or the Cold War.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 24/02/2018 11:55

Cross purposes then ghost.
Easily happens.

I posted about Jezza being the sole architect of GFA & ending the Cold War, & then you posted 2 mins after saying 'rewriting history or lacking knowledge?' - I thought it was a question to me, so responded.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 11:58

The GFA was signed on Blair’s watch. I’m no fan of Blair but to suggest peace in Ireland begins and ends with Major shows lack of understanding of the issue. Major played a part of course. You are also painting a one eyed Brish view of the GFA. On the Irish side Albert Reynolds worked with Major and aherne with Blair. You could throw Johnhulme in for good measure also.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 12:00

To clarify, I never suggested Blair was solely responsible for GFA. I suggested painting Major as the sole architect of the GFA is rewriting history.

surferjet · 24/02/2018 12:05

Give up now.
You know nothing.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 12:10

Surfer I’m not going to be lectured by someone whose contribution to conversations is posting pictures and emojis. You’re whole political view is the stuff of fantasy.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/02/2018 12:11

Given majors view on Brexit shouldn’t you be throwing virtual darts at him?

CardinalSin · 24/02/2018 12:17

Surferjet's comment is the very quintessence of irony...
