Of course the Referendum denied EU national a vote ffs it was a vote by UK citizens on the future of the UK how can that be hard to understand!

That argument doesn’t really stack up.

You can easily argue that the Scottish Independence Referendum (in which EU citizens could vote and which could have resulted in the break up of the UK) would have had a massive impact on the future of the UK.

And it wasn’t just UK citizens voting in the EU referendum either - Irish and Commonwealth citizens had the vote too.

But interestingly the UK citizens who most understand the UKs place in Europe and the wider world

  • long term expats
were denied a vote .....

At least there's some wonderful good news about Brexit now...

Really my pil. Have been in Spain a decade they voted, everyone entitled to vote for a vote, a third didn't bother less than a third voted Remain, more than a third voted Leave why on earth are you still dwelling on this? Obsessing isn't good for the soul.

TalkinPeace · 20/02/2018 18:29

sheldon
Expats of more than 15 years standing were denied the vote.

I am obsessed with getting the best economic outcomes for the country I have chosen to live in.
Is that such a bad thing ?

InfiniteSheldon · 20/02/2018 18:45

So am I is that a bad thing?

AgnesSkinner · 20/02/2018 19:44

a third didn't bother less than a third voted Remain

Your maths is out:

37.4% of the electorate voted Leave.
34.7% of the electorate voted Remain.
27.9% of the electorate did not vote.

InfiniteSheldon · 20/02/2018 20:17

That's somewhat pendantic Agnes Grin

mummmy2017 · 20/02/2018 20:20

So the ones who did voted to Leave, Strange that...

But you do tend to ignore these things.

LondonMum8 · 20/02/2018 20:23

At least there's some wonderful good news about Brexit now...

Yep, the Dotard got advised by the underlying PR analytics system it's time to crack a joke to distract the gullible crowd.

AgnesSkinner · 20/02/2018 20:26

It’s not pedantic considering all we ever hear is “Brexit is the will of the people” when 62% of the electorate did NOT vote for it.

InfiniteSheldon · 20/02/2018 20:49

65.3% did not vote to Remain

Bearbehind · 20/02/2018 20:53

65.3% did not vote to Remain

But they didn't vote to leave either Hmm

So what of DD's blinding speech today which said precisely nothing except we still haven't thought of any other scenario other than being able to continue as before except for the bits we don't like.

InfiniteSheldon · 20/02/2018 21:29

The majority, by over a million people, a million! Voted Leave, they voted out of the racist corrupt Orwellian nightmare why is that so hard for you to get on board. I'm sorry you have a vested interest in maintaining the yolk of corporate oppression but it really is time to get on board or get counseling if you still can't grasp the meaning of the Referendum. The UK voted for Independence.

they voted out of the racist corrupt Orwellian nightmare
why is that so hard for you to get on board

Because, aside from you thinking that saying the EU is a ‘racist corrupt Orwellian nightmare’ sounds very grand and impressive and makes you very big and clever, not a single one of you can explain how that actually affected you nor how it will change for the better in future

AgnesSkinner · 20/02/2018 21:50

Orwellian nightmare

Don’t think it worked out too well for the residents of Manor Farm after they had overthrown the yoke of corporate oppression (aka Mr Jones).

mummmy2017 · 20/02/2018 22:02

I do laugh, you do know the Remain are so shocked that they didn't win, that they can't accept the largest result in history.

No matter what happens they will still be saying the same thing when we finally leave, as they can't see that there simply were not enough votes for them to win....

Next come the demands for answers, that's part of their grief process, endless demands that you supply answers to question, even thought the answers are not know yet.

The facts and figures of why they are right and Leave are wrong, still unable to see that Leave knew this would happen and then it's the names and the lack of education, and how we have robbed the youth, even if the over 55's have 30 years of life left to live on this Fair Isle.

Next come the demands to have another voted, so they get a chance to win, even if everyone tells them there is no 2nd vote.

We have breed a generations of people who demand what they want is right, even if they have been given 2 General Elections to stop this, they still can't see that this is what people have voted for in the last 4 years time and again.

AgnesSkinner · 20/02/2018 22:12

I’d definitely vote for sticking all the over 55 Leave voters on Fair Isle. Hope they all like birds and knitting.

TalkinPeace · 20/02/2018 22:12

that they can't accept the largest result in history.
It was a Margin of vote that UKIP had already said they would reject had it gone the other way.

the percentage margin was trivial
the number of votes margin was trivial

a better written piece of legislation would have treated it with the contempt it deserved

Moussemoose · 20/02/2018 22:13

largest result in history.

Will you just stop saying something that is wrong, Wrong, WRONG!

There are more people in the electorate now than 100 years ago so the number of votes cast does not impact on the validly of the result.

mummmy2017 · 20/02/2018 22:16

How are you still managing to live in your ,we can remain bubble.

A miss is as good as a mile, and you failed to hit the target required to remain.

Your sad lament of it's not fair is just that, it won't change you know.

mummmy2017 · 20/02/2018 22:18

The most number of people ever voted, and the outcome was Leave...

How can you not understand that, trying to twist the figures still doesn't change the result..
