When is lying not lying. When you can get enough of your mates to agree it is not lying.

And so we have David Davis, who has made two statements to parliament which deliberately contradict each other and must constitute some sort of lie to parliament at some point however you cut it.

Will the Speaker risk the wrath of his party to uphold democratic values? We watch carefully.

Davis also reveals and exposes May too though. May one way or another is complicit in Davis’s lie, either through not doing her job in reading the reports or by protecting Davis when she knew the reports did not exist. This is gross misconduct in her inability to ensure her staff do their bloody jobs. All so she can keep her own job.

This is where whistleblowers in other institutions pop up.

It has also become apparent that May has not had THE conversation with the Cabinet over what shape Brexit should take. After 18months.
Why not? Is she incapable of consensus building or is she just incompetent?

And then we have the DUP seemingly not being properly being involved in the wording of the all important document.

Vote Leave’s Oliver Norgrove is perfectly right in saying that Hard Brexit is all but dead. Don’t let that make you feel happier. Hard Brexiteers know that there only option now, is No Deal and that’s what they will try and pursue.

There is no deal until everything is settled. Right now, nothing is settled, not even what the UK want out of Brexit, never mind the EU position.

May might well have blown the only opportunity for a deal too, because of her failure over NI and the DUP. Where does she go from here? The idea that she will stand up to anyone, is ludicrous given her track record.

We might all wish we could John Lennon's song was apt when it comes to this Christmas and Brexit, it seems the war for our future post Brexit, it seems it is only just starting.

No badge removal no entry

Good for you woman, for keeping your own possession. It feels like they were viewing your badge as a weapon.

Just when I thought it was safe to exhale, it seems there has to be some clarity on what the UK want before further discussions. They have at the very least until February according to this article.

only then if the British prime minister has taken a grip of her divided cabinet and come up with an agreed vision of the future.

LurkingHusband · 08/12/2017 17:03

I'm not sure why Leave voters need sympathy when, as we are regularly reminded, they WON.

Oh, the internet is full of grumbles from Brexiteers being answered exactly so.

As I suggested uptrhead. Childish. But very satisfying ...

I need this book, in proper children's cardboard format. I will send it to any brexiteers I hear complaining. Do you think we could crowdfund it? Grin

iboughtsnowboots · 08/12/2017 17:14

It looks like Gibraltar has been thrown under a bus though, I wonder how cross they are at present?

HashiAsLarry · 08/12/2017 17:23

Totally up for shoving something into a crowdfunding thats not my brexit book.

MrsDustyBusty · 08/12/2017 17:23

Ireland gets a say, MrsDusty.

Yeah, that was what I thought, but you'd hardly realise it the way people are talking. I really thought I must have been mistaken and that we'd somehow agreed to take them on as soon as they like (or brexit fans find convenient).

It seems to me that all the talk of demographics in NI is fine, but it overlooks a significant factor and by the time a majority in NI graciously decide to lump it with us, they might well find themselves having to persuade Ireland to have any part of it.

LurkingHusband · 08/12/2017 17:25

I wonder if Leavers are now going to mope

Don't know about "Leavers" but gobshite Brexiteers are incandescent with rage (as I said upthread some calling May "a traitor").

We could probably clear all the snow in the UK if we could harness that bluster.

It's more interesting how the MSM is currently keeping a lid on it. Which suggests dark forces are at play.

Still, I have to say that having been shit since 23rd June, I'm not yet tired of seeing Remainers just post "you won, get over it" in reply to grumbling Brexiteers. And boy, are there a few.

I suspect the reason reaction is delayed is the Brexiteers who need to have someone read the news to them.

Cailleach1 · 08/12/2017 17:31

Gibraltar don't have anyone with a seat in the EU Council looking out for their interests. They are dependent on the 'kindness of strangers the UK', who don't give a fig.

Ireland would have been thrown under the bus too if they were not an EU member state. The Brexiteers talk about the EU as if it is a big bully Franco-German plot. However, small countries like Ireland really value the rules based environment which gives them an equal voice. Ironically, without the EU, the UK would have just trod all over Ireland. Those elements in NI too, who refuse to become as English British as Somerset.

Smile Cheers Cailleach1 I reserve the right to bear badges. Grin
Little bit creepy though, but pales into insignificance in what others are enduring.

The DUP's Sir Jeffrey Donaldson has outlined what changes the DUP secured in Friday's Brexit deal, warning if there was any deviation from the agreement the party would act, hinting at withdrawal of support for the government

www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/brexit/brexit-breakthrough-changes-dup-forced-through-revealed-and-donaldson-warns-party-will-act-if-any-deviation-36390692.html?utm_content=bufferbe990&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

Which suggests dark forces are at play
that bit is really annoying me about this malarkey now, LH

iboughtsnowboots · 08/12/2017 17:39

Well Scotland ironically seems to be having it's interests best protected by the DUP at present which is pretty bizarre. The government in Westminster certainly doesn't seem bothered.

I'm up for crowd funding this book!

LurkingHusband · 08/12/2017 17:54

Went to a public, local authority meeting in a town hall about brexit and local business.

thirty (mumble) years ago, my Unis student union had a wheeze of only allowing people who were going to vote to continue the sit-in, into the meeting. When news got around (quickly, despite not having Twitter), the Rugby Club lads turned up to investigate.

Turned out it was all a silly misunderstanding and of course all students were allowed on.

The meeting was then agenda'd such that all the really trivial business was at the top. And if you want to know about filibustering, you need to imagine nearly an hour on the correct use of the union photocopier.

Long story short: the vote was held, the sit in ended. Everyone left, and a second vote was held to continue the sit in. At which point someone from the NUS pointed out the need for a quorum. And I heard the immortal phrase members of the committee, it's been noted that this is not a properly constituted meeting. All those in favour of making it a properly constituted meeting, raise their hands

However the NUS guy must have had some power (probably funding) as nothing happened after that.

So nothing May, or the Tories can manage is much of a surprise.

(My DFs experience of politics involves guns a lot, so I count myself lucky).

BiglyBadgers · 08/12/2017 17:57

Here are my book text ideas so far:

'That's not my Brexit, its border is too soft'

'That's not my Brexit, its passport is too red'

'That's not my Brexit, its payment to the EU is too shiny'

Anymore for anymore? Grin

LurkingHusband · 08/12/2017 17:58

Oh this is rich ...

From a real headbanging Brexiteer on a newsgroup I use ...

Quote

(I think we should have a Referendum on May's deal with the EU, because it fucking stinks. We've already decided we're leaving, so don't start any of that old nonsense again.

The question now should be:

"Do you approve of the government's decision to spunk 40bn pounds (which
is enough to pay the wages of 1,333,333 nurses for one year) on bailing
out Brussels' fine-dining set of uber-parasites? "

Someone better than me at these things needs to do the necessaries on that
petition website. Feel free to cut & paste the above.

Unquote

So some Leavers want a 2nd referendum ?

Who thought winning would be such a pain in the hole ?

woman11017 · 08/12/2017 18:06

My DFs experience of politics involves guns
So do the DUP and Britain first, proud sponsors of this coup.

BiglyBadgers · 08/12/2017 18:08

Of course so imagine there might be some copyright issues with Usborne, maybe we can pitch it to them...

Cailleach1 · 08/12/2017 18:22

NI needs/needed more time and normalisation. Hope this Brexit damage can be averted.

Just having a gander through the BT having clicked on woman's link

Came across the story about the case of Robert Hamill, who was kicked to death by a group of Loyalists in 1997. It was said a group of RUC officers failed to act when called upon for help. It is just not what you'd expect a police force in a normal society to be like.

RUC officers in the area at the time have been accused of failing to intervene in the assault on Mr Hamill.

tbh I am amazed on a daily basis by the humanity and collectivity that exists in most real life, and SM contact.
We humans are daft, but not that daft, I hope.

iboughtsnowboots · 08/12/2017 18:34

I once spent some time in Belfast going through old police files for the job I had then, this was after the GF agreement so I was pretty surprised when the police officer driving me around explained that we couldn't drive down a particular street as it was too dangerous for him. I had naively thought that because things looked fairly normal on the surface they were. I hope they are even more normal now but it was less than 15 years ago.

NorWoman · 08/12/2017 18:36

I am trying not to be negative but I feel that this alleged 'breakthrough' deal in Brexit talks is not 'real' and that this will somehow lead to the UK walking away without a deal. Admittedly I don't really understand what's what now after this 'breakthrough' and what it really means but I doubt that the powers behind hard Brexit will allow 'soft' Brexit to be an option. I fear that after this stage talks will turn hostile. But then I do tend to assume the worst usually.

Peregrina · 08/12/2017 18:36

Well, well, well, the Brexiteers don't like what May's negotiated. Isn't the correct answer: You won, suck it up? They'd like another Referendum, the answer here is "That's democracy, what don't you understand?"

They have bought the 'mansion' and have no idea how to move in.

They bought the mansion after seeing a photograph, and then spent their time bragging to their friends. When they rolled up to view it, they saw it was a ruin.

Holliewantstobehot · 08/12/2017 19:09

I've seen rabid brexiteers on other forums saying this is not what I voted for I'm never voting again. To which the answer is thank god.

Also have seen several posts moaning that EU citizens who commit crimes will be tried by the ECJ whereas we will have to be tried by British courts which is not fair. I shit you not.

Alot of hate from the rabids for TM.

Peregrina · 08/12/2017 19:13

To which the answer is thank god. Grin Grin.
