It seems not many people have?

OP posts:

The Brexiters on this thread have been very clear that they want FOM to stop

Not guilty, m'lord! Grin

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 23/09/2017 15:08

Surely every foreigner who leaves is a victory for Brexit, another little step to the goal of ending FOM. High fives all round?

I’m not sure that you understand that there is a vast difference between wanting to end freedom of movement & being anti immigration.

Or maybe you do, and you’re just being facetious?

Who can tell...?!

Did I say all Brexiteers?

If you didn't mean Brexiteers then who are you referring to?

histinyhandsarefrozen · 23/09/2017 15:40

I’m not sure that you understand that there is a vast difference between wanting to end freedom of movement & being anti immigration.

All those EU citizens on these threads telling you they and their families feel absolutely devastated, all these 10,000 NHS workers leaving.

They are just being SO facetious. What's wrong with them?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 23/09/2017 16:28

Why are you conflating two entirely different things histiny?

Surely you aren’t being wilfully disingenuous?
Because that would mean you’re just being deliberately goady for the sake of it, and it would be awfully nice if people could try & move on from that tbh.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 23/09/2017 16:32

Unfortunately, a leave vote WAS a wild conflation of different things.

The outcome of the Leave vote though is clearer every day: economy is being fucked up. The NHS is losing workers.

I really don't see why I should 'move on' from that.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 23/09/2017 16:42

Unfortunately, a leave vote WAS a wild conflation of different things I agree; doesn't make it the fault of those who voted though. It was an opaque, piss-poor and shoddy campaign from start to finish and if we're going to play the Blame Game, then I'll lay this particular clusterfuck on David Cameron's lap.

TheElementsSong · 23/09/2017 17:11

If you didn't mean Brexiteers then who are you referring to?

Did I say all Brexiteers? Did I not have the phrase "ending FOM" in my post?

wanting to end freedom of movement & being anti immigration

I absolutely understand the difference between the two and that they are not entirely the same thing. However, I am at a loss to understand how one might envisage the end of FOM without departure of some number of EU citizens (a.k.a. foreigners) and thus why, if one wants to end FOM, one wouldn't be pleased with some degree of aforementioned departures.

BoneyBackJefferson · 23/09/2017 18:19

TheElementsSong

You also didn't say some Brexiteers either.

TheElementsSong · 23/09/2017 18:21

Did I not have the phrase "ending FOM" in my post? If somebody hadn't based their vote upon the ending of FOM, would they nevertheless believe that the post applied to them?

BoneyBackJefferson · 23/09/2017 18:45

TheElementsSong

Given the desire of some remainers to lump all brexters in one pot, it could be seen as important to differentiate between the brexiters.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 23/09/2017 18:55

boney

And as im sure you would agree the same happens the other way round

Stopping with the generalisations and stereotypes would be a step in the right direction

histinyhandsarefrozen · 23/09/2017 18:59

Yeah elements, not all leavers are celebrating the fact that eu workers are leaving in droves or that the economy is going tits up.

They just voted to bring that about.

Perhaps they didn't realise. Confused

Heart-warming really.

TheElementsSong · 23/09/2017 19:01

Boney

So, just to be clear, if a post refers to "Brexit" (note: the offensive post in question didn't actually say "Brexiteers" at all) and "ending FOM" in context, one would be reasonably expected to conclude that the post in question must refer to everyone regardless of whether they voted in order to end FOM or not, unless the post included the word "some"?

MichaelFabricantsHair · 23/09/2017 19:30

Stopping with the generalisations and stereotypes would be a step in the right direction

Whilst that would be the mature way forward Rufus it ain't going to happen any time soon. Well not online anyway.

You know, I heard some of the most disgusting classist, disablist and ageist language after the referendum result, but I haven't used those incidents to label all remainers as being unpleasant people who use derogatory terms. Because that would make me a giant douche.

I just make sure I call people out when they use that sort of language.....the actual person doing it though. Direct approach works well, I find.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 23/09/2017 19:33

That has got to be the first time someone has said mature in conjunction with me Shock

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 23/09/2017 19:34

That’s clear then - you are being wilfully disingenuous.
Deliver choosing to twist people’s posts or to just blatantly make up stuff in a concerted effort to be goady.

MichaelFabricantsHair · 23/09/2017 19:37

Rufus Grin

TheElementsSong · 23/09/2017 19:44

You're very mature Rufus - behaviour-wise anyway Smile

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 23/09/2017 19:49

Thank you both Smile

I will tell my real life friends and work mates...they like a good laugh Grin

MichaelFabricantsHair · 23/09/2017 19:53

I for one appreciate and enjoy your one-liners of wisdom Rufus. There, you're wise as well as mature! Smile

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 23/09/2017 19:57

Oh good lord Shock

BoneyBackJefferson · 23/09/2017 21:52

TheElementsSong

I didn't say that the post was "offensive".

I agree on both counts.

TheElementsSong · 23/09/2017 21:59

I didn't say that the post was "offensive".

I've totally lost the thread now. What were we talking about again?
