GhostofFrankGrimes
There are 195 countries in the world and only 27 are part of the EU.
How do you think the other 168 countries survive? Are they all bankrupt & complete disasters? Is every country within the EU an economic success? < lol >
Just think about dear remainers.
We are leaving the EU.
Get Over It.

Have you ever looked at a map Surfer?

The other countries survive by joining their closest trading bloc, or hadn't you noticed that...

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/08/2017 10:34

Thats a bit vague mummy isn't it? How did the EU stifle any technological advances? Would collaborative working with our closest neighbours not be more beneficial? Where is the money going to come from in Brexit Britain for R&D? Remember now there's no magic money tree.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/08/2017 10:37

Nice one surfer, I see we are back to the selling Kendal Mint Cake to Botswana school of thought again.

Carolinesbeanies · 11/08/2017 10:38

"Feel like I'm going round in circles with this shit."

Thats because you are Ghost. Round and round. Stuck on the same record due to the fact theres no substance to your view point, only conjecture.

Cardinal, read the link Valentine posted from 'Hired'. Whilst the 'polls' are highly weighted and utterly expected as no one knows anything definitive at this stage, the conclusion may cheer you up.

"Ultimately, this moment may prove fruitful for the industry in the long-term as, for example, wages for UK-based engineers — which have historically been quite low relative to other markets — go up. It may also help drive enrollment in STEM fields, which has been declining in the UK over the past decade and a half, and has resulted in a massive skills gap."

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/08/2017 10:50

Caroline,

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but the cold harsh realities speak for themselves. The £ has bombed, food prices are up, uncertainty in housing market, uncertainty in businesses - some looking to move overseas. Applications for nursing down from both British and EU citizens. A brave new world of lower food standards beckons.

Oh and how could we forget a 'strong and stable' government who do not have a clue how to implement Brexit.

I do understand the Brexit mindset. It will be brilliant regardless. Just believe. God is great. Brexit means Brexit.

There is also a key word in the selective quote you provided. That word is May. As opposed to the reality of what is actually unfolding in this country right now. Of course if you worship at the altar of Brexit you are too blind to see it.

Carolinesbeanies · 11/08/2017 11:15

Ghost, read back and absorb. It all flies over your head.

Cardinal, you posted a link to Valentines 'Hired' article. Are you expecting us to act surprised that the remoaning media has picked it up? (I may have missed it but did the Independant provide a link to the original Hired article or is that a little too transparent for their liking?)

On your Brexit scientist story, let me know when he leaves. We deal with realities here, not the favoured constant drip drip of conjecture. Do you know how many high profile remainers said theyd leave the UK the day after the referendum, if we voted out? Theyre all still here. Come back when theyve gone. In the meantime, in short, either put up or shut up.

surferjet · 11/08/2017 11:27

let them leave - we want people loyal to the UK not the EU.

OP posts:
CardinalSin · 11/08/2017 11:33

Yes, all though loyal, thick as pigshit racists. That's just what we need to make little England great again...

CardinalSin · 11/08/2017 11:35

"We deal with realities here"

HAHAHAHAHA

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/08/2017 11:38

let them leave - we want people loyal to the UK not the EU.

Ah yes, the us versus them mentality. That should work well when forging new trade deals.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/08/2017 11:39

It all flies over your head.

well there are lots of flies in the Brexit Arms on account of all the bullshit being peddled. Beers flat too.

mummmy2017 · 11/08/2017 11:40

So in your view there is no chance at all the students at uni will ever come up with some amazing new ideas.
That the young school children of today will every amount to anything, couldn't possible invent or create a single thing, and only in the EU will this happen.

Carolinesbeanies · 11/08/2017 11:44

and there we have it Brexiteers. Yet another remainer exposed.

Chin chin all. Thank heavens for Brexit Wine

RandomlyGenerated · 11/08/2017 11:45

Geim and his research partner received around €12 million in EU funding for their research at Manchester. Unless the UK can match EU grants then of course they will follow the funding.

I'm sure young people will do well, probably in european universities - if they can get the visa.

research into rare diseases, cells and gene therapy and regenerative medicine was all dependent on international collaboration.

loyal, thick as pigshit racists

Didn't take long for the old favourites to be recycled.
MN Remoaners love these Brexit Arms threads - it gives them an outlet to put the boot into Brexiters.

It's all so last year...

RandomlyGenerated · 11/08/2017 12:01

That only covers funding up until the end of Horizon 2020 - what happens after that? The UK has a good track record of securing EU funding - around £1.2 billion per year - I don't see the government guaranteeing funding at those levels continuing after 2020?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 11/08/2017 12:01

until 2020 and then what?
