I think there has been a lot of change in views.

Since last June, many leavers have gone from - it'll be complicated for a couple of months but then be great - to it'll be painful/difficult for about ten/twenty years but then be great.

Perhaps if I could understand what me and my DC's have to look forward to after the ten/twenty years of pain that would be helpful.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/08/2017 10:01

*I genuinely don't understand the logic that once out of the EU everything that's wrong with the country can be improved even though it had nothing to do with the EU.

Why do you think the government are suddenly going to address issues when they've never bothered to do so before?*

Because successive govts of all stripes have abdicated responsibility repeatedly & used the EU as a hook to hang all ills on.

I wanted to leave for many reasons which have been covered by many posters on many threads, but I do acknowledge that the EU is not the bogeyman it's been painted as for other things.

One big bonus for the UK with leaving the EU is that our MPs & parliament will be forced to become wholly accountable again - that's a huge plus as far as I'm concerned.

Bearbehind · 18/08/2017 10:14

But judging by the way things are going now the EU is still going to be blamed for everything.

We aren't going to be allowed to have our cake and eat it so the government are just going to say they need to do x, y and z because of the nasty EU so we still can't address those issues.

I honestly don't see how we will ever benefit from Brexit,

TheElementsSong · 18/08/2017 10:16

EU is still going to be blamed for everything.

Not everything, Bear. We can also blame Remoaners. So now we have even more people to blame. It's brilliant, no?

mummmy2017 · 18/08/2017 10:17

Why do you think the government are suddenly going to address issues when they've never bothered to do so before?

Do you remember UKIP, and how they got votes and frightened the government so much they called a referendum.

The students and how there is now talk of looking again at it.

The revolt over who was getting council houses, and how people are still upset by this.

People on Benefits being seen to get to much money, it got capped.

It is happening.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:20

How will MPs become accountable again? Did things like the expenses scandal scare MPs into change? No. It'll be business as usual for the so-called metropolitan elites.

surferjet · 18/08/2017 10:21

honestly don't see how we will ever benefit from Brexit

That's because you are vehemently against Brexit Bear, your feelings are so entrenched that nothing will convince you.
You're all the same on here.
It's pointless discussing it.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:23

Revolt over council houses? You mean benefit bashing? You can thank the media for that not the will of the people. 7 years of austerity and a decline in living standards. Thanks for that, can't wait for more of the same after Brexit.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:24

Surfer you can't offer any benefits beyond slogans that's the issue posters have.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 18/08/2017 10:27

It would be great if MPs and Govt were more accountable but it's very odd to assume they will automatically be more accountable as an outcome of Brexit. It is purely speculation/hope, no?

There ARE concrete ways to increase accountability: We could legislate on campaign promises/lies, tighten regulations around expenses, working life, and conflicts of interests, in local government as well of course etc. Why not look at these?

Again this looks like another thing that has nothing to do with EU or Brexit.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 18/08/2017 10:29

Surfer! Surely you can tell us what we look forward to after twenty years of shite. There must be a slogan for it by now.

mummmy2017 · 18/08/2017 10:29

I mean hardworking couples on less money than a non working family.

Do you really think we have to read it in the paper to see someone with 5 kids no job, a new car, new phones and holidays abroad at the school gate to realize some people saw having children as a job.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:30

They really swallowed the take back control line didn't they? Sad!

surferjet · 18/08/2017 10:32

It's not my job to convince remainers of anything. I couldn't give a toss what people think about Brexit anymore. It's happening & that's it. There's bigger problems in the world anyway, & if you stopped crying over your picture of Jean-Claude Juncker you'd realise that.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:33

Who are these people mummy? How do you know of their circumstances and finances? It's sounds like daily mail logic and the politics of envy.

Austerity is Tory ideology to destroy the state. NHS next. Anyway, back to the nasty EU...

histinyhandsarefrozen · 18/08/2017 10:35

But you're still here. Grin Go-on, just quickly give me a couple of lines about how my life will improve as a result of brexit -

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:35

Surfer you clearly have nothing to offer except your virtual pub.

CardinalSin · 18/08/2017 10:39

"Look at how young people have voted in the last election.
How they finally are saying that we older people voted and stole their perfect world."

So why not listen to them, and cancel Brexit.

This Mensa logic is wonderful...

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/08/2017 10:41

I couldn't give a toss what people think about Brexit anymore.

Wine me too Smile

mummmy2017 · 18/08/2017 10:41

Again this looks like another thing that has nothing to do with EU or Brexit.

Are we or are we not members of the EU?
Did or did not being in the EU cause people to vote leave?
WHILE being a member these things arose, by the Government allowing these things to happen while being a member by association the EU saw and knew of these issues, as it's a world wide event, which is why the loan money to the worse effect countries, so they accept it's a worldwide need.
We are being asked to fund agency's that look into these issues , so this must mean they worry the EU, and the EU want to help sort them.
So does this not mean even if the EU are not responsible directly they acknowledge the problems but have not despite all the money managed to do anything, so can we not blame the failure of the programs as a waste of money, which could have been used in each country rather than spent on research which now seems to no results.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:43

Young people suffer tuition fees, unaffordable housing, high rents, all due to UK gov policy. And now they have Brexit. Lovely. Anyway back to the nasty EU...

histinyhandsarefrozen · 18/08/2017 10:44

Was that in answer to my post?

It's incomprehensible, sorry.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/08/2017 10:45

Or you could spend money on trident, war ships and the DUP. Shall we blame the EU mummy?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 18/08/2017 10:45

A lovely picture for remoaners to weep over...

The Brexit Arms. All welcome.
mummmy2017 · 18/08/2017 10:45

Austerity is Tory ideology to destroy the state. NHS next. Anyway, back to the nasty EU..
You do know the EU have imposed Austerity and fined countries for non compliance...
BAD EU NASTY EU
