We keep getting told the Uk can get a deal like Canada, Turkey or other non-EU countries have, without FOM.
Those deals do not provide the same privileges as EU members:
They have quotas, restrictions and must obey EU regulations

e.g. After CETA, Ron Davidson, head of international trade for the Canadian Meat Council stated:
"We do not have what we would call commercially viable access to the European market".

The deal with Turkey abolished tariffs, but did not give free acess. This is what that means:

www.ft.com/content/b4458652-f42d-11e6-8758-6876151821a6

"On a recent Saturday at the Kapikule border crossing, about 30 minutes drive from the Turkish city of Edirne, a line of trucks 4km long stretched along the highway, inching along glacially towards the Bulgarian checkpoints.
"Today is a good day", said Ibrahim Kurtukcu, a 42-year trucker who had been waiting 14 hours.
"Last week the line was 7km long".
The record is 17km. It can take up to 30 hours to get through to the other side."

Of course, UK ports (and French ports) do not have the capacity, facilities, storage space or trained staff to handle customs processing of the vast amount of British exports & imports.

Building this additional capacity - where ? - would take several years and there are no signs that even the planning stage has started.

They're voting on it now. David Davis earlier pinky-promised that he would give parliament some sort of vote on the final agreement and that should be enough and will be for most of the spineless fuckers in the HoC.

Tip for Scottish independence ...

Don't make any claim to "the pound" ... just plump for the Euro. It was Salmonds weird hectoring (telling us non-Scots what we had to do) which holed English sympathy for Scottish independence below the waterline.

(Note how this seems to be echoed in Brexiteers weird hectoring of the EU, telling them what they have to do ...)

but did they not listen to Grieve if not any their own heads

HoC votes to reject the meaningful vote amendment by 45 votes Sad.

lalalonglegs · 13/03/2017 19:01

I'm not surprised but I am really saddened. The brakes have been removed and the train has officially been given permission to run away - see you all in Armageddon, lovely Westminstenders.

HoC votes to reject the meaningful vote amendment by 45 votes

Oh FFS Sad

lalalonglegs · 13/03/2017 19:03

The Brexiteers are the ones telling us to enjoy the view Gin

Westministenders: Brexit Britain = Gridlock Britain ?
drwitch · 13/03/2017 19:06

what are they scared of ? The lords offered them (relunctant tory brexiters) a way out why did they not take it?

drwitch · 13/03/2017 19:08

Think Angela Smith has said no more ping pong Sad

Peregrina · 13/03/2017 19:08

Do you think that TM did intend to invoke Art 50 tomorrow, or has NS forced her hand?

The date now being touted is 27th March. This would be better for those of us going on the demo on 25th March, because we will be able to show Mrs May that her grasp of arithmetic is hopeless. 17 million does not equal 65 million in anyone's book.

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 19:11

Christ on a bike.....

Mistigri · 13/03/2017 19:12

When I get my vote back I swear never to vote for any MP of any party who voted for this.

Did any Tories discover a conscience?

drwitch · 13/03/2017 19:13

guardian says not a single tory voted in favour of the ammendments!

comfortandjoyce · 13/03/2017 19:14

Great results, now we can negotiate without both hands tied behind our backs.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 13/03/2017 19:14

Yes and yes. May and other prominent politicians seemed to be under the misapprehension that Sturgeon was bluffing. I suspect there will be some meetings now about whether they'd rather a soft Brexit or Scotland (and potentially NI) leaving the UK.

lalalonglegs · 13/03/2017 19:14

Misti - from the Guardian

Not a single Conservative MP voted with the opposition in support of the second Lords amendment, the one that would have given parliament a veto on the outcome of the Brexit talks. Hmm Hmm Hmm

lalalonglegs · 13/03/2017 19:15

Et tu, Ken Clarke?

twofingerstoEverything · 13/03/2017 19:15

17 million does not equal 65 million
...would look great on a placard on the 25th!

NinonDeLanclos · 13/03/2017 19:15

Well my so-called Remain MP is history. I hope that helps.

Mistigri · 13/03/2017 19:17

Tories showing us that they are all cunts after all.

I'm disappointed that even apparently sensible people like Anna Soubry put the party/ their career first. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but I am disgusted.

comfortandjoyce · 13/03/2017 19:17

17 million does not equal 65 million in anyone's book.

Children can't vote, non-citizens can't vote, those who can't be bothered to vote don't count. 17 beats 16. Simples.

boredofbrexit · 13/03/2017 19:18

Quite irrelevant as Sturgeon will not get a leave vote. That was all gameplay today and most people know it. Her approval ratings are slipping and she is playing for time.

Mistigri · 13/03/2017 19:20

Thank goodness for Nicola eh? Who'd have thought I'd ever line up on the same side as a nationalist.

Mistigri · 13/03/2017 19:21

I hope my Tory voting colleagues are paying attention. I suspect that a fair few will be voting Lib Dem at the next election.

Badders123 · 13/03/2017 19:22

Quoting a fictional meerkat?

That convinces me!!!

Ffs

Leavers couldn't talk me out of a burning car, let alone into the most backward political step since WW2.
