We have heard much talk about "the will of the people" recently. If you are not one of the people supporting the Tory hard Brexit or "Brexit at any cost", you may be interested in "Stop the silence", which gives a voice to the rest of us - those who voted Leave thinking of a Norway-style model, those who thought they were saving the NHS, those who voted Remain. Please like on FB and re-tweet.

Bojo's dithering gish gabble yesterday, was hedging his bets.
He knows there's a job up for grabs, within the year, and Govey is re joining the cabinet.
May is already toast.

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 01/03/2017 20:01

Because you are completely ignoring the plight of britons abroad. I hear the sympathy for eu citizens in this country and I agree, but none at all for Britons abroad and that is very odd indeed.

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 01/03/2017 20:03

£65 quick pay it before they change their minds lol...

Bananagio · 01/03/2017 20:04

May and her pandering to Majors "bastards" seems to be the main culprit here

Wow, get out of Bananagios way, massive dick swinging out of control.

Eh Anon Confused? I was referring to the Eurosceptics of the Tory party who John Major famously described as "bastards". So quoting John Major - who could be called many things but "massive dick swinger" certainly wouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind.

Remind me who put Brits abroad in this predicament in the first place?

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 01/03/2017 20:05

Oh how exciting for you. You clearly can't wait for the shit to hit the fan once you have all played your part in buggering things up. I know you do not like the conservatives, but do you think you could take a second to consider the welfare of your country?

woman12345 · 01/03/2017 20:07

What country?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 01/03/2017 20:08

Oh how exciting for you. You clearly can't wait for the shit to hit the fan once you have all played your part in buggering things up. I know you do not like the conservatives, but do you think you could take a second to consider the welfare of your country?

The Tories are doing this all by themselves. Nobody - apart from the Lords it appears is listening to the 48%. Voting to leave the biggest economic trading block in the world putting jobs at risk doesn't seem to be considering the welfare of the country.

Peregrina · 01/03/2017 20:10

Remind me who put Brits abroad in this predicament in the first place?

One David Cameron - who a) promised Britains abroad the vote disregarding the time they had lived abroad, but didn't get round to passing the legislation and b) was daft enough to hold a Referendum to appease the right wing of the Tory party. He was not smart like Harold Wilson was, to not hold a Referendum until he knew what the answer would be.

Where is DC now? God knows, but he is still a wealthy man. He won't be wondering how to eek out his pension on the Costas, or wondering whether he can afford to come back home.

twofingerstoEverything · 01/03/2017 20:12

but do you think you could take a second to consider the welfare of your country?

Won't somebody please think of the country... [wrings hands...]

As Ghost says, who the fuck put the country in this position?

Peregrina · 01/03/2017 20:12

I know you do not like the conservatives, but do you think you could take a second to consider the welfare of your country?

We have said time and time again, show us your plans for Brexit. So far, we get hot air. Yes, May was going to do a Trade Deal with India and went off there with much fanfare. Her return was much more subdued because the Indians wanted Visas for their citizens in order for a deal to be made. Just one example.

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 01/03/2017 20:13

You are sabotaging your own country, because you would rather it went the other way.

It didn"t go the other way, nothing is going to fix that for you. You are only making things worse for yourselves.

Mistigri · 01/03/2017 20:14

Because you are completely ignoring the plight of britons abroad.

I'm a Briton abroad and I am delighted with the Lords vote which I believe is first and foremost in the interests of natural justice, and at the same time positively helps to secure the position of people like me, for whom the main threat is that negotiations descend quickly into acrimony.

woman12345 · 01/03/2017 20:16

main threat is that negotiations descend quickly into acrimony
Oliver Letwin has said as much too.

Sorry to disrupt thread, but Misti where do you think the Fillon scandal leaves Macron and the unspeakable one?

woman12345 · 01/03/2017 20:17

your own country which one are you talking about?

Bananagio · 01/03/2017 20:19

Because you are completely ignoring the plight of britons abroad. I hear the sympathy for eu citizens in this country and I agree, but none at all for Britons abroad and that is very odd indeed.
I am one of said Brits living abroad. Thanks for the faux concern yer which I will file in the same place as the sudden extreme concern which started to be shown by some Leave voters towards the Southern EU countries including the one I live in. And my response would be the same - stop pretending to give a shit about people like me or the welfare of the country of my son and my husband to further your agenda! I am happy with the decision in the Lords not because I think for one minute it will stop Brexit but because it is the right thing to do. The EU didn't kick us out FFS- we chose to leave and then we moan because they are sticking to what they have always said i.e. no negotiations before A50! We chose to leave, we are talking about people who's lives, families, work, support network, finances etc were suddenly chucked up in the air last year in June by a decision my country made. I have every sympathy with my fellow migrants living in the UK because there is only one country trying to use them as pawns in upcoming negotiations. And because I know what it was like to wake up the morning after Brexit and feel that suddenly nothing in my life felt secure.

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 01/03/2017 20:21

The UK collectively

Peregrina · 01/03/2017 20:21

You are sabotaging your own country, because you would rather it went the other way.

What exactly do you think we are doing to sabotage it? Is writing to your MP to say, please tell me what the plans are for Brexit, sabotage? You would think they would have a few ideas now. Maybe they are in need of a few old envelopes - so that they could draft a few plans on the backs of them?

It's not as though we are going round creating road blocks or planting bombs. Please cut out the empty rhetoric.

twofingerstoEverything · 01/03/2017 20:22

You are sabotaging your own country, because you would rather it went the other way.

Yes. I would like to see nothing more than the UK collapse, just so I can be right. In fact, I am willing it to happen right now.

This is sarcasm by the way.

Do you realise how absurd your rhetoric sounds?

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 01/03/2017 20:22

Oh how exciting for you. You clearly can't wait for the shit to hit the fan once you have all played your part in buggering things up. I know you do not like the conservatives, but do you think you could take a second to consider the welfare of your country?

What now? Hmm

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 01/03/2017 20:24

If this all goes tits up it will be the fault of the conservative government

It wont be the fault of the people who voted remain

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 01/03/2017 20:25

Of course if it goes well it will all be down to "all the way may"

Peregrina · 01/03/2017 20:27

It wont be the fault of the people who voted remain

I wouldn't even blame the majority of Leavers, apart from the racist bigots - which was perhaps 10-15% of Leavers.

YERerseISootTHEwindy · 01/03/2017 20:34

I can very very much sympathise with your situation bananagio. My concern is anything but faux I can assure you. My friend did not for one second believe she was going to be kicked out of the uk. I really do not believe either that it was ever on the cards to be honest.
I was rather hoping that British nationals could be granted the same rights unilaterally for personal reasons and it is nothing to do with furthering any agenda.
Teresa may has asked the EU to guarantee the same in return, but the EU will not negotiate before article 50 is triggered. Surely on this issue the EU should have been just as keen to do the right thing...Surely that in itself is a bit of a dick move from the EU even if we chose to be out. They are doing exactly the same thing to you and it is not your fault just because you are British.

Peregrina · 01/03/2017 20:37

Teresa may has asked the EU to guarantee the same in return, but the EU will not negotiate before article 50 is triggered.

Special pleading again. She knew the terms.

Once we are a third country outside the EU it will be up to the individual members to say what their policy is, or at least that was my understanding.
