If you voted for "Brexit at any cost" this will not be of any interest to you. If you voted Leave because you wanted the best for your family and UK, or you voted Remain, please consider supporting Gina Miller's campaign. She is pushing for a meaningful Parliamentary vote at the end of Brexit negotiations, ie with an option to remain in the EU if the deal we get isn't as good as what we have already. Most of my friends who voted Leave have said "Yeah, I wouldn't mind", as however we voted, most of us want the best for our children.

Yes or what about orban who stands shoulder to shoulder with junker shares platform's and had razor wire fence, far right patrols who beat up migrants chasing them down with dogs. What about Poland etc etc etc

doubleshotespresso · 26/02/2017 20:59

Just what is so wrong with inner M25 people Cosy?

Err...that they aren't aware there is an outer-M25 perhaps. You know, the rest of the country that voted out.

And that makes your opinion somehow more valid Cosy? Confused

I detest how Brexit has made this type of attitude suddenly acceptable.

caroldecker · 26/02/2017 21:03

Naimer My point exactly. There is no way the government can ask to stay in on the current terms after A50 unless all the EU agree. It is not in their power.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 26/02/2017 21:12

Niamer Thanks for clarifying - I had misunderstood what you meant.

Thats very good of you to come back wrong

Hope you have had a good weekend Smile

TwoLeftSocks · 26/02/2017 21:26

Signed (outside of the M25!)

Niamer · 26/02/2017 21:26

theFullMrExit I understood that Orben had disagreed with the EU immigration policy.
Are you aware of the benefits of EU membership?

OP posts:
boredofbrexit · 26/02/2017 21:31

Niamer...you sound keen to tell us all about them.

allegretto · 26/02/2017 21:33

I don't understand why leavers say it is undemocratic to have a vote on something concrete rather than an idea and a bunch of lies. I don't think we can actually afford to leave atm and i would like to see that money go to the NHS.

Bolshybookworm · 26/02/2017 21:35

It would appear that the EU is allowing the countries you mention their political freedom, fall Hmm
You may not like it but that would suggest that the EU is not as authoritarian as you seem to think.

2020 will be too late to save our economy tbh and the absolute shiteness of the current Labour Party means we'll be stuck with the Bluekips for a looooong time. I feel like 50% of this country are going to be ignored for a generation off the back of a single, poorly planned and fairly filthily run referendum. You may think that's great for a healthy democracy but I don't.

EnormousTiger · 26/02/2017 21:54

I am a Remainer. I was not against the Miller litigation but the Bill will deal with the issue and after that we need to move to Brexit. It is uncertainty which is more of a killer for business (and people). I would not support her proposal

lalalonglegs · 26/02/2017 22:03

Thanks Niamer, I've joined too. Gina Miller is a Star.

Tryingtosaveup · 26/02/2017 22:12

No, she's a pain in the neck.

TheFullMrexit · 26/02/2017 22:41

Yes I am aware of benefits and they are crumbs thrown to us in the face of the loss of freedoms we have fought for.

TheFullMrexit · 26/02/2017 22:42

Bolshy have you not seen vorshet Brussels man sp. Saying they need to integrate more, more union, more than army, regulation across board.

TheFullMrexit · 26/02/2017 22:45

Bolshy I think it's very healthy for democracy to give the people a vote on a union that has changed dramatically since the initial votes decades ago. It was right and proper to ask the people, do you still want to be part of this, as it stands now with all the changes. The people said, no we don't like it, we want too leave. You can't say we have not given it to shot

Kaija · 26/02/2017 22:48

Loss of what freedoms? What do you think you are going to be able to do after leaving that you can't do now?

Niamer · 26/02/2017 22:54

It is uncertainty which is more of a killer for business (and people)

I agree. Brexit brings years of uncertainty for both. One would hope after 2 years of negotiations we would have a slightly clearer idea of how Brexit would look and would be better informed to make a decision once we know the package. I compare it to buying my house. I put in an offer but didn't fully commit to pay up until I had the results of the survey. If it had had rising damp and a leaky roof I would have second thoughts. That would have been acceptable. It is what reasonable people do. The narrow vote to Leave in the advisory referendum should not have given the mandate for a Brexit at absolutely any cost. I feel disgruntled that I didn't vote for our economy to be destroyed but absolutely furious that our children had no say, no representation from most of the MPs and yet will suffer the consequences perhaps more than any of us.

OP posts:
A4Document · 26/02/2017 23:19

absolutely furious that our children had no say

No-one (or their children) had a say in the 90s when the Maastricht and Lisbon treaties were signed.

Brexit brings years of uncertainty for both.

Life is always uncertain, and so is the EU.

boredofbrexit · 26/02/2017 23:24

absolutely fusious. ffs. says it all.
take a chill pill love

caroldecker · 27/02/2017 00:35

Naimer When will yu accept that legally the current deal it is over. The only way back is to re-apply after we have left. The best thing you can do is campaign for that. UKIP were a minor irritant for many years but got what they wanted - you can too with the right approach.

These threads are primarily interesting because they demonstrate that leavers lied when they said they voted primarily for parliamentary sovereignty - something they are now ferociously opposed to.

So it was the foreigners after all, huh?

Major decisions of a constitutional nature should require not just a meaningful vote in parliament, but on-going parliamentary scrutiny.
