I've only given a tenner, but there are plenty of rich people (unless it's all stealth boasting about dipique candles) here, so we should be able to help.

It's currently at 18.507k and needs 70!

One of the most vocal Leave voters I know is rolling in it and can't wait to get rid of the EU so he can roll back workers' rights and make even more profit on his business.

Suppermummy02 · 10/12/2016 19:39

the not haves are going to get poorer in the short term
Where is the evidence for this? Once we escape the shekels of the EU, we can do our own trade deals and access cheaper products around the world. I just read that McDonald's are moving their HQ here to actually escape the EU.

I don't get the bitterness about a PP's DC not getting the chance to travel. You don't actually need to be cash rich to to travel and work in the EU.
I did that in America, why do we need to be in a political Union for it?
But in reality you do need middle class privilege to do it, from money and language skills to not having to support your extended family. The working class have bugger all chance to go off travelling around Europe.

norahy said that they voted leave and now regret it

Exactly! I trust the EU government alot more than the UK one to protect workers rights.

Keep donating everybody, 57k, so should defo reach target soon!!

Wow, one person out of 17 million.

I know of someone who has said that if there was a second referendum then they would vote leave as it was the democratic result. They were a staunch Remainer, but is very much disliking the idea that you keep going until you get the result you want.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 10/12/2016 20:18

Lovely piglet Smile

One or two people said they hadnt heard of anyone regreting voting leave

I pointed out that just a few posts ago that some one did

A few people on another thread said they regretted voting remain

To be fair you would have to be fairly fucking stupid to think that no one from either side may have changed their mind

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 10/12/2016 20:19

I dont even know how you voted Grin

Twogoats · 10/12/2016 20:32

I dont get all these people saying that we can't legally leave though? There must be some way to leave, otherwise the EU is a dictatorship?!?

Suppermummy02 · 10/12/2016 20:39

How is that possible? all EU law is being transcribed into UK law when we leave? Workers rights will be IDENTICAL. Confused

After we leave, the UK can freely repeal any laws they don't like, which is essentially the Tory party donors lobbying to get rid of anything that might cost them money. As in workers' rights, environmental regulations, human rights etc. did you not see what Jacob Rees Mogg came out with?
direct from the horse's mouth

Melassa · 10/12/2016 21:06

Bold fail. And there was more from Michael Gove. Funny how they kept that quiet during the campaign.

Suppermummy02 · 10/12/2016 21:18

After we leave, the UK can freely repeal any laws they don't like

Ummm no. because they will have to win votes in Parliament and an election of the entire country endorsing any changes. Confused

So it would only happen if a majority wanted it to happen. aka democracy.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/12/2016 21:28

we are leading country on workers rights and have been before eu we don't need eu to give us workers rights.

we can however cut out any crap and as supper says - if they want to win votes they have boundaries.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/12/2016 21:29

twogoats the EU has been described as Alcatraz actually.

ElfontheShelfIsWATCHINGYOUTOO · 10/12/2016 21:30

The eu should be so brilliant people want to stay in it FFS, it should have other countries begging to be seen as European to get in ( countries with forward economies not poor ones), it should not have to crack whips to force countries to stay.

WrongTrouser · 10/12/2016 21:34

Oh, I thought we were going to carry on having general elections after we left the EU so that we can elect politicians to run the country in the way the majority wants. Are we not?

Melassa · 10/12/2016 21:34

Of course, however with a large future Tory majority and ineffectual Opposition do you really think there will be no attempt to roll back a lot of these rights? It'll be chipped away at, first to go maternity rights or parental leave, then working hours, then there'll be some environmental protection law repealed, it'll start with something small and gather pace. A bit like what's been happening with the NHS and welfare state.

MarieBurnham · 10/12/2016 21:36

It's only gone up 1000 in an hour :( I'm off to bed soon and it's still 10k short

OP posts:
Melassa · 10/12/2016 21:37

Also a lot of workers rights are crap in the UK compared to other EU countries. Having lived in 4 including the UK I can confirm that first hand. Also maternity care is of a lower standard and maternity leave dire in the UK compared to many other EU countries.

WrongTrouser · 10/12/2016 21:38

I think the argument that we should stay in the EU to protect us from the actions of a parliament & government we have democratically elected is one of the weaker remain arguments.

Suppermummy02 · 10/12/2016 21:38

Melassa

So because you dont like the choices the British people have made you think the EU council should dictate the laws in the UK. Isn't that a bit a lot like a dictatorship?

HeCantBeSerious · 10/12/2016 21:39

Also, we live in a democracy. You can't stamp your feet just because you don't like the result.

We don't live in a direct democracy though. The people gave their view. The government don't have to listen to it. Their job is to act in the interests of the public, not to take orders from them.

WrongTrouser · 10/12/2016 21:39

and profoundly undemocratic.

Suppermummy02 · 10/12/2016 21:39

The more I hear remoaners arguments the more I want to run to the hills screaming 'HELP'. I mean wft.

HeCantBeSerious · 10/12/2016 21:40

you think the EU council should dictate the laws in the UK

Get your facts straight. All of 16% of laws made here last year were influenced by the EU. Doesn't sound much like they control us to me!
