Implications of not invoking Article 50

So there is plenty of talk about whether or not Article 50 will actually be triggered.

Let's say that it's not, what do you think the implications will be? Will the whole sorry mess just get swept under the carpet? Will we be forevermore looked upon as the laughing stock of the EU? Will it's initiate a conversation and possibly action to shake up British politics for the better or worse?

Would like to hear anyone's thoughts.

This is based on people getting angry about an EEA deal with free movement for which both main parties are behind.

Without an EEA deal we are totally screwed though so both parties have to be behind it. It is EEA deal or vote down the referendum in parliament in my view. Leaving the possibility of triggering article 50 hanging will not help markets.

My MP wrote back to me to explain that he will vote to support the referendum as the 'people have spoken' but that the campaign went beyond normal claim and counter claim and that he has also had lots of letters expressing 'buyers remorse'. I do need to stop thinking about or hearing about 'bregret', I fear it is messing with my mental health!

The racist section of the Leave campaign scares and angers me. Hearing a 'Leaver' on Sky News reciting back the 'Breaking point' UKIP poster brought me out in a cold sweat, the comparisons to 1930s Germany are too much. Also, slight difficulties in making a GP appointment is breaking point? She perhaps ought to chat to a Syrian one day.

I totally agree (im a sour elitist remainer allegedly) but from what I believe a sizeable proportion of leavers voted out because of immigration, that 'passion/hate' is still very current and leavers keep telling me that money doesn't matter and what price freedom. So thats why I feel a UKIP surge to mop up 'we were lied to /we are full / why aren't they being deported" crowd.

The stories of people shouting at people of Indian or Pakistani descent that they were supposed to go home makes me face palm and then boil up inside!

I think they will find money matters at some point.

I would be happier with the idea of a European super state than the 'little england' I think I am going to be stuck in so I recognise I am fairly extreme. I dont mind being called sour/bad loser on this one though, it is too important!
