Boris outmaneovered. Et tu Gove & Corbyn? The Westministenders Hunger Games Continues

Following the Machiavellian Govian shambles? Utterly gobsmacked at the Labour clusterfuck?

Who will strike next?

Who will the shadowy hand of Osborne back?
Can Gove be launched back into space and back to the planet he came from?
Can May save the country from almost certain doom?
Will Leadsom patronise us all to death (whilst silently stabbing people in the back with a sweet smile)?
Can Johnson make a decision he can stick to, and can we persuade him to give up being a politician?
Will Steven Crabb get rid of that god awful beard?

Will Corbyn shoot himself in the other foot?
Will Angela Eagle get a spine and just stand?
Who the fuck is Owen Smith?
Will the Blairites be foiled and damned?
Are momentum a bunch of thugs or a force for a better, for the people?

Will Farage disappear back under his rock?
Will people wake up to Arron Banks?
What will Dominic Cummings destroy next?

Have we seen a coup d'état?
How do we improve democracy and representation?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

X post. It was in fact the UK lobbying for it.

TempsPerdu · 02/07/2016 21:18

Dead in the water - sorry!

Izlet · 02/07/2016 21:22

So that was another Leave lie. How many are we up to now?

  • EU cash for NHS - no sorry, that was a typo on the bus.
  • no immigration - no sorry, didn't mean it
  • no negative fiscal effects - Project fear is now Project Happening right now
  • EU wants to foist TTIP on the unsuspecting Tories - pull the other one

Did I miss anything?

I'm shocked about TTIP. I'd heard rejecting it was a reason to leave. Howeverv it makes sense especially in light of Goves shareholders for public services agenda. Ugh.

Globetrotter100 · 02/07/2016 21:42

'We are soon to become the Former United Kingdom or 'FUK''

Absolutely made my day, that did Smile

Another shot in the foot for the Corbyn cause?

www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jul/02/corbyn-keeps-watson-arms-length

Jeremy Corbyn’s aides are refusing to let Labour deputy leader Tom Watson hold a one-to-one meeting with him, claiming that Watson will try to “bully” the leader into resigning.

A senior Labour source, close to the embattled leader, said they had blocked Watson from talking privately to Corbyn because they have a “duty of care. They [Watson’s aides] want Watson to be on his own with Corbyn so that he can jab his finger at him,” the source said.

“We are not letting that happen. He’s a 70-year-old [sic] man. We have a duty of care … This is not a one-off. There is a culture of bullying. Maybe it’s a Blairite/Brownite thing.”

Remember this is being said about a man these people want as PM to do the deals with the EU and Russia.

Mail on Sunday cover

Top half dedicated to the story on page 8
'Johnson: Gove is a political psychopath'
(article by Boris's sister)

The lead story however is HYPOCRITE.
An article about Andrea Leadsom.

Ouch.

There's a very goady thread elsewhere about the March which marchers have arrived on to share the best signs. I liked the "I'm really quite cross about this" one.

officerhinrika · 02/07/2016 22:16

Just read that Guardian article Red, which aides are they? Seamus Milne? Someone like that?

RedToothBrush · 02/07/2016 22:18

Are the knives now out for the shadowy hand of Osborne? Whilst making Leadsom good at the same time?

The independent are running with a story about how Osborne stopped Leadsom from getting a cabinet position.

He’s a 70-year-old [sic] man. We have a duty of care Confused What?! Oh boo fucking hoo. Piss or get off the pot Corbyn.

noblegiraffe · 02/07/2016 22:53

To be fair, Tom Watson is awful and no one should be put in a room with him.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/07/2016 23:05

Have you seen the DM nodding approvingly at May's spotless carpets (not a euphemism)? Honestly, who gives two fucks as to the state of her soft furnishings.

HemanOrSheRa · 02/07/2016 23:05

Grin noble. Although presumably there would be other people in the room too. So if Tom was a nasty old meanie poo poo head and JC was frightened, they could jump in and defend the poor old codger.

Chalalala · 03/07/2016 07:18

Remember this is being said about a man these people want as PM to do the deals with the EU and Russia.

And so what? I'm sure Putin is delightful to the elderly.

I love the throwaway "maybe it's a brownite/blairite thing" at the end. How old are these people? My toddler can make more subtle passive agressive digs.

An interesting and amusing look at UK politics right now. Hopefully the link works properly.

Girlgonewild · 03/07/2016 07:33

I hope May gets it. She will be good.

As for our EU conundrum today's preference for me is serve notice 1 Jan 2018 (not 2017) and say we will apply to stay in the EEA. Then from 2020 when the notice expires voters have a chance to vote a party that wants out of the EEA (or even to rejoin the full EU I suppose).

(EEA is what all EU states are currently in and Norway etc and it means free movement of people, paying into the EU and free trade so will suit the almost half of people who voted to remain in but will comply with what brexiters voted (to leave the EU) although it does mean we accept EU laws but have no say in them - the main thing we remainers thought was relaly silly about voting leave - that you keep the same EU laws but have no say in what they say and yes we have massive say - I comment on draft EU directives all the time and have for decades despite brexit saying we have no say)

Chalalala · 03/07/2016 07:37

Just had a little Sunday morning DM browse.

They are leading with Theresa May's "softer" side and unsuccessful attempts to have children.

How deeply depressing. We haven't moved on from the 19th century, have we.

I also learnt that Leadsom had voted against gay marriage, always good to have my irrational dislike vindicated.

GingerIvy · 03/07/2016 07:40

There's no way the EU will patiently wait for another almost 18 months for us to trigger A50. There's a limit and they could reach a point where they are saying that us delaying is putting their status in jeopardy as it increases uncertainty and further influences world finance. I don't think people will want the EEA as it's basically most of the same that we have now, without any say, and what's the point then?

GingerIvy · 03/07/2016 07:41

Are they going to look into Gove and his marital relations to have children next? Why is this kind of thing acceptable for a female politician, but not brought up for a male? So annoying. Why do they have to explore the "softer" side? Is tomorrow going to be Gove's "softer" side article?

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 03/07/2016 07:41

Completely off topic, but people who are against gay marriage do my head in.

Chalalala · 03/07/2016 07:47

GingerIvy because clearly May has to prove that she's a "real" woman with maternal feelings and a nurturing side. Not one of those heartless unnatural career-obsessed shrews.

Oh sorry was that a rhetorical question Grin

GingerIvy · 03/07/2016 07:50

Chalala Yes, rhetorical. It's so maddening. I wish she'd turn around to the reporters publicly and say "Did you ask the male candidates about whether or not they struggled to have children? As they're men, perhaps you need to report on whether or not they had "strong swimmers?" I expect to see that article in the media tomorrow." Grin

Chalalala · 03/07/2016 07:54

I really don't want to know about Gove's marital relation and strong (?) swimmers, though Sad
