Can we laugh or cry yet?

Are you still sane?

Will this insanity ever end?

In tears at boris ... Grin. Sorry but i am loving this. It's the most cheerful I've been in a thoroughly grim week.

StillSmallVoiceOfQualms · 30/06/2016 13:32

Just catching up. It's like Murder on the Orient Express for old Boris!

And who on earth is Owen Smith?

InShockReally · 30/06/2016 13:32

Made me Smile

Have Boris and Jeremy been stabbed in the back? Please can we have some leaders?
GingerIvy · 30/06/2016 13:35

Quite possibly the worst headline ever.

'People believe the fingers of George Osborne are behind Gove's decision to stand'

The World at One
BBC Radio 4

TheBathroomSink · 30/06/2016 13:38

Clearly Gove is going to be considered a puppet, and the argument is going to be over who is operating him on any given day - his wife, Osbourne, Dacre, Murdoch...

MrsLupo · 30/06/2016 13:38

Er...recently resigned DWP secretary. That Owen Smith.

MrsLupo · 30/06/2016 13:39

Gove looks a bit like a sock puppet, really. Maybe his nickname should be Glove.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 13:39

Clearly Gove is going to be considered a puppet

I can see all the ventriloquist dummy memes being created right now!

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 13:40

Plus hasn't Sarah Vine used their marriage as the subject of a lot of her columns? Those will be raked over.

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 13:44

In more potentially good news:
HSBC are committed to London
Before the referendum, the bank, which has 47,000 workers in the UK, said it could look to shift 1,000 jobs to Paris in the event of a Brexit.

On Thursday Mr Flint said: “Our presence in Europe is well established; we have a very big bank in France, so we’ve got clarity as to what we’re doing in Europe and we’re pursuing that. This is the time to be reflective, not reactive.”

Now, we know that the Big Red Button is delayed until late this year/early next. So this does makes sense to a degree. They do seem to be binding time and keeping cool.

BUT I also wonder about this too.

Mitzy LOL at John Smith's ashes. Bless John. Miss him

I will be a rabble rouser for Keir Starmer. He has gravitas and intelligence.
Actually think dear Yvette would be great (but she needs to divorce Ed or it won't work)

Why are they putting a patsy up for the job? Don't they want to win an election?

TheBathroomSink · 30/06/2016 13:45

Anna Soubry: "We've had enough of these boys messing about". She's backing May.

Showmethewaytogohome · 30/06/2016 13:46

Red maybe the cityboys are putting the pressure on the Torys

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 13:50

Quite possibly the worst headline ever

'People believe the fingers of George Osborne are behind Gove's decision to stand'

snort

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 13:51

So I imagine things will be a bit frosty now between the Osbornes and the Camerons too?

MrsLupo · 30/06/2016 13:52

recently resigned DWP secretary

By which I meant shadow, obvs.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 13:52

Show I like Keir Starmer too. Would it be very shallow to say I think he looks quite impressive too?

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 13:53

Gove is way to intelligent to be anyone's puppet. And why wouldnt he take Osborne's advice, he is Gove's friend and a great chancellor.

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 13:54

Boris Johnson's father Stanley, who says he's abroad "1,000 miles away" says he's "sorry that Boris is not one of those candidates" for the Conservative leadership

He says he listened to his son's speech on Skype and was "as surprised as you were by the very last line" - when Boris Johnson said he would not run for leader.

Asked why he thought Boris Johnson had made that decision, his father adds: "Et tu Brute is my comment on that."

"Stabbed by Michael Gove?," the interviewer suggests.

"Et tu Brute was my comment," he repeats.

You too, Brutus?

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 13:57

Oh ffs, we have the juiciest Tory back-stabbing storyline in years, and Corbyn is still making headlines for a dubious Israel/ISIS comment.

Get a grip, Labour!!!

Showmethewaytogohome · 30/06/2016 13:59

Mitzy It absolutely is shallow - and so am I! He is gert lush Smile

I think he would get an awful lot of votes (well mine anyway)

TheBathroomSink · 30/06/2016 14:00

He is Gove's friend - I'm not sure that's a particularly secure position today!

TheBathroomSink · 30/06/2016 14:02

mitzy and showme - yes, Keir Starmer is quite impressive, and quite easy to listen to, as well.

GingerIvy · 30/06/2016 14:02

Education Secretary Nicky Morgan is asked on the BBC News Channel whether she has been offered a job in a future Gove cabinet - she has announced she is backing the Justice Secretary for Conservative leader.

"There's not a sausage being offered, that's not why I'm doing it," she says.

She says she backs Mr Gove as a social reformer and reiterates her belief that the Conservative leader must have been a Leave campaigner.
