BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith says "the get Boris campaign is up and running and you wonder if he could survive" in the wake of Theresa May's bid for the Tory party leadership.
Norman says Mrs May had done a "hatchet job" on Mr Johnson, particularly when she raised the issue of his negotiations with the EU, which led to him bringing back water canons to London which she then vetoed the use of on the streets of the capital.
On her remarks that she's "not a showy politician", Norman suggests that Mrs May was referring to the former London mayor.
"Again and again, the knives were going into Boris Johnson," he says.
