Can we laugh or cry yet?

Are you still sane?

Will this insanity ever end?

Yes, that's the quote that swung it for me.

We need less posturing and more common sense.

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 10:18

Nearly new water cannons Grin

May is smart and competent and experienced.

I have a major parting of the ways with her over ECHR.

But out of this shower of shites, she is the one who can best inspire confidence.

Red - never has a "leak" been quite so obviously fake.

They didn't even bother hiding the garden fork beside the gaping hole in the paddling pool.

Grin

I just wasn't sure WTF Gove was up to.

Hamishandthefoxes · 30/06/2016 10:20

She's also said she's not going to withdraw from the ECHR.

That's a politicians promise, clearly, so probably means not tomorrow, but it's better than Gove who Cameron described as enjoying destruction.

Showmethewaytogohome · 30/06/2016 10:22

DoinIt Great article. Does that mean a group or body is planning to take this to court - it wasn't clear to me. I've said before I would be very happy to contribute to a crowd fund for any body that is able to take on the Government - I'm sure I will not be the only one. 16 million people x £1 would be more than a good start!

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 10:26

I think I'm for May too.

Crabb is a homophobe and homophobes tend to be cunts in all areas of their life #science.

Still in shock at Gove. I can't believe Johnson doesn't want to be PM. I do think this is his 'now or never' moment if he ever wants to see his abundant bottom get inside No 10.

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 10:29

Showme - there is nothing to take to court yet.

But it seems that there are grounds for challenging this.

I think there are other ones too around Scotland and the GFA.

HalleLouja · 30/06/2016 10:29

Mitzy I think Bojo wanted to be PM until the Leave vote. Then he could claim that he is campaigning for the best deal we can get in the EU etc etc. Now he will have to get his hands dirty and he doesn't like that.

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 10:30

An Englishman, Irishman and Scotsman walked into a bar. When the Englishman realised the drinks weren't free he wanted to go, so they all had to leave.

TheBathroomSink · 30/06/2016 10:31

I don't know, Mitzy, I think it must look like an awful lot of work to Johnson at the moment.

Perhaps his latest stroke of genius is to let someone else do the hard work, assume the next GE will probably unseat whoever is in charge of the Tories, because whole swathes of people are going to be pissed off whatever happens, and then sweep back in once it all calms down a bit?

HalleLouja · 30/06/2016 10:32

Bathroom there is probably some truth in that.

howabout · 30/06/2016 10:32

I am declaring for team Boris on the basis that he is being back by David Davis and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Theresa May would not be my first choice for protecting civil liberties. If Chris Grayling and Alan "we risk seeing a House of Commons which is stuffed full of low-achievers" Duncan are backing her that makes me even more uncomfortable.

Blue collar "if my single mother could do it why can't you" conservatives like Stephen Crabbe are the worst sort in my view.

I assume Liam Fox, Michael Gove etc are standing to make sure there are enough Leave candidates to transfer votes from when getting down to the last 2.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 10:33

'Samantha Cameron has told friends she will never speak to the Goves again.'

I believe the Goves are godparents to some of the Cameron kids. I wonder what the etiquette is in these situations.

'Take your Noah's Ark back and shove it up your jacksie?'

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 10:34

Well its 10.35am
The deadline for entry for the leadership is 12.00noon.

Where's Boris?
He's not declared and I've missed it has he?

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 10:35

Maybe you're right Bathroom and Halle. I suppose he could be blanching at the idea of the hard work that lies ahead for whoever becomes PM. I suppose we'll soon be able to tell by the ferocity of his campaigning. But the fact he has Lynton Crosby on board suggests to me it's something he wants really badly, no matter what dirty tricks need to be pulled out of the bag.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 10:36

Ah. Well if he doesn't declare I suppose that might be a clue that he's thinking 'nah, not right now'. Grin

DoinItFine · 30/06/2016 10:36

Nope, Boris still to declare.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 10:37

Unless he's going to dart in last minute on a zipwire?

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 10:37

BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith says "the get Boris campaign is up and running and you wonder if he could survive" in the wake of Theresa May's bid for the Tory party leadership.

Norman says Mrs May had done a "hatchet job" on Mr Johnson, particularly when she raised the issue of his negotiations with the EU, which led to him bringing back water canons to London which she then vetoed the use of on the streets of the capital.

On her remarks that she's "not a showy politician", Norman suggests that Mrs May was referring to the former London mayor.

"Again and again, the knives were going into Boris Johnson," he says.

Poor Johnson....

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 10:38

I think Boris was always set to declare right before the deadline

howabout · 30/06/2016 10:39

Ruth Davidson is backing Stephen Crabb so I am not sure who to believe re his homophobic sentiments. His record so far on disability benefits and universal credit is of more concern to me.

Felascloak · 30/06/2016 10:40

Just listened to Theresa May's speech. She absolutely killed it, I think she s the only person with the experience to get us out of this mess so I'm 100% behind her. I'm not a Tory voter but I'm surprised how much better I feel about the whole thing after listening to her.

mitzy I th ought her focus on taking over from DC in building an inclusive society, and specifically raising gay marriage was a bit of a knife in the back of Crabb.

We still need a GE though, I think that even more as May put forward pretty much a whole manifesto.

Boris is dead in the water. Maybe Gove and DC have made up.

JustABigBearAlan · 30/06/2016 10:40

Oh do you think so Chalalala? I was starting to wonder whether he might have changed his mind. Keep checking the news for updates.

Hamishandthefoxes · 30/06/2016 10:41

Boris is making a statement at 11.30

PridePrejudiceZombies · 30/06/2016 10:41

NIs first minister is a woman and ballbag. Westminster currently has two male party leaders. If that increases, it will be Westminster catching up to Stormont in that respect.

Felascloak · 30/06/2016 10:42

doin in the questions she was asked about ECHR and said while she was against it that she new her colleagues wouldn't vote for a change in position so she wasn't pursuing any change there. Which I found a relief.
