To listen to people talk, it seems we have turned into a nation of wimpy, whinging apologists.

''I'm so embarrassed''
''I'm so ashamed''
''I'm full of despair''
''I'm so sorry''
''My life is ruined'
''Please accept my apologies''

Stop bloody whinging and saying sorry.

How do you think this tail between the legs cowed talk makes us look to the rest of the world? Hmm
It's about time we all grew up, put on a united front and got on with things
Show everybody what we're really made of.

and breathe

can't help thinking that that it's important that we are at least seen to be together on this
But we aren't together I am not linking arms with a Leaver and walking forward with them. Sorry. If you think that's petty or 'not the Blitz spirit', then I think you simply don't grasp how deeply important this is to some people.

Aerfen · 28/06/2016 22:57

"the only panicking I see being done is mainly by the Remainers"

Ha, ha!
There are few of the waverers, who wanted a Brexit but were scared, you know the ones who said (in a special whiney voice):
"I really don't know which way to vote, I'd like to vote leave, but I think staying in is the safer option..."

LondonKiwiMummy · 28/06/2016 22:57

Together on what? There is no plan, and the whole world thinks we're idiots. And behind who? Boris? Because when he is on TV I have to turn it off, I loathe the sight of him.

This country has been split, the far right enabled and the economy tanked all for some wankery ideological Eu law tosspot argument that until 2 months ago only the red faced spittle flecked far right of the Tory party could get worked up about - so I sure as shit don't have to accept it or put on a brave face.

allegretto · 28/06/2016 22:58

Aerfen - don't be so patronising. I have lots of experience of elections and disappointment with elections seeing as I don't vote Tory. You do realise that this was much more important than a GE? I am astonished at the number of leavers who think we should shut up now. We are up shit creek and not only do we not have a paddle we are supposed to smile and enjoy the ride.

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 22:58

I wish just one of the people who so delightfully demands that we stop bleating and whining could, instead of flinging around pejorative terminology, actually identify what is it we are supposed to pull together on.

SuckingEggs · 28/06/2016 22:58

Tell that to the fuckers who are racially abusing people now, thanks to this bloody referendum. No fucking way should we "just get on with it". This is not the time for biting one's lip and quaffing some earl grey.

babybat · 28/06/2016 22:59

What do you actually expect people to do, OP? You say pull together, but how and to do what? After all, most of us are still going to work, feeding the kids and putting the bins out, we've not all turned into gibbering wrecks. So if we're not MPs or in positions of power, precisely what do you expect? Do you want people to stop talking about it, or get behind a decision they disagree with, or do you expect people to come up with a credible plan for you? Let's have some specifics - what is it you want?

pearlylum · 28/06/2016 23:00

No, I'm not pulling together. My country voted overwhelmingly to remain in Europe and I will do what I can to make sure that happens.

sorenofthejnaii · 28/06/2016 23:00

We don't have to follow a decision because one vote was voted for by 4% more than the other

See - I don't buy that. A decision was made - and in a sense a decision to stay was rejected. If the referendum was ignored, then a decision to stay would be accepted even though it got less than 50%.

It's not like passing a law where 60% is needed. This is a choice that was made.

Aerfen · 28/06/2016 23:01

allegretto
My post wasn't addressed to you but to the many under twenty fives who , so we are told, comprised a larg section of the Bremain voters.

iwantadragon · 28/06/2016 23:01

Okay.
A lot of Remainers are saying 'the countries ruined'. I think that's BS but lets run with that for a moment

Lets liken the ruined country to a dying animal.

A dying animal will always^ go out of it's way to try and hide pain.
It hides it's pain so it doesn't appear WEAK to it's predators.

We don't want to appear WEAK to the other countries in the world.
Constant whinging makes us appear weak.
We need to stop it.

Why is this still being made out to be about winning and losing, it was a referendum not a football match. It was about making a choice not winning a game or even a battle.

SuckingEggs · 28/06/2016 23:02

It's not other countries you need to worry about. It's this one. Imploding.

iwantadragon · 28/06/2016 23:02

country's obs. Smile

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 23:02

I live in hope that in 5-10 years we might look back and think Thank God we did that

But it's not enough to live in hope, is it? Hope won't get people jobs, hope won't make the racist abuse unhappen, hope won't keep taxes down. If the Brexit camp had even once come up with a credible plan or two there might be grounds for hope. Instead they came up with the nonsensical £350 millions for the NHS rubbish.

smallfox1980 · 28/06/2016 23:03

We don't need to do anything.

Those of you on the leave side need to stop dictating what "we" need to do.

I'll exercise all of my democratic rights thanks.

sorenofthejnaii · 28/06/2016 23:03

Constant whinging makes us appear weak

The UK public have very little effect on how the markets see us. They look at the economic outlook and the political signals. They don't read threads on Mumsnet.

smallfox1980 · 28/06/2016 23:03

Seconded.

NataliaOsipova · 28/06/2016 23:04

I don't think it's the wringing that makes us look weak. It's the loss of our AAA credit rating, our crapped out currency, our massive current account deficit and our enormous dependence on an industry (financial services) where our membership of the EU is a key competitive advantage.

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 28/06/2016 23:04

Only we didn't have the facts in order to make the choice. We had lies and fear mongerong from both sides. That is why I thing we need another referendum, not a rematch but the chance to make a choice with unbiased information on which to base it

smallfox1980 · 28/06/2016 23:05

I'm sorry but why is the remain side being accused of fear mongering when basically most of the predictions are coming true?

JudyCoolibar · 28/06/2016 23:06

We don't want to appear WEAK to the other countries in the world.

But, if we leave the EU, we will be weak. Other countries aren't populated by idiots, you know, they will be able to see that for themselves. It is idle to suppose that "little England" (and maybe Wales) will be a strong country.

If we want to appear strong, what actually needs to happen is for the likes of Johnson to have the strength to stand up and admit he joined Brexit out of sheer opportunism, his previous pronouncements on the follies of leaving were absolutely correct, that he and his mates repeatedly lied to the electorate, and accept that Parliament cannot accept the results of the referendum. But he will never have either the courage or the honesty to do that.

SarfEast1cated · 28/06/2016 23:07

OP have you been affected by this vote in anyway? Have you lost your job? Have you seen your pension devalued? Are you worried about the rise in racism in your area?
Can't you understand at all why we are all so f*cked off about it all?

honeysucklejasmine · 28/06/2016 23:08

I like to see a clear, we researched plan first, before I decide to get behind it.

Worra thanks for the giggle, I needed that.

Aerfen · 28/06/2016 23:08

"My country voted overwhelmingly to remain in Europe"

Britain is one nation. I presume you are from the Scottish region?
When you voted to remain part of the UK then you ceded a right to make certain decisions regionally , just as when we joined the EU we ceded certain rights. We want those rights back which is why the majority have voted leave.

Incidentally a large minority in the Scottish region also voted to leave the EU. I do hope if at the next Scottish referendum a large minority vote to remain you will be as eager to have a rerun, as you currently are to rerun the EU referendum?

There are always going to be a large number of people who are unhappy with any result.
