To listen to people talk, it seems we have turned into a nation of wimpy, whinging apologists.

''I'm so embarrassed''
''I'm so ashamed''
''I'm full of despair''
''I'm so sorry''
''My life is ruined'
''Please accept my apologies''

Stop bloody whinging and saying sorry.

How do you think this tail between the legs cowed talk makes us look to the rest of the world? Hmm
It's about time we all grew up, put on a united front and got on with things
Show everybody what we're really made of.

and breathe

Highland I think I did see a semi-suggestion from a Leaver for action on one of the other 3,658 threads Grin. The gist was that if we all worry about the unsettled times and stop spending money, we would bring on a recession. Unfortunately, my instinct in uncertain and troubled times, is to worry and stop spending money - in fact, I think this is quite a sensible thing to do. But I would invite all Leavers and supporting acts (who are doubtless full of boundless optimism for the upcoming Sunlit Pastures of Freedom) to go right ahead and spend spend spend! Think positive guys Wink!

JudyCoolibar · 29/06/2016 18:41

Marynary, OP claims to have voted Remain. Though with every post from her I wonder increasingly whether she has the same attitude to facts as the likes of Johnson and Farage.

That sounds like the reaction when we had the crash in 2008. People were told not to talk things down and to spend or else it would just make things worse. But it's a natural thing to worry when change happens.

BarbarianMum · 29/06/2016 18:47

Personally I'm waiting for the remainers to lay out their carefully thought through plan - you know, just so I know which direction to pull in Wink. Or should I just wave a small Union Jack and shout hurrah?

sorenofthejnaii · 29/06/2016 18:48

Or should I just wave a small Union Jack and shout hurrah

The Proms will be interesting this year. Rule Britannia and all that.

TheElementsSong · 29/06/2016 19:09

I'd imagine the plan of Remainers was to, you know, Remain in the EU Hmm I wasn't aware of any particular steps that would need to be outlined to the populace.

BarbarianMum · 29/06/2016 19:10

Blush I meant leave, sorry.

sorenofthejnaii · 29/06/2016 19:14

'So, Mr.Cameron, the UK have voted to Remain. What's your plan?' Grin

'Um, stay. And ring up Boris'

Of course, if it had been very close to leave, I bet there would have been a lot of comments and a need to acknowledge (and rightly so) the concerns of the Leavers. which is what Boris probably wanted

CaptainBrickbeard · 29/06/2016 19:16

Barbarian, maybe that's the direction we should all be going in, to boil our heads. It seems as productive as anything else suggested so far and would serve as an apt metaphor for what the country is doing to itself Grin.

sorenofthejnaii · 29/06/2016 19:22

Has anyone actually heard from Boris recently?

Has he done any interviews?

topcat2014 · 29/06/2016 19:24

I struggle to care too much what someone living across the street thinks of me, so really don't worry about some random admin people in another country's view is.

I do worry about the citizens who live here and may be suffering totally unacceptable racism, of course, and want that to stop.

As for the eurocrats - less so.

(remainer, as it happens)

TheElementsSong · 29/06/2016 19:31

It's ok! Guys! I give you... The Plan Grin

We need to pull together, grow a pair and GET ON WITH IT!

Grin elements

sorenofthejnaii · 29/06/2016 21:05

I think this is a metaphor for Boris's plan

SuckingEggs · 29/06/2016 22:03

What a goady thread. Naive at best.

ScreamingNotWaving · 29/06/2016 22:16

Dragon, come to my hometown, the racists leavers that expected the buses to turn up Friday morning are handing LAMINATED cards to people telling them 'no more vermin'. That's what makes me ashamed of my country. Children going into school have been handed these cards, it may not be the responsibility of all leavers but those racists have been whipped up into a fervour and believe that 'they won' so they believe they are supported by the majority. So, forgive me, no linking arms here, no pulling together, no twee sentimental cliches.

SuckingEggs · 29/06/2016 22:29

^^ this is why I find all the "come together" bullshit so aggravating. How can anyone dismiss this?!

Be angry, not apathetic.

SarfEast1cated · 29/06/2016 22:37

exactly 'come together' but only if you look the right way - if not you can 'go home'. charming.

smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 22:42

Repeat ad nauseaem, democracy, but when we choose it to be. After that shut up.

SuckingEggs · 29/06/2016 22:43

No.

smallfox1980 · 29/06/2016 22:45

Sorry that was in response to many of the "shut up and get on with it" points on here..

corythatwas · 29/06/2016 23:17

Screaming, don't you know that those laminated cards will disappear in a puff of smoke as long as you don't give them your hysterical attention?

In the same way that the correct way of dealing with the racist march in my home town is to stay at home and make sure nobody disturbs the marchers. Because once they find themselves unchallenged they will simply lose interest in being fascists and go home.

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 23:23

"ersonally I'm waiting for the remainers to lay out their carefully thought through plan "

What you mean our carefully thought out plan to carry on doing exactly the same as we were doing before?
