Should we now challenge parliamentary elections too if we don't like the result on the basis that some people are too lower class/poor/stupid to make a proper first time vote?

Or could that be a tad arrogant and patronising to the the section of the electorate that cast their vote and won, 'ignorant numpties' or not?

There are certainly lots of people who:
a) don't understand topics on MN and
b) can't be arsed to read enough to realise this as been DONE TO FUCKING DEATH.

FFS. Those of us on non-permanent contracts wha had heard that we would no longer be needed in the event of a leave vote, until it was clear whether or not we remain in the common market or not, lost our livelihoods on Friday.

Parliamentary elections are binding, the referendum isn't.

If that's true, what was the point of having a referendum?

Yeah, people who just lost their job, or who know that is coming, or who are fearful about violence restarting in their country in the case of norther Irish residents, are going to be magnanimous and gracious. Jog on.

Had the result gone the other way we would be having the same threads regurgitated again and again but with the protagonists switched.

Read the analysis in the papers, including the Daily Fail (hilarious comments from people who didn't realise what they were voting for ), the stories about Cornwall council now saying, 'But Boris promised us he'd give us the same money as the EU' without acknowledging that he had absolutely no authority or intention of doing so.

Read the stories about racist and xenophobic attacks in the last three days, anonymous cards telling Polish children to go home.

Read the stories about the power vacuum at the top of government and in the opposition.

Then if you can't figure out why people may be angry, scared and frustrated start a thread about it.

Parliamentary elections take place every 5 years. Decisions to leave the EU last forever. It's a slightly bigger deal. Especially when it turns out lots of people who voted to leave did so on the basis of false information.

Your leaders are running scared and backtracking on every single promise (lie) they made, the pound is screwed, the markets are in turmoil, company after company is announcing plans to leave the UK and racist abuse and violence has mushroomed over the weekend.

Until article 50 is invoked there's still time. Join a party, write to your MP and EMP saying you have no confidence that the referendum results represent the will of he people. Sign the petitions.

I don't remember the disabled or tax credit recipients being labeled 'sore losers' when an election result directly impacted their lives and they campaigned against it
