Are there are some very sore losers after the EU Ref result?

Should we now challenge parliamentary elections too if we don't like the result on the basis that some people are too lower class/poor/stupid to make a proper first time vote?

Or could that be a tad arrogant and patronising to the the section of the electorate that cast their vote and won, 'ignorant numpties' or not?

There are certainly lots of people who:
a) don't understand topics on MN and
b) can't be arsed to read enough to realise this as been DONE TO FUCKING DEATH.

HTH!

howtorebuild · 27/06/2016 09:05

I think they are going through the stages of grief. I am inclined to leave them alone. Though it's hard because they are causing social unrest.

BertrandRussell · 27/06/2016 09:06

Oh, ffs, not another one.

This is not a game to tiddlywinks. This is real, important and serious. All this talk of "sore losers" just reinforces my view that some "Leave" voters really didn't know what they were unleashing.

Thanks, Soup, just me being ignorant there.

Ok, BR, why do you think that?

FFS. Those of us on non-permanent contracts wha had heard that we would no longer be needed in the event of a leave vote, until it was clear whether or not we remain in the common market or not, lost our livelihoods on Friday.

You can vote as your fucking well like and I can be as fucked off about it as I like.

BertrandRussell your rude and bullying reply to the op just seems to sum up the arrogance and disdain shown by those who voted Remain the ''ingnorant, racist, xenophobic, bigoted, uninformed blah blah blah'' 17 million of us who voted to leave.

bridgetoc · 27/06/2016 09:13

The remainers are terrible losers and they are behaving like spoilt children. Just leave them be, and let them cry themselves out, safe in the knowledge that us brexiters won a great victory!

brodchengretchen · 27/06/2016 09:14

Parliamentary elections are binding, the referendum isn't.

If that's true, what was the point of having a referendum?

OP posts:
Somerville · 27/06/2016 09:15

Yeah, people who just lost their job, or who know that is coming, or who are fearful about violence restarting in their country in the case of norther Irish residents, are going to be magnanimous and gracious. Jog on.

SoupDragon · 27/06/2016 09:15

Had the result gone the other way we would be having the same threads regurgitated again and again but with the protagonists switched.

pearlylum · 27/06/2016 09:16

We won't leave Europe. Scotland will block it.

sorenofthejnaii · 27/06/2016 09:16

No sore losers. A few people concerned that there's no plan, that the Leave campaign seems to not be entirely sure about the future and some of the things they said, that we have no effective leadership at the moment, that Boris seems to think we can still have access to the Single Market without the costs of that, that Boris and Gove have not been out there and that the Labour party is falling apart.

Brexit won. What's the plan now?

LittleBearPad · 27/06/2016 09:18

Trot off to the numerous other threads about this.

Read the analysis in the papers, including the Daily Fail (hilarious comments from people who didn't realise what they were voting for Hmm), the stories about Cornwall council now saying, 'But Boris promised us he'd give us the same money as the EU' without acknowledging that he had absolutely no authority or intention of doing so.

Read the stories about racist and xenophobic attacks in the last three days, anonymous cards telling Polish children to go home.

Read the stories about the power vacuum at the top of government and in the opposition.

Then if you can't figure out why people may be angry, scared and frustrated start a thread about it.

GraceGrape · 27/06/2016 09:18

Parliamentary elections take place every 5 years. Decisions to leave the EU last forever. It's a slightly bigger deal. Especially when it turns out lots of people who voted to leave did so on the basis of false information.

harrowgreen · 27/06/2016 09:19

A great victory?!

Your leaders are running scared and backtracking on every single promise (lie) they made, the pound is screwed, the markets are in turmoil, company after company is announcing plans to leave the UK and racist abuse and violence has mushroomed over the weekend.

Yeah. Well done you.

HermioneJeanGranger · 27/06/2016 09:20

What victory? Nobody has invoked article 50 yet!

ApocalypseSlough · 27/06/2016 09:20

brodchen
Because they thought the vote would go against and they could shut up the Eurosceptics.

albertcampionscat · 27/06/2016 09:20

Well, I'm sure they'll be reassured by the Brexit camp's well thought out plan.

Oh hold on.

MrsSpecter · 27/06/2016 09:20

Well this is a brand new topic of discussion never before seen on MN Hmm

Oysterbabe · 27/06/2016 09:22

I think maybe we should start this exact topic a further 19,000 times so we can all really consider it. The first 19,000 times just weren't enough.

ApocalypseSlough · 27/06/2016 09:22

Until article 50 is invoked there's still time. Join a party, write to your MP and EMP saying you have no confidence that the referendum results represent the will of he people. Sign the petitions.

sparechange · 27/06/2016 09:22

I don't remember the disabled or tax credit recipients being labeled 'sore losers' when an election result directly impacted their lives and they campaigned against it Hmm
