A million plus more people voted leave than remain but still over 16 million voted in. And many of the people this will affect - the under 18s - didn't get a say.

The majority of our elected representatives want us to remain as does our capital city.

The EU wants us to remain and once the leaders have stopped throwing their toys around they will realise they need to reform the EU and make changes that will keep UK and all the other eurosceptic people in.

Today has been a body blow for us remainers but, we're shot of Cameron, so we can re-group and start the fight to remain in the EU but with changes that much of Europe wants.

I am a remainer. I hope there is negotiation and then another vote. Long shot.

But what you are suggesting doesn't make sense. There was a vote and the government are going to abide by it.

And quite frankly, why does what London voted for mean more than the rest of the U.K.? Would you have been OK with brexit of London had voted for it?

The democratic result of the referendum was to leave the EU by a majority of over 1 million. And that is what is going to happen.

UK is London-centric, they are used to getting their own way so won't accept the exit vote.

All parties need to accept that people can't take any more austerity - we'll have a new chancellor soon who will hopefully take heed.

UK and EU also need to accept that they cannot impose refugees, immigration on their countries.

EU want us to stay so they need to reform.

Much as I hate the result, any attempt to ignore the fact that the majority of voters voted for Brexit would be a disgrace and would provoke uproar and possibly a constitutional crisis. Not likely either that the EU would suddenly cave in and give the UK all that the Brexiteers want not least because there are other countries that would immediately want the same terms

Cameron himself has no intention of invoking Article 50. But he'll stay until October. I presume he wants parliament to 'do something'.

I'm a Remainer. I am mightily disappointed this morning but that's democracy. The result has to stand. Doing vote after vote until you get what you want isn't how it works.

YABU - it's not going to happen I'm afraid, though I wish it would too. The damage was done when Cameron committed to the referendum and took that gamble for the sake of his career. It's over, we need to make the exit work as best we can.

I'm a remainer too. I'm very sad and disappointed today (mainly for the 75% of 18-25 year olds who voted to remain). But as others have said, this is democracy and we have to respect the result. However, I remain convinced that for some who voted out, not all but some, membership of the EU was not really the issue being voted on. David Cameron is gone and their aim is achieved.

I did vote out and I'm very pleased so many others did too. I hope we do leave and government don't try to stop it somehow.

Remain voters may not like it but the majority won and that is how democracy works.

Ghosty....not sure where you are coming from, as we have currently got the highest level of emplyment for 50years, lowest interest rates for over 20 years..etc.

There is nothing in the law that makes the referendum binding - it is merely advisory. This in the legal sense. Morally the government should respect the vote, but they actually don't have to.

They can make the exit last 7 years, they can even override it and decide to have another referendum in a few years. They can decide to table it in parliament and it might just be rejected by MPs - thus not respecting the vote (but of course that is suicide of political parties).

We needed a Ref but not this year .The world is in crisis -migrants, Isis

The vote may or may not be what you wanted however we were asked a question and the voters voted.

There will be complete anarchey if the vote doesn't carry.
