We had a record-breaking 72% of the population take part :)

Our sovereignty will be restored

The first General Election in decades that will truly be about how the country is governed

MPs will be directly held accountable

We can plan a proper strategy for immigration and allocate resources to avoid overloading services

We can have a fair immigration strategy

We can be more versatile and responsive to world economic changes

We can decide how to spend our national resources

House prices are projected to fall meaning more people will be able to first time buy

There will be downward pressure on prices of goods as import terms (we buy more in than we sell out) can be negotiated directly with UK

There will be inward investment as many manufacturers will prefer a UK base rather than their current EU base

What other positives are there?

mrsfuzzy spoken like someone who has never met a payroll! I am sure I would never hire someone with your attitude.
As the owner/manager, I will sit down with my staff next week & discuss our options. The reality is, some of our clients have already lost 40% of their share value. Whether I offend you or not, I and thousands like me will have to take some tough decisions. Wishful thinking doesn't pay the bills.

SquidgeyMidgey · 24/06/2016 11:12

Failing to understand why Brexit means low(er) interest rates, Sterling is already in free fall. If I had a tracker mortgage I would be getting ready to hang onto my hat right about now. However I am Cheerful and Optimistic at the thought I might get some interest on my savings.

HazelBite · 24/06/2016 11:15

Squidgey lucky old you with savings!
The pension fund that we have is only worth half of what it was worth yesterday!
So we work till we die!

RedToothBrush · 24/06/2016 11:15

I can't wait until it hits pensions too.
On top of the pound.
Those poor buggers in Spain. They'll be back soon, clogging up our health service.

SquidgeyMidgey · 24/06/2016 11:15

Oh and Brexiteers who are banking on the likes of my children who are likely the engineers/doctors/go-getters of the future staying to work their behinds off to pay off your cock-up can get stuffed. They will be off to greener pastures and with my blessing.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/06/2016 11:16

Sorry, but I'm not convinced by all the doomsaying about our trade with europe; a period of adjustment's beyond doubt, but successful businesses really aren't run on the basis of spite

There'll be moaning and bitching about "those f**king Brits" of course, but if a company's been provided for years with a suitable product, at a sensible price by a supplier he's come to know and trust, they're not likely to throw that away on a whim

And why assume EU partners will be in any position to trade strongly in future anyway? Given the moribund, almost-zero-growth situation of some, that's not necessarily a safe belief to hold

SquidgeyMidgey · 24/06/2016 11:16

Hazelbite I was being flippant, we don't have a huge amount saved and much like yourself I imagine our pensions are trickling down the drain. Gallows humour.

bobbywash · 24/06/2016 11:29

Hmm customs union anyone, probably an 8% increase on all our exports in to Europe once we negotiate our exit. Interesting that house builders have seen a 40 - 50% drop in their share value. So they are not going to build, if they don't build that's the weather vane for the economy. Recession is coming. We will get over it, but estimates are 9 years or so.
I am not full of hope, but I could have done some campaigning and didn't so it's my fault too.

JemimaBee · 24/06/2016 11:32

So the CEO of my company announced today that as a result of Brexit we may move our headquarter from London to Zurich. He hopes he will be able to move most the staff there thus retaining as many current employees as possible, but at the moment there is not guarantee. #thankyoubrexit #unempleymentcomingsoon

SquidgeyMidgey · 24/06/2016 11:33

Powers that be in the EU have said February's deal to cap immigration, protect the City etc is null and void and that Brexit needs to happen fast regardless of how much it hurts us.

Well done chaps.

MrsJorahMormont · 24/06/2016 11:34

What georgette and judy said.

I could cry thinking about what the OP's kind of ignorance has done for our future and my daughter's future. We'll be ok though, because we have the money and skills to move elsewhere. It's the fucking idiots who voted for this based on poverty and racism who will be stuck with the consequences.

MrsJorahMormont · 24/06/2016 11:38

Powers that be in the EU have said February's deal to cap immigration, protect the City etc is null and void and that Brexit needs to happen fast regardless of how much it hurts us.

Yep Squidgey. Do you think Leave voters really thought we were special British snowflakes and entitled to special treatment? It's really going to be a shock for people to finally realise that we are just this little island floating in the middle of a great big world Sad

Patapouf · 24/06/2016 11:44

Nigel Farage won't have a job anymore (MEP) that's it. Literally nothing good will come of this.

bakeoffcake · 24/06/2016 11:45

Farage has already said the 350 million they promised to put into the NHS every week was a mistake. It won't be happening folks.

I wonder how many Leavers will be surprised! I'm certainly not, and they're will be more backtracking to come.

They won by lying and anyone with an ounce of common sense knew what was going on. I'm really angry that people can be so stupid!

RedToothBrush · 24/06/2016 11:45

I wouldn't mind the vote being leave if people who voted for it, understood what it means.

I shouldn't be here this morning, explaining any of this.

It should have been an informed decision.
Instead, we had politicians who failed us ALL in their MORAL DUTY to do this.

That's what makes me angriest of all.

I hope that people do enjoy the moment now. Genuinely. As its a moment of hope before the bubble bursts - and hope is a truly wonderful amazing thing. I don't wish the dawning reality of the next decade on anyone, as its going to HURT everyone.

Even those who get out, will leave someone behind.

I just see everyone's dreams in tatters. Even those who don't realise it yet.
I can't see where the hope is going to come from right now.

bobbywash · 24/06/2016 11:48

Squidgy, that doesn't really make sense (to me), if they are saying all deals are off and that the uk will not get protection from them for the city, why do we need it if we're not going to enact the laws they pass anyway. Same with immigration we don't have to accept any quota either. I voted remain by the way so interested in that. I do not expect to get an easy ride on exist terms and think we are for years of real pain but threats over the various treaties are crazy.

HazelBite · 24/06/2016 11:50

Leave voters were not thinking!
I am old enough to remember what this country was like as a working adult before we joined.
The benefits (equalities) that employees have now are all down to Brussels.
Funnily enough I worked for a company in the import export dept, before we joined the EU,to have free trade with Europe saved us so much. You have a whole generation who know nothing about "tarifs" these will all have to be re-calculated, its mind boggling.

The awful thing is that its by a majority of 2.8%!!!
Unbelievable

DoinItFine · 24/06/2016 11:52

I'm really looking forward to the external EU land border that is going to come into existence between me and my family.

The shift from a white line on the side of the road to a yellow one, and signs from miles to kilometres, just isn't really dramatic inconvenient enough.

It will also be great for all the superannuated journos hanging around in Belfast to have some decent stories about bombings and shoitings to get their teeth into.

Hurray for this!

101handbags · 24/06/2016 11:52

I'm English born to Scottish parents. I was absolutely anti Scottish independence in the first vote. Now I've changed my mind - I think the Scottish people now deserve another say at independence for Scotland and re-applying to the EU as a separate country if they win. On a selfish note, I want an EU passport back so I'll be applying for a Scottish one... Wink

DoinItFine · 24/06/2016 12:04

No Irish Grannies knocking about, 101?

Lots of Scottidh people do.

RaarSaidTheLion · 24/06/2016 12:05

Well, looks like Nicola Sturgeon isn't keen on the reapplying bit 101handbags...Nicola Sturgeon has just made a statement saying that Scotland should be able to have Indyref2 quick enough that Scotland never has to leave...

DoinItFine · 24/06/2016 12:08

She's dead right.

Why shoukd Scotland lose all the advantageous elements of UK membership over other members just because England and Wales don't want them?

Fuzzywuzzywasabear · 24/06/2016 12:11

There will not be more inward investment by manufacturing?! Manufacturing is about keeping costs down, if it's cheaper to make in Europe that's where they are going to make it simple as.

Your all deluded, senior management are all in a power huddle this morning, meeting Monday to tell the workers whats happening based on brexit suspect redundancy for a lot of us!

Best news I've had all year what with cost of living set to rise

RaarSaidTheLion · 24/06/2016 12:11

Yup Doin, puts Edinburgh in the frame for the financial services sector looking to relocate from London...

KondosSecretJunkRoom · 24/06/2016 12:16

Yes redtoothbrush I agree.

I wouldn't mind the vote being leave if people who voted for it, understood what it means.

I can see that there were good arguments to leave, I had Tony Benn rattling around like an annoying fly in my ear as I voted to remain.

But all of this, "well, if you don't understand what is happening - just go with your gut, what does your gut tell you?"

I imagine most people's guts told them that they were sick of being poor and tired of feeling powerless to do anything about it while the political elite swan around without any care for their well being.

But unfortunately the gut didn't know the referendum had no fucking bearing in that shit because a leave vote will be more of the same delivered on a different plate.

Your gut should chose dinner, not how to fucking vote. For that, you need to read and exercise the brain.
