Ashamed to be a Brit right now. I hope they don't go through with Brexit - just because half the country are uninformed morons doesn't mean they should get their way. Whether you like it or not, the leaders are the leaders because they know what's best for the country. I don't think another recession is best for the country.
75% 18-24 years olds voted remain. 56% 25-49 year olds voted remain. Everyone else has fucked up the future for their own kids and grandkids, and won't be around to see it.

No one knows what the future holds because we've never left the EU before, so how anyone can say it'll be all 'doom & gloom' is being ridiculous.
We have taken control of our Country in a democratic & fair way. I'm positive everything will be fine. Smile

Everything's not fine. Right now, this second it's not fine.

People are losing their jobs, billions is being wiped out.

I'm utterly baffled as to what 'taking control' means.

Me too. And nobody will say. Because they don't know. It's just words.

I think you're find many Brextirers go quiet because they don't wish to engage with the ridiculous fear mongering that was going on.

I don't know what the future will bring but at least it isn't a United States of Europe

It means we decide what's good for our country not Brussels.

Easiest thing in the world to understand.

No it doesn't. It means a government with less of the vote than this win decides what's right for the country. This county always had the right to decide for its self anyway.

Not to me it isn't. Pretend I'm stupid. Give me an example of what you mean.

The pound has tanked. We're all screwed.

And "ordinary", privately-educated City-trading millionaire Nigel Farage, who is currently raking in £80k a year personally, plus a lot more for his "expenses" from the European Union, has now disavowed some of the key Leave pledges.

See here: no extra money for NHS

If we want to trade with the EU, we still have to really abide by their laws. If we don't trade with them, we are fucked. The pound has fallen to almost unprecedented levels. We're not going to "win" anything out of this! Confused

I honestly don't understand how you can feel happy Surfer but I desperately want to and I want to feel okay about it - I don't want to feel sick. Empty "everything is fine!" phrases aren't helpful. Why is it fine?

I think the queen will put her foot down and not let it go through. It's disastrous and she's worked so hard she won't let the country go to shit.

And just what is good for our country?

Also, I'm not sure if you know but, we do make choices for our country. We can vote for our politicians but people can't be bothered to engage in party politics.

I certainly don't want that fuckwit Farage in charge of deciding what's good for the country.

I have a son with special needs. There was a lot of scaremongering as to what would happen to us after the general election.

What has happened?

Nothing. Not a sausage. Nothing has changed.

Except maybe it's a bit harder to get the right educational provision. But that's nothing new.

Scaremongering has become the tactic of elections. Divide and conquer. However all it has done this time is deepen some of the divisions. Which is why I see no point in engaging in more divisiveness now.

The simple fact is Referendum was not lost yesterday. It was list when reform from within the EU wasn't agreed months ago.

Build a global trade position? We are not a manufacturing/trading nation anymore, really. We are mostly a service nation and our financial services are starting to tank. (Joins slow handclap). We are in for a very bumpy ride, and don't doubt that it will be the 'ordinary people' who will bear the brunt of it. Messrs Johnson, Gove, Farage et al will be OK though so don't worry about them.

Toffeelatte I am really, really glad that your life and your DS's life haven't been made worse by some of the things that came in after the last election, but sadly, that isn't true for a lot of other people.

(adding detail to my reply to Toffelatte) I volunteer a bit at a disability rights organisation, and the distress and desperation I see in people who have had to fight and fight just to hang on to the small benefits and concessions they are currently "allowed", it's just heartbreaking.

People don't vote what will be best for other people. They vote what they believe will be best for themselves or best for their country in the long run. The wringing of hands and demanding of solidarity seems incredible given it was never shown in reverse (why we do have the government we do).

Stockmarket down 7%, £ down to 80's levels. PM has resigned, so we'll probably end up with BoJo as PM. Joy.

I'm doing a masters soon; I wonder if there's any point now. We are screwed.
