I just think about how the many, many people who live here who don't get a vote but have roots here and consider Britain as home...what must they think of the decision of the British people.

Overt racism from people I used to count as friends, alarms me!!! I love our diverse country and the way in which the young generations accept this as Britain. It really does enrich our young people's lives.

Now we have to back track and much of he progress we have made has gone! Absolutely ridiculous!

Why the fuck would you vote with your heart on such a matter? It's not fucking X factor. I realise there was a lot of propaganda to sift through from both sides which is why I allowed other, better informed, better educated people to do it for me.

And how. Please please somebody tell me how this will make anybody's life better? Not one leave person I have spoken to has been able to give me an answer.

And who do we have to see us through these years of turbulence and negotiations? I can't name one politician who I'd feel confident with let alone anyone from the leave camp.

I agree - I bet they didn't expect to win, which is why they're backtracking on everything. And people are frantically trying to get them to hold to promises they couldn't keep. This petition's just turned up in my inbox...

A victory for ordinary people!

Never mind precisely implemented, you must have a vague notion of what changes could happen? Its one reason you voted, don't you understand even the basics of the changes you want?

Can I just ask those of you who voted to leave, did you examine the policies & attitudes of those leading that campaign, they have all made clear ( in the past) their belief that the NHS needs to be privatised (or what is left of it ), red tape cut for business aka protection for workers rights, health & safety, & the end of the welfare state. What kind of country do you want to live in is this it? Is this the victory for ordinary people you wanted to see? I could go on about the short& long term consequences for British industry ,our universities and our financial services sector.

But now they've admitted to lying, or did you miss that bit.

There is NO PLAN, they didn't think they were going to win.

Who specifically are you trusting?

MitzyLeFrouf you know I like & respect you as a poster, I don't take much notice of many people on here but I do notice ( & like) most of your posts. I know we're on different sides here, but I hope, when all this finally does down, we'll carry on as before.

yes surfer, it's called a representative democracy - and the vast vast majority of our representatives did not want a referendum.

Report
MitzyLeFrouf · 25/06/2016 13:42

Well yes it does matter when you implicitly trust a politician to deliver on their promise without first checking it this promise holds any weight whatsoever or is merely intended as a seductive soundbite.

Surferjet · 25/06/2016 13:39

Sorry, didn't mean to be so flippant.

when you vote. you hand your concerns ( & hopes ) over to politicians who you feel have your best interests at heart.
One of those concerns was immigration & I'd like to see more control yes - how that control will be precisely implemented I don't know? but does it matter? I'm not the one who'll be running the country they are. & I trust them.

Well, that at least explains why surfer jet refused to answer my "Give me one tangible thing that would be better for people after Brexit" question.

No I don't know, but I'm confident someone, somewhere, does

And this is how people voted OUT. "I know nothing, but I like the idea of it, some one somwhere will know the details!"

Christ, you're a;; fucked.

Report
PanEuropeanPan · 25/06/2016 13:13

So what is it that gives you that confidence? Glad you've thought it through really well.

IT sounds like the confidence that dresses up a lack of knowledge, and expires on contact with air.

Are you going to answer the question out to you by a pp 'HOW will you have more control over it? You really don't know, do you? It's just a soundbite.'?

Likewise MitzyLeFrouf - I've got some 'remain' friends who now, after seeing that the world is still actually turning, are actually quite happy we voted out ( they just didn't have the balls to vote out themselves )
But of course, you only hear from the very vocal social media types at times like this, ( people who like the sound of their own voice quite frankly ) the rest of the country just quietly get on with it keeping their opinions to themselves.

Well it's simple - the U.K. will be such a poor train-wreck of a society that immigrants just won't want to come here. Done! Grin

Seriously - no one knows how to reduce immigration or is seriously planning to do so.

On the contrary, when the shit hits the fan and a bunch of educated workers leave the country, as well as the poor ones who used to do all the shit work, we'll be on our knees wanting more people back in.

Just5minswithDacre · 25/06/2016 12:47

HOW will you have more control over it? You really don't know, do you? It's just a soundbite.

If it's just a soundbite, why are so many people freaking out about the apparent end of freedom of movement?
