Remainders = remainers!!!

Chalalala · 22/06/2016 14:17

that's good to hear Mistigri, fingers crossed for a high turnout

squoosh · 22/06/2016 14:21

The Electoral Commission have said that 2 million people have registered to vote since last December. 1.5m since May alone.

OrangesandLemonsNow · 22/06/2016 14:27

There were over 6m applications and approx 2m eligible.

WaspsandBeesSting · 22/06/2016 14:30

The problem is 'intention to vote' isn't the actually same as doing so.

This is to some extent as to why compulsory voting I guess is often muted.

squoosh · 22/06/2016 14:37

There was an 85% turn out for the Scottish ref. It would be amazing to reach something even in that ballpark.

RedToothBrush · 22/06/2016 14:44

The spread betting on turnout suggests around the 68% mark.

Over 80% turn out is currently around 9/1
75-80% is between 7/2 and 4/1
70-75% is around 2/1

Anything above / below 68% is worth looking out for.

I am not convinced we will get close to 85% like the Scottish Ref. It will be interesting to see.

I would like it to be so the result is representative but I don't think it will be.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/06/2016 14:55

I think leave will clinch it, just. The idea doesn't make me at all happy and I hope I'm wrong.

RedToothBrush · 22/06/2016 14:55

The higher the better as far as I am concerned - for selfish reasons and for the interests of the country.

Though I can also see a high turnout attracting tin foil theories too.

Then again, I think there will be tin foil hats out in force whatever happens since there are just so many disillusioned individuals out there.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/06/2016 14:56

Can I ask, what is the "take your own pen" thing about?

squoosh · 22/06/2016 14:56

The tin foil theories are already in full flow. There'll be no stemming them!

squoosh · 22/06/2016 14:57

Take your own pen instead of using the polling booth pencil provided as they can easily be erased by MI5.......................

squoosh · 22/06/2016 14:59

You can imagine the shadowy MI5 figures sitting around a table industriously erasing all the Xs thinking 'this isn't exactly like Spooks is it?'.

Chalalala · 22/06/2016 14:59

it's starting to resemble more the madness that is US politics every day.

OddBoots · 22/06/2016 15:00

In an ironically British way I suspect the weather tomorrow will have a role to play.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/06/2016 15:03

Grin squoosh

That has tickled me no end.

squoosh · 22/06/2016 15:11

Bacofoil Bonanza!

Mistigri · 22/06/2016 15:19

It's a bit bloody rich that people who are so proud of Britain and beinv a British don't trust their country to run a fair vote. That sort of tin-foil-capped fuckwittery really pisses me off.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/06/2016 15:20

Wonder if any remainers are also taking their own pen? Wink

squoosh · 22/06/2016 15:21

Oh I'm sure there a few tinfoil hats among the Remain side too!

RedToothBrush · 22/06/2016 15:34

Ali. I might. Just because I can.

and then the Leavers can't change my vote either. well I might as well join in

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/06/2016 15:35

I have found myself considering it. This is what the referendum has done Blush

flippinada · 22/06/2016 15:40

On a lighter note, does anyone else appreciate just how much John Curtice looks like the stereotypical mad professor?

whatukthinks.org/eu/

I find it oddly comforting :)
