Buttermuffin
Please don't patronise me I read all the papers and posted stuff from most of them if you look.
I view news media ,listen to the radio and I do not like what I see or hear,it does not fill me full of confidence for my children's security or happiness.
I have read extensively on the EU and am completely happy regards my decision to vote to Leave,it's the best chance for me and my family.
Good grief it sounds like you wished the Mums on here lived with their heads in a cave!

And Scotland rejoins the EU and we have a second land border with the EU.

butteredmuffin · 11/04/2016 16:16

Not to mention Northern Ireland - which no one is mentioning, for some reason. I can see them breaking away to rejoin the republic.

lurked101 · 11/04/2016 16:17

Well for one there is more up to date information than the link you have provided.

From the website of The Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT)
www.smmt.co.uk/2016/03/101076/:

Some highlights:

77% of members of SMMT – the voice of the UK motor industry – say remaining in Europe is best for their business, according to 2016 survey by independent pollster ComRes.

Overwhelming support for EU membership across the board, with 88% of large SMMT member companies and 73% of SME members in favour of remaining.

Majority of firms say Brexit would have a negative impact on their business.
Industry leaders from across the sector back the UK in Europe at press event in London.

I didn't say they'd leave I said they backed staying in the EU.

I'm no scaremonger, I put the opposing point to yours about trade continuing as it is now and the UK flourishing outside of the EU.

I'm pro EU because I think the UK benefits from it more than it costs.

Daisyonthegreen · 11/04/2016 16:17

Lavender doilly
Don't fall for that.
The Scots know which side their bread is buttered and it's the Scots Nats unrealistic politicians sabre rattling not the down on the ground Scots who want to break away from us I can assure you.

Daisyonthegreen · 11/04/2016 16:19

Butter muffin
It's not all about money though is it
Do you really think car manufacturers are going to upsticks,no
You truly are scaremongering because you have nothing else.
It's typical of the Remain camp.

OP posts:
butteredmuffin · 11/04/2016 16:22

Daisy, raising legitimate concerns is not scaremongering. Pretending that there will be no negative economic consequences if we leave is both disingenuous and irresponsible. I would have more respect for someone who said, "I understand the risks, but I think it's a price worth paying."

lavenderdoilly · 11/04/2016 16:22

Leaving aside the Trumpish nature of your response (The Scots? !!), it was 45 percent in favour of leaving in last referendum and much of the discussion was around borders and currency. I think that Scottish electorate will make up their own minds and there's not a damned thing I could do about it.

butteredmuffin · 11/04/2016 16:25

Quite a few of the 55% voted no because they knew an independent Scotland would have to apply to rejoin the EU. Those people would vote yes in a second referendum after Brexit.

lavenderdoilly · 11/04/2016 16:25

I don't think NI would vote to merge with the Republic but there would be a greater and wholly reasonable call for more tax raising powers in Wales and NI if the EU money dries up. Or inward investment from Westminster.

butteredmuffin · 11/04/2016 16:27

But where is the money going to come from if the economy is in the toilet...?

God, I'm worried.

lurked101 · 11/04/2016 16:30

Daisy,

That's a pretty poor argument. Accusing someone of being a scaremonger because they warn of risks to a course of action isn't a great retort.

The car industry are backing a remain vote, so the EU has benefits for them that would be put at risk by the uncertainty of a brexit vote. The same goes for the CBI, these are businesses, they aren't doing it out of anything else other than that it benefits them. Some businesses are pro brexit yes, but there seems to be a huge amount of business support for the EU.

lavenderdoilly · 11/04/2016 16:32

Sorry, buttered.

butteredmuffin · 11/04/2016 16:35

What for, lavender?

lavenderdoilly · 11/04/2016 16:40

Hi buttered, for reminding you of further demands on national revenue caused by Brexit.
Daisy, I've had a careful look at the arguments, can see both sides but I don't think it is a risk worth taking. And I don't want us to have to build and police a land border with Scotland.

butteredmuffin · 11/04/2016 16:43

Ha, it's ok, lavender. What I really ought to do is stay off these threads and revise for my exams instead!

Daisyonthegreen · 11/04/2016 17:03

We all have a view.
I have met many Scots,I have never ever been told they are not to be called Scots.
Desperation stalks the posts again.

Is it bully Daisy day? Someone forgot to CC me on the email.

Are we still #TeamLurked or has he come clean now so we can change to #TeamLola?

Why all the cloak and dagger Lola?

HelpfulChap · 11/04/2016 17:06

What's wrong with 'The Scots'?

Don't tell me it isn't PC! Another TeamLurked email I missed.

lavenderdoilly · 11/04/2016 17:09

Spend a bit of time listening to Donald Trump and his "the Blacks" "women" "the Mexicans" "I know a lot of Muslims". Let's say, it doesn't add weight to his analysis. I have Scottish in laws and relatives with ... Shock! Horror! ... a range of views to which they too are entitled. The fact remains that I won't get a say in Scottish Independence which is more likely, in my view, if we leave the EU.

lurked101 · 11/04/2016 17:10

The Scottish question would be very interesting, if Scotland votes to remain and the English vote goes the other way we would have a genuine constitutional crisis. Whilst at the moment the Scots seem to be better off within the UK because of the oil price this situation will not stay forever.

Daisy you haven't yet put a counter argument, you just make assertions about others posts.

What impact do you think the uncertainty of the union would have on the UK economy ?

HelpfulChap · 11/04/2016 17:13

I can agree with that Lavender, a Brexit vote does make Scottish independence more likely. I imagine the 45% will vote Leave if they are playing the long game.

lavenderdoilly · 11/04/2016 17:18

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I'm totally reassured now that "The Scots" will vote to leave the EU too and there won't be another referendum in Scotland to leave the UK. What was I thinking?

HelpfulChap · 11/04/2016 17:18

Why is she getting the third degree Lola?

She can have her own opinions without having to explain every one. Or are you just trying to find pick her up on everything to you can attack her with it?

I think it has been established that nobody knows for sure what is going to be the full consequence of Brexit.

Daisyonthegreen · 11/04/2016 17:18

Just before I dish the dinner up for the children I will post this positive post.
forbritain.org/cogchapter27.pdf
It outlines the benefits of Leave in a certain area.
