A poster asked about this,I think the link may be helpful.

Sometimes commonsense has to come into play.
If we are foolish enough to to vote Remain we put ourselves in an invidious position.
The EU will in its "wisdom" take the view that we assent to their domination, that we are cowed.Ergo we will inevitably be bulldozed into an open borders policy and let's face it on the strength of past performances of our Politicos who hardly "fight our corner" no doubt this would happen.
Ergo anyone with said common sense will vote Leave.

A lot of people say they are going by their gut and so I am.
Sadly I feel that is exactly what would happen, maybe I'm right maybe I'm wrong but it's too much of a gamble.
The EU is already gearing up re telling us what to do re asylum seekers (see post earlier in the day)
Plus it's not the only reason obviously,I cite many reasons on other posts.

Daisy
there is no "strong arming" suggested! There is no evidence to support your claim. Leaving the EU will not solve the migration issue it will make it worse. Working together we can solve this seperatly, in your model, we will be in competition and vulnerable to the effects of an EU in which we are not a member.

StepintotheLightleave · 06/04/2016 19:23

Would the EU "strong arm us" into anything?

You need to look at precedent. Does it have Precedence for doing so in the past, if the answer is YES, then there is NOTHING to say it wont happen again.

ParadisePalms · 06/04/2016 19:36

I do wonder why all other EU countries, except France want the UK to remain. There is rising Eurosceptisism in Europe right now. The Germans and French want their own referendum, Holland may follow suit. If UK votes to leave I predict others will too and the EU superpower as we know it is unlikely to survive.
The fact is we don't know what exactly will happen if we leave, just like the Scots had to vote blindly in their referendum. Once again cameron is refusing to discuss the possible outcomes. There will obviously be a lengthy period of finiancial difficulty, it's a leap of faith, a gamble, and one I am willing to take. I don't much care for the short term repercussions, I'm thinking of the next generation.

Drinkstoomuchcoffee · 06/04/2016 19:51

Step - can you give some specific examples of "the EU" "strong arming" the UK into something? Which legislation are you referring to?

Daisyonthegreen · 06/04/2016 19:53

Interesting, lots of info from Economists for Britaib who have no qualms about leaving the EU.

Do you live under rocks?
The EU is a notorious bully and you both know it.

OP posts:
Drinkstoomuchcoffee · 06/04/2016 20:00

Please quote some specific examples.

engineersthumb · 06/04/2016 20:03

Again those supporting the leave campaign fail to show a single detailed example when challenged todo so! Please as breath and base your vote on fact and experience instead of trying to pin every ill content and fear on the EU. To be isolated little islanders is to become irrelevant. Worse no border can keep the world's problems at bay, the only defense is to work as a team to resolve them.

Your hatred of your own (I assume own) country is sad.
Are you related to Emma Thompson by any chance?

all other EU countries, except France want the UK to remain

depends what you mean by "countries", the French government definitely wants the UK to remain. French people less so, but in my experience that's more because they feel rejected by Britain not wanting to be in their club :-p

From a French perspective the perception is that Britain has always been amazing at getting special deals and special exemptions from the EU. That's why people can't understand what bee the Brits have in their bonnet.

Drinkstoomuchcoffee · 06/04/2016 20:20

....er some random blog from a bloke with four followers? Hmm

engineersthumb · 06/04/2016 20:20

I am committed to my country. I fought for it and in civilian life have keenly supported it. Your assertion is a personal attack due to you not being able to provide any detailed argument as typifies the leave campaign.

Daisyonthegreen · 06/04/2016 20:30

Why do you continuously use the derogatory term little Englanders.
That is not the language of a person who proclaims to have defended anything.

engineersthumb You think that 27 countries would not vote Schengen for the UK? That is how it could easily happen ...... do you not have any foresight at all?
