Britain can enjoy the good life after Brexit (Telegraph, 10 Feb)

"up to five million EU jobs depend on access to the UK market, with an annual UK deficit in goods with the EU larger than some economies - a staggering £56billion. The UK is the EU's single largest trading partner and fifth largest world economy."

"Indeed, only a third of EU trade is covered by any Free Trade Agreement now. Six out of ten of the EU's largest trade partners have no such agreement, including China which exports €279bn of goods to the EU annually. There is still no single market in services after 24 years - despite representing seventy per cent of the EU's GDP."

RockUnit · 20/03/2016 22:12

More from the article above...

" My plan for the UK outside of the EU combines a guaranteed basic trade deal based on current World Trade Organisation arrangements with a better free trade deal on top.

The basic deal is guaranteed whatever happens, as the UK and EU are both World Trade Organisation members in their own right and must follow its rules or be hauled into an international court."

engineersthumb · 20/03/2016 22:19

Andy,
More random references to "Red Tape" doesn't change the fact that the common regulation in place in the EU will still apply to all exporters after an exit. EU regulation supported my industry and has removed the problematic web of national regulations that previously existed. Finantial services should be more centrally regulated... perhaps then we wouldn't be seeing the number scandals reported of late and who knows maybe the 08 crash wouldn't have had the impact it did.

Of course there are facts in the article. And the writer is a Telegraph journalist who has clearly done his research. His good suggestions are just one of many ways that the UK could work very well after a Brexit. We just don't need the EU and should take this rare opportunity to leave while we can.

What an indictment of the state of the EU.This EU experiment is a busted flush,it is in our best interests to vote leave on June 23rd in the EU Referendum.

My Hovercraft..... are wilfully ignoring facts indeed one of the posters resorting to bad language in place of valid debate.
The post below is full of facts.
So also is the Voteleavetakecontrol.org link I shall post below in another post.
The fact is the In campaign has become desperate, scaremongering and abusive because they have no real arguments. The EU as a set up is not fit for purpose.
Vote leave is the only valid choice now.

When on link there is a Briefing room on the top bar,you can then select things of interest ie trade immigration etcetera to read up on.
There also is a downloadable PDF.Well worth reading the many facts therein.

sorry Anna, different poster

I don't think I'm wilfully misinterpreting, I think I'm highlighting the flip side of the argument. Brexit advocates are always incredibly careful to portray their immigration stance positively, in terms of the immigration they do want.

I'm just pointing out what's left unsaid, ie there is a kind of immigration they do not want. Which is the immigration currently happening.

RockUnit · 21/03/2016 09:32

Chalalala you're assuming that everyone who's in favour of Brexit has the same reasons for it. Someone's main reason might be sovereignty and democracy. Someone else's may be immigration.

AnnaForbes · 21/03/2016 17:53

that incredibly biased body, the CBI Yes, they are. They are partly funded by the EU so of course they are biased. Also, the CBI has been wrong about most things in recent years; remember how they wanted us to join the Euro for a stronger, more stable economy? I would read what the CBI recommend and do the exact opposite.

Chalalala, you are right, there is a kind of immigration that is largely unwanted. The Cologne threads give a very good indication of people's feelings regarding huge numbers of men from MENA cultures coming here. I dont think it is left unsaid; people have thankfully realised it isnt racist to express concerns.

Daisyonthegreen · 21/03/2016 18:05

Anna Forbes
Exactly.
Plus I have compiled over 24 cases of rape, sadly murder and sexual molestation since this mass migration
This is hideous,I wonder where the usually outspoken feminists/ celebrity feminists are on this....extremely silent I must say.
It certainly is not racist to raise concerns of other cultures attitude to females as you point out Anna.
We cannot even rely on police / authorities for example look what happened in Rotherham.
Plus the German / Swedish cases initially cases of assault only came to light on social media, the authorities tried to sweep it under the carpet.
That no doubt would happen here.
Every female in this country should vote Leave on this issue alone in my view.

Every female in this country should vote Leave on this issue alone in my view. Daisy, I agree but I have fallen out with several friends on this one who, despite considering themselves feminists, refuse to discuss the elephant in the room iw MENA men's attitudes to women.

Article by Janice Atkinson MEP www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/eureferendum/12086614/Heres-why-women-should-vote-to-leave-the-European-Union.html

Article in International Business Times by Suzanne Evans www.ibtimes.co.uk/why-women-should-vote-leave-eu-1548553

Chalalala · 21/03/2016 18:45

RockUnit in the context of the thread I was responding to someone who was concerned about immigration.

I know there are some Brexit advocates concerned about other issues, but I would argue that immigration is the topic that resonates most with the public. If Brexit wins, it will be over this issue, in my opinion.

Anna what does MENA stand for?

Chalalala · 21/03/2016 18:51

Oh, Middle Eastern and North African, I guess.

I'm not sure why you seem to think leaving the EU would solve the issue? a) these people are not EU b) the UK already has border controls c) the UK has a land border with the EU d) the French seem keen to pass on the Calais problem to post-Brexit UK

Daisyonthegreen · 21/03/2016 20:28

Anna
I simply cannot understand the mentality of so called feminists who " turn a blind eye" to this.
It is unutterably irresponsible of them.
Thank you for the posts I shall read them.

These people have been invited by a misguided Mrs Merkle.
It is inevitable that they are here to stay and will be given passports.
It has everything to do with the EU in that the leaders wantonly ignore the best interests of their own people.
Women in this country should vote Leave for the sake of themselves and female relatives.

Limer · 21/03/2016 21:36

I simply cannot understand how Brexiters can't understand that these aren't EU citizens, so this is an issue completely unrelated to the Eu...

Germany has flung open their doors to anyone who can get there. A million have arrived and far more are on the way. They'll all be fast-tracked for German citizenship, so will be arriving in the UK in a couple of years clutching their shiny new EU passports.

Thanks Daisy. Great site. The sooner we take back our own sovereignty and control our own borders, the better.

engineersthumb · 21/03/2016 22:37

Daisy,
I find it very strange that you accuse me of ignoring the facts. I speak from personal experience in industry and b ussiness. The fact that I don't quote reams of stories from the daily mail or other tabloid press doesn't mean that I am not informed. Most of the people campaining for exit appear to have no experience of either and are governed by the gutter press
