Why do Jewish schools need protection?

Rishi Sunak has just promised 3 million pounds to protect Jewish schools in the U.K. I find it horrifying that there is a need to do so. What sort of vile creature would target Jewish children?

Have you not seen all the footage of people in Britain celebrating the murder of Jews?

No, I've seen people supporting Palestine. Show me where they were celebrating Jewish deaths.

The Palestine rally looks like every other Palestine rally that goes on throughout the year when the IDF kill another child and people go out and protest.

Louloulouenna · 12/10/2023 20:02

@JustAMinutePleass is that 4,000 attacks on Muslims in Britain? If so how many were by Jews?

There are well over 3m Muslims in a Britain and around 300,000 Jews.

Louloulouenna · 12/10/2023 20:03

@BetterCallBarry there has been extensive coverage of this.

Pretty obvious, supporters of the terrorist organisation, Hamas. Tomorrow the ex leader of Hamas called for an international day of Jihad. No Jewish child will feel safe tomorrow.

Show me, because I also live in a Muslim community and apart from people saying have you seen the news everyone has got on with their life, going to work, school, shopping.

As I said, the posts are removed. I’ve reported three this week, and others report them too. There have been a couple condemning and responding to the posts on there, and it just turns into a bun fight before they’re taken down. That’s not what the site is for, but people like to use it as a forum to post other controversial stuff. And whilst you say you’ve not heard anything yourself, of course others will be low key with their comments in a face to face environment, but on social media people often feel ‘brave enough’ to voice their feelings. Btw, it’s not only Muslims on the site, but other none Muslim people too making awful comments.

Have you seen the people in London dancing in the street celebrating the rape and murder of Jewish women and children? Surprised you need to ask why they need security.

And they set off fireworks once the Hamas murders, rapes and hostage taking was announced on the news.

But the Palestinians that do live in Israel are treated like 2nd class citizens, they also have a right to their own country. And if you think that Israel is a democracy then that means that people voted for what the Israeli government do to the Palestinians.

The best time they lived peacefully was before they split the country up and it was in Palestinian hands.

kirinm · 12/10/2023 20:07

Has there ever been any sort of attack at a Jewish school?

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 12/10/2023 20:08

As a poster has pointed out above there is already government funding for security for all places of worship, with a separate fund for Muslim schools and mosques, and another for Jewish schools and synagogues. The fact that it is necessary to have millions of pounds worth of security measures to protect children is deeply fucking sad. For what it’s worth, of the religious hate crimes that were reported last year apparently “42% were against Muslims, while 23 percent targeted Jews”
I would also add that the kind of shitmunching swastika painting bastards who target Jewish communities are just as likely to target Mosques.

Condo · 12/10/2023 20:09

@BetterCallBarry there have been plenty of coverage of this - not to mention the footage of a young woman asking a Jewish man if his people were dead and saying good repeatedly. There was footage on Saturday night (before any retaliatory attacks began) of the celebrations in multiple cities on our streets of people celebrating the atrocities against Israeli women and children. I personally would like to see as a minimum those people charged with hate crimes and if I ran the country would deport them back to a despotic regime of their choice as in my view they do not belong to live here in a western democracy if those are the views they hold.

Why were they setting off fireworks in London a few minutes after the murder, rape and hostage taking of Jews was announced? It is sickening. A friend of mine was in her local small shop and they were handing out sweets in celebration. These are British born people too, not immigrants from other countries.

Echobelly · 12/10/2023 20:17

@PurpleChrayne (great name btw) - I'm in London.

I'm not especially worried about far right wing as I think the numbers of people feeling that murderous against Jews is ultimately still very small, and the chances of a successful attack are small.

While I am worried about extremist Islamist terrorists, I still wouldn't say I'm scared exactly. Have I considered what I'd do if I was sitting in synagogue and heard gunshots? Yes. Do I consider it likely, not all that much. From a purely selfish point of view, our synagogue/the kids former school is a hard target set quite far off the road - it would be pretty impossible to drive a vehicle into it or attack at close quarters without any warning, the most dangerous attack might involve guns but they are hard to get in this country.

But it's not good I have had to think about this stuff.

Well, I think we all know the answer to that, don't we....

Sadly, it's not very politically correct to say so.

Trouble is we seem to have a lot of people who hold those views living in the UK and they probably don't like Western civilisation either

@greengreengrass25 i am a firm believer in respecting the countries values where you live - I’ve lived in the Middle East and I certainly would have been incarcerated or worse if I’d have driven a car down a road with an Israeli state flag from my car.

greengreengrass25 · 12/10/2023 20:55

Yes I know

Unfortunately I think the UK is quite vulnerable due to the tolerance of intolerance in our society

lemmein · 12/10/2023 20:56

Faith schools shouldn't even be a thing - stop segregating children based on their parents beliefs.

BetterCallBarry · 12/10/2023 17:59

There are also classic white Nazis still about.
It was in the newspaper that in a church hall what they thought was a wedding was actually a annual nazi rally...

We live in worrying times

ChesapeakeBay · 12/10/2023 21:02

There is call for a widespread uprising against Jews tomorrow. A new Kristallnacht

Where? I've seen calls for a day of jihad but nothing about Jewish people. Yes the attacks in Israel and the response is the context but there's been no mention of targeting Jews. Mashaal's speech was all about extremist islam.

It seems that some people don't like the truth
