Help please!! Foul play, teacher marking work fraudulently

I would like some advice on what I should do. My DD is in Y5, they have finished their end of year tests for Maths and English. The teacher had lost a few of the children's test answer papers, so he has given one of the children the opportunity to do the test again. However, my DD has observed the teacher providing the child who had to do the test again with the answers. Now unsurprisingly, this child has scored 140 out of 140, this child also happens to be the 'teacher's pet'. Where do I go with this information?

Behave.

I know some of the responses might not be what you were looking for. Yes IF true and you're really annoyed, speak to the teacher who will of course say that isn't the case. Maybe an angle could be that are the other children going to be given an opportunity to resit....but honestly....don't worry. Nothing amazing will come of this and feel cross l, but as you've asked for opinions, the consensus is just don't stress yourself. Your DD will be fine, and if she is just as cross, tell her it probably didn't happen like that.

Ok, gang. We can put our heads together on this and deal with this evil, corrupt teacher and his vile reign of favouritism.
Tell us, OP - do some children ger more praise than others? More treats at the end of term? 🕵

And is it always the naughty ones?

TM80 · 01/07/2023 12:38

My DD had asked some of her friends outside of the school if they have had end of year tests, and they did and were the same papers!

@Jifmicroliquid, surely the cheating and tampering that you are talking about, shouldn't be allowed

That's unforgivable. The teacher's wife must LTB immediately.

Mais oui!

Oops getting ahead of self.

“Fraudulent” marking of year 5 tests? 😂😂😂

An end of year 5 test is just a mock. We have some year 10s who will do some end of year exams a week later than everyone else due to a trip. Might they find out the questions from someone else? Of course. Does it matter? Not really. End of year exams and tests are just practice. They don’t really matter, they are just a way of getting kids used to being tested. It is not like a GCSE or SATS paper.

TM80 · 01/07/2023 12:39

No extra treats, but they are picked for everything, not 'told off', etc

Maireas · 01/07/2023 12:40

@TM80 - your daughter has ascertained from other yr5 pupils that this is a standarised test?

MerelySnark · 01/07/2023 12:40

If the teacher marked the paper, why did they need to give the student the answers? They could just have marked all the questions correct whatever the student wrote. Or, if the answers were written in pencil the teacher could change them.

I agree with the above comments that it didn’t happen like this.

TM80 · 01/07/2023 12:41

Well, she has asked a few other children from other schools and they have all had the same comprehension test, etc

Aha. The plot thickens. Is one of these favourites the same "star" Maths pupil?

Said the tearful teacher to the 4 year old boys and girls.

I'm sorry!

I don't think you actually know any Y5 kids.

So your daughter has checked the testing in other schools and found this to be a programme of standarised testing, both in Maths and English?

Perhaps there’s something in the student’s background which explains this, eg SEN, difficult life experiences? There’s no reason why the rest of the class should know about this.

TM80 · 01/07/2023 12:43

I don't know the Y5 kids, but she does from the clubs that she attends.

No that was me. I still didn't get a real pen.

DragonCatcher · 01/07/2023 12:43

In the UK there is no standard year 5 test I'm afraid to tell you.

Social services, police and the government. Just to be on the safe side.

😂

OP, chill. It doesn't matter. Forget it.

TrundleWheel76 · 01/07/2023 12:44

You need to encourage your daughter to focus on other things. And stop egging her on.

Should it happen? Probably not. Does it happen? Absolutely.
It comes as quite a shock to parents to realise that most of the tests and ‘important’ stuff at school are completely meaningless. It just fills data in on a spreadsheet that no-on will look at again. The only important things are external exams such as GCSEs and Alevels.

I know the score of the other child, as the teacher had announced it to the class and made a point that the child achieved the top grade.
Whilst this is only Y5, but this is the standard end of year test that children in all schools complete.

Standard end of year tests that all Y5 children do?! There is no such thing!!!

I am a supply teacher and visit many school, I can assure you this is not something that exists, as all schools use different schemes and assessment systems.

How a child performs in a primary school test doesn't make a single bit of difference to anyone!

It sounds very strange that you are so bothered by this and also that your child is also so hung up on it to be asking other children about their end of year tests... which are unlikely to be the same, despite what they say!
