Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

Asked my DS and he said the only groups he knew of were A and J. Each having several subsections ie J1, 2, 5, 7 and a couple of others.

May I ask what these groups are? Were they 11+ groups? My DS sat 10+ and I don't recall any group information.

I honestly don't know. Is KGS considered much more selective? We only went to the Headmaster's talk at KGS as couldn't make the open day and really appreciated his candid approach to the exam process. Whitgift we managed to take time off work to attend the open day and it was undoubtedly impressive.

It was mentioned on the candidate sheet which we were emailed ahead of the exam.

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I think we should focus on the interview now and try to secure an offer first😂

Thank you so much for responding. I just checked and no letter on my DS's candidate sheet. Maybe that's because we are 10+. Anyway, we are still waiting.

Yes yes. That's true. How is DS feeling? Any prep? We tried to explain to our DS what to expect for the Trinity interview but gosh he crumbled. Poor thing. I don't want him to be rehearsed, but I wanted to know what to expect as he has never been interviewed.

Thanks @BlueTick . I agree with you. It's about the best fit for the child at the end of the day and where they'll be happy and flourish. Just always hoping for the opportunities and progress in what is such a brutal process for young children. Where are you hoping for? I hope we hear from Whitgift tomorrow.

Yes I really hope we all hear positive news tomorrow! Given that noone is yet to receive a no, I think they come out later .

user1473290348 · 11/01/2023 22:05

Good luck to all you 11 plusers!

Trinity would probably be our favourite so far. We got a feeling it was a very calm school with a kind atmosphere.

That was certainly my experience with Trinity and why I preferred it. Equally, I know boys who went to Whitgift who have been very happy there. I genuinely don't think there is a lot to choose between the two and it is all down to gut feeling (and what offers you get!).

Morning all, does anybody know if the rejection emails have come out? For 10+ or 11+?

Arav123 · 12/01/2023 08:29

Hi all. We have an interview at W (11+, group A9). We also applied for sports scholarship- wondering if anyone has received an invite for one of their sports day yet?

pankajbh · 12/01/2023 09:19

@Arav123 We have an interview at W but 10+. We also applied for Sports Scholarship and received invitation mail yesterday for the Sport assessment . Think 10+ assessment is first that's why they sent mail to us first. Hopefully you will get mail soon.

pankajbh · 12/01/2023 09:20

@user1473290348 Wishing all the best to you.. Hopefully you will get interview invitation today.. just hang in there ..

In the next step email they were saying that invitations will be sent out up until the end of the interview period, they might not email out the rejections until then?
Your DS already has an interview with Trinity, the odds are high for an interview with W too.
I hope your hear today.
Just a thought. Could they go through in alphabetical order? My DS has an early alphabet surname.

Daydreamscometrue · 12/01/2023 10:20

Still no word from Whitgift 11 plus for us. Group J. Feeling a bit concerned.

AC7001 · 12/01/2023 10:35

There was a problem with the booking system yesterday (don't know what kind of problem) but the school needed to issue a new link and we all have to rebook again. Maybe that had delayed the whole process for the 2nd batch and so on.

AC7001 · 12/01/2023 10:38

The email to cancel the previous booking and ask us to rebook with the new link was issued late evening around 8 pm yesterday. So must had some serious problem on the system. So no need to worry.

Daydreamscometrue · 12/01/2023 10:56

Thanks@AC7001 fingers crossed
