Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

We got a trinity full fee offer too. It’s in the email. Very happy as it’s our first choice (unexpectedly but we totally loved it in person). Can’t wait to tell DS. Fingers crossed for everyone else.

Congrats of getting the offer Drizzledon. Enjoy your holiday and hopefully good news from other schools too.

Thanks - we had a no after a seemingly successful interview at City so very pleased that this one came off without any issues, Trinity conversely seemed to be his worst interview! I guess you really can't tell based on the feedback from a 10 year old.

Benchisen · 09/02/2023 14:15

Our email included the basics of which scholarship type and % fee remission, but also said there would be more details about the scholarship offer in tomorrow's letter.

Benchisen · 09/02/2023 12:18

@Zebisko, unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than just the % of the fee reduction - two very different schools so a bit like trying to compare apples and oranges! Ultimately it will be DS's decision.

Good luck with the decision making process Benchisen. It's a good dilemma to have and I am sure you will end up at the right place for your DS.

Out of curiosity, how do they tell you it's a scholarship? Do they list what type and the amount?

OP posts:
Benchisen · 09/02/2023 14:23

@user1473290348 , yes, the email names the type of scholarship and the % fee remission.

AnnieH01 · 09/02/2023 14:24

is this only for 10+ or is anyone getting for 11_

Benchisen · 09/02/2023 14:26

Ours was 13+.

The application portal has just updated to "Offered", about 4 hours after the email arrived.

new13 · 09/02/2023 14:33

@AnnieH01 ours is for 13+ pretest which is similar to 11+ but could be a different process

june79 · 09/02/2023 15:17

Are 13+ results out for Trinity yet?

new13 · 09/02/2023 12:49

@Benchisen congrats! Such great news! Completely understand what you mean by comparing apples and oranges. That might be our position if we are lucky enough to get more offers tomorrow. Good luck deciding!

@Fabfifi sorry to hear that but as said, WLs do move! Don’t lose faith yet!

How did your DS do @new13? Have you heard? I'm still waiting.

Benchisen · 09/02/2023 16:44

@june79 we received Trinity 13+ outcome by email and post today.

june79 · 09/02/2023 16:58

@Benchisen thank you, guess we will have to wait

SandD · 09/02/2023 17:12

Hello, is the trinity 11+ offer also coming in? We haven’t heard anything

user1473290348 · 09/02/2023 19:39

I think they're coming in dribs and drabs. 10+ here and no news yet. I've given up on refreshing my emails and had a word with myself to calm down. At the end of the day, a day or two will not impact anything.

I found out some very bright boys who were up for academic scholarships didn't get one, which surprised me. Competition is fierce of course. But I wonder whether any 10+ers got a few reduction. I've heard through the grapevine that they're giving less this year. If you got something, huge congratulations and you must be very proud!

Fee* reduction

We got an offer from Trinity - Full fees offer. He was chosen for academic scholarhip as he has done very well in the exams. He did the interview fairly well. Anyways We will be declining the offer as he has an offer in a school of his first choice. He wrote the trinity exam as a back up.
So people who are in the waiting list - Be positive. things will move.

Congrats on getting the first choice Lexus1979. Very happy for you and your son! And he's clearly very bright to have got the academic scholarship interview for Trinity.

DS is very lucky to get a 25% offer of academic and music scholarship. They didn't specify the % for each scholarship. We still can't decide now. Really want to try Wilson's for 11+.

Congrats PamZg! You must be thrilled. Take some time to think about it. Wilson's is a fantastic school and there are many pros. And your son is clearly very bright to get an academic scholarship, so he's got a great chance of getting into Wilson's. Which is of course completely free! Wilson's also has a music programme too.

Do you live close to Trinity? If you do, that's a bonus. You could in theory take the place and then move again. Though for me, we don't plan to move and move again. Too disruptive and we also feel kids won't give it their all for 11+ when they have just started a new school.

OP posts:
Seeline · 09/02/2023 22:30

@PamZg the music provision and opportunities at Trinity are absolutely amazing. Your DS must be very good to get a music scholarship.

june23 · 09/02/2023 23:20

@Lexus1979 if I may ask which is your first choice school? Still doing my research about schools. Thanks in advance

WNLastX · 10/02/2023 08:48

We got a no this morning via email for 11+ from Trinity. Still waiting on W.

Congrats to everyone who got an offer, and comiserations to those who did not.

Feel pretty on edge now, was okay till this morning!

Best of luck to everyone.

drizzledon · 10/02/2023 09:46

@WNLastX sorry to hear that, hopefully today will bring good news. I could be wrong but it seems like there were more wait list and nos this year for Trinity. We know of many boys who sat the exam but didn’t make it to interview.

Thanks @drizzledon

We (I mainly, hehe) loved Trinity so it feels like a shame, but am at least now bolstered by the fact that W emails have come through and he has a place there (as well as Dulwich now).

So I'm not going to be too downhearted as I'm well aware now we are in a hugely fortunate position.
