Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

Wondering if any 10+ applicants have heard?

Nothing here and nothing on my Trinity portal. The wait continues...lol

Just FYI, there will be half term sport courses in Trinity on 16th and 17th February.

I will send my son to the football course on 17th.

Thanks @PamZg. This would have been great but we cant make those dates. Hope your son enjoys it!

@Manogna @user1473290348 many thanks! Super happy and proud of DS!

Yes I am referring to the open apply portal. I read on another thread that the portal was updated before the emails came out. I guess everyone will now be refreshing it everyday! I know I would! Hope you all get some good news soon! Good luck!

And no, DS didn’t get a scholarship. We didn’t apply for any scholarships or bursary. If that helps.

user1473290348 · 08/02/2023 14:30

Two days to go everybody! How are you feeling. And more importantly, how are your children feeling?

I'm due to go on a business trip so will miss running to the door each time I think I hear the postman! Hope everybody gets their first choice!

Waiting anxiously but what will be will be. We’ve actually only applied for W (10+) as it’s our top choice and we didn’t want to put too much pressure on- we tried to be relaxed and go with the view that if he gets in, amazing, he can go, and if he doesn’t, we try again at 11 with a range of schools.

maybein2022 · 08/02/2023 14:36

Good luck to all.

London2007 · 08/02/2023 14:54

Good luck to everyone. We applied only for W10+ too. We are fairly calm and DS doesn’t know it’s offer day on Friday.

user1473290348 · 08/02/2023 15:44

Yes, 10+ is easier. Thinking of you 11+ers who are waiting. Hopefully we all get what we want!

My son sat both T and W. That was much more stressful than I expected. The thought of going through 11+ stresses me out.

I bumped into an ex school mum today and turns out her son applied to T 10+. She got a call already telling her that her son didn't make it. I was really surprised (with the result - he's v smart and with hearing earlier). I would have just expected them to let her know like everybody else with a letter. Has anybody heard of others hearing from 10+?

Trinity emails are coming out - though we are 13+ not 10+/11+, not sure if the timing will be different.

For reference, the application portal didn't update before receiving the email (and still hasn't).

Fabfifi · 09/02/2023 11:51

DS on waiting for trinity 😞

new13 · 09/02/2023 11:54

@Benchisen hope you had good news!

To the others, yes Trinity has confirmed that they are in process of making offers to candidates. Good luck all!

new13 · 09/02/2023 11:54

I mean *all candidates

Fabfifi · 09/02/2023 11:55

We are on waiting list for Trinity - not so good news for us

Benchisen · 09/02/2023 12:03

Thanks, @new13 - yes, DS was lucky enough to receive a scholarship offer. However he already has a firm place and scholarship elsewhere and we found Trinity's admission interview processe distinctly underwhelming, so not sure which way the decision-making is going to go.

Just for an idea, is your Trinity scholarship in the same range as your other option. Don't know if all schools offer scholarships in similar range.

@Zebisko, unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than just the % of the fee reduction - two very different schools so a bit like trying to compare apples and oranges! Ultimately it will be DS's decision.

Congrats on getting more than one option.

Yes, I agree all schools are different, and each parent & child will have their own preference due too various reasons, scholarship probably not being one of them.

Still would be interesting to know whether these schools are competitive when it comes to scholarships.

Thank you, @Fabfifi

Sorry that you didn't have the news you wanted - but WLs usually do move, so I hope there is better outcome around the corner for you.

Good luck to all still waiting for news!

Benchisen · 09/02/2023 12:40

Meant to say also - the email header was "Offer Confirmation", so the outcome was evident from the subject line.

new13 · 09/02/2023 12:49

@Benchisen congrats! Such great news! Completely understand what you mean by comparing apples and oranges. That might be our position if we are lucky enough to get more offers tomorrow. Good luck deciding!

@Fabfifi sorry to hear that but as said, WLs do move! Don’t lose faith yet!

drizzledon · 09/02/2023 12:58

We received an offer for Trinity 10+, huge relief!

user1473290348 · 09/02/2023 13:55

Congrats to those of you who got a place. And I'm sorry to hear about the waitlist Fabfifi, but things do move!

I haven't got an email yet and am panicking a bit. Looked in junk mail and refreshed, still nothing. Just have to sit tight I guess.

Out of curiosity, does the email definitely confirm if full fee offer or with scholarship? Or do you have to wait for a letter?

OP posts:
drizzledon · 09/02/2023 14:00

Ours confirmed full fee. I'm pleased it saves us from wondering if there might be a bonus waiting in the letter (which we won't be around to receive for a while!). Obviously a scholarship offer would be even nicer but can't have all!
