Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

The Whitgift email said the offers will be emailed on the 10th. Timing wasn’t mentioned.

Thank you London 2007!

How's everybody feeling? I presume all interviews and assessments have been completed for both 10+ and 11+ now. One week to go for Trinity and 1 week & 1 day for Whitgift.

Hope everybody had a good experience.

For me, I'm a bundle of nerves for my DS. Not that I can do anything of course. And I know it's not the end of the world. But seeing my son's face when he looks at the calendar counting down makes me panic!

Bless your son. I hope he gets what he really wants.
My DS is blissfully unaware. He doesn’t seem to be bothered the slightest, he only asked once when we will find out.

user1473290348 · 02/02/2023 20:03

Thank you @Fabfifi and @London2007.

Honestly, I'm not quite sure why DS wants this so much. I guess I should be glad he has this determination LOL. I'm going to be away for work so I'm hoping I don't miss getting the result when it comes out. I assume they will be via emails.

For what it’s worth, I think results day for both is Friday 10th. Trinity’s website says, “Offers posted 9th February”, to land on your doormat on 10th. With our older son sitting several schools’ 11+ a couple of years ago, all schools’ results arrived on the same day - some by post and some by email. The schools all coordinate to go on the same day so as not to lose good pupils to other schools because they simply make a snap decision to accept the first offer.

user1473290348 · 03/02/2023 07:56

Thanks @parkrunner1. No royal mail strike then so hopefully we will all get letters on Friday for Trinity!

Don’t Trinity email results? We’re going to be away from Friday early morning for half term 😳for some reason I thought they would email us

PamZg · 03/02/2023 11:39

Just FYI, there will be half term sport courses in Trinity on 16th and 17th February.

I will send my son to the football course on 17th.

I think they do both.

Parkrunner1 · 03/02/2023 18:58

Looking back at child 1’s records, it looks like Trinity did both - an email on the Friday that starts, “Following the letter which we posted to you yesterday, we are emailing you to confirm that…”

Either way, it will be Friday 10th that we find out, not Thursday 9th. Hope everyone has some fingernails left by then!

Daydreamscometrue · 06/02/2023 06:55

Anyone have an idea what sort of time Whitgift email results out? Morning or afternoon?

new13 · 06/02/2023 13:18

Hi new here. Just wanted to come and update that Trinity has sent 13+ offers today. Not sure if it is the same for 11+. Good luck everyone!

Benchisen · 06/02/2023 13:51

@new13, is that Trinity 13+ deferred entry (Y6 pre-test) or direct entry (Y8 exam)?

new13 · 06/02/2023 13:55

@Benchisen 13+ deferred entry in 2025 (Y6 pre-test)

user1473290348 · 06/02/2023 16:40

Good luck @new13 and any other 13+ people!

What is this deferred entry? Do you mean kids can sit it now and then they get a guaranteed place in yr9? No further test required?

OP posts:
Benchisen · 06/02/2023 17:30

Thanks, @new13 . We are 13+ 2023 entry so still waiting. Hope you had good news!

user1473290348 · 06/02/2023 18:07

Have any 10+ parents heard from Trinity today? The website says they post results on Thurs but my good friend called me asking me how my son did as a mum from her school just heard.

OP posts:
Parkrunner1 · 06/02/2023 23:09

As far as I understand, the only people at Trinity 10+ that will hear anything before Friday are those with an older sibling already at the school and the younger sibling has sadly been unsuccessful at 10+. In those circumstances, the school will phone the family to let them know, so that the letter doesn’t just land cold on Friday.

That makes sense. Thanks @Parkrunner1

We are waiting for 13+ deferred 2025 entry. Haven't heard anything yet. In fact they sent a letter when interviewing that we would hear only on 10th Feb. @new13 did you hear the news first hand! Wondering what could be different?

new13 · 07/02/2023 11:38

@user1473290348 tks! Deferred entry is essentially the same process as 11+ (same exams and interviews) except the entry year is deferred to Y9. So yes, you sit now in Y6 but enter in Y9 instead of Y7. It is more or less a guaranteed place but depends on the schools (this will also answer your other question). Some schools will say conditional on CE or other exams or some will say conditional on satisfactory school report, no further exams required or some can be unconditional.

@Benchisen yes it was a pleasant surprise (or shock!) as we weren’t expecting anything until Friday! Good luck to you too!

new13 · 07/02/2023 11:47

@Manogna yes we have the same information that we would only hear on 10th so it was quite a surprise to receive it! If it helps, the offer letter was actually dated 9th which is in line with what they said (offers posted on 9th, so we would hear on 10th). I have read on other threads in MN that the Croydon schools sometimes send out their offers earlier than stated date and in dribs and drabs so that could be a possible reason why.

P/S: I also read on another thread to check on the portal to see if there are any updates. After we received the letter, I went to check out of curiosity and status has been updated to offered. Might be worth a try?

Manogna · 07/02/2023 11:58

Firstly, congratulations! Hope your son is enjoying his early win!
It still shows Applied(checked in Trinity-school.openApply if that is what you meant! Even during the interviews we were one of the lasts to be sent the email! And the Suspense continues!

Congrats new13. Great news and less anxiety! Hehe. Did your DS qualify for a scholarship? Wonder whether that's why you heard.
