Hello everybody, starting a thread for parents with children who have applied for 10+ this year.

Interested to know how many applied and were interviewed for Trinity and Whitgift 10+ and 11+ also.

Good luck to all those who are attending 10+ Sports Assessment Today. The morning presentation was quite impressive..

Whitgift. Yes today for 10+.

We haven't heard from the Foundation since DC's interview. Is anyone else waiting on a call? The website says 'you will hear from the admissions team by the 2nd week of January.'

WNLastX · 16/01/2023 18:18

So Trinity emailed about time for the interview. They unfortunately have put it this Friday, despite saying it was likely to be Sat. We booked our W interview on the Fri to avoid a clash! Now we have one... What is the process here? I dont want to get into the game where they say ask your 2nd choice to move...

A little bit sharing about Trinity 10+ music audition. 21 boys are invited to the audition, 1/4 will receive a music scholarship/award. The audition is mostly about the play and sight-reading. For my son, no aural questions or general musicianship questions. Hope it helps.

Just say to Trinity that you can't make that time - you won't be the first. Pretty much every single boy will have sat for both schools and a lot would get an interview to both (plus others).

Has anyone had a Whitgift 11 plus interview yet?

Thanks for sharing. We didn't go for a music scholarship but interesting to know. Well done to your son for getting through to the audition. Did you have to submit a video of a performance before they called you for it?

Out of curiosity, did they say how much the scholarships are worth?

Yes, you need to send a video first and I didn't have the chance to ask about scholarship.

user1473290348 · 17/01/2023 07:42

Thanks @pamzg. Well done to your son. Is that him done for Trinity? Or are there more auditions/assessments?

To all of you who have sons ding the sports assessment at Trinity today - good luck! I've heard it's a fun experience.

Does anyone know what is in the Trinity 11+ interview? The school said it is only 15 minutes.

Also, parents can chat with HM. I assume (being not an academic scholarship interview), we are in a big group and he is not interviewing parents. Is it fine with only one parent going?

RockaLock · 17/01/2023 15:29

@AC7001 are you a Saturday interview?

If so, (at least, in previous years this is what happened) parents wait in a big meeting room while the boys are whisked off for their interviews. There are loads of parents and several staff members, usually including Mr K, wandering around that you can chat informally to. It won't matter at all if only one parent goes.

And if you are a midweek interview, I still don't think it would matter if only 1 parent was there. I mean, we have to work to pay the school fees, so it's inevitable that some parents might not be able to get time off work!

Thanks a lot. Yes, it is a Saturday interview, not the scholarship one. What would be asked in the 15 minutes interview with the boy?

user1473290348 · 17/01/2023 20:50

Hi all, does anybody know if you hear from the school earlier than the 9th or 10th? A parent of a child that has since graduated (so a long time ago) said some offers are given before the set date.

Has anyone had a Whitgift 11 plus interview yet?

We did it last week and refrain from telling you because I guess, rightly, there are numerous formats, as expected as it covers many days. After discussing with a few parents, they are all different. They are respectively asked, math problems, poem comprehension, short paragraph comprehension, no academic questions, scenario questions (what would you do if this or that), subject questions (which subject you like and describe it) etc.... . Hard to prepare.

Also, when meeting with parents, they are willing to tell you your son's performance, not exact score, if you asked.

Daydreamscometrue · 18/01/2023 21:11

@AC7001 DS had his interview yesterday and really enjoyed. We were there for almost an hour. He was asked to read and answer questions. Also asked abstract questions and about favourite subjects, other schools applied to and hobbies.

Daydreamscometrue · 18/01/2023 21:12

@AC7001 we were told his results without asking and he read some of DS's creative writing to us.

AC7001 · 18/01/2023 21:18

Ours was quite short, about 10-15 minutes for DS and 5-10 minutes for us. We were not told about his performance until he was about to let us go and ask if we had further questions, and then we asked for DS's performance. And his answer was not exact score. Your DS must have performed very well. Who was interviewing you and your son?

AC7001 · 18/01/2023 21:29

I think we met with Mr. Beck, but not exactly sure if I remember the name correctly.

Daydreamscometrue · 18/01/2023 21:48

@AC7001 We met with the Head of Admissions and English. He was Mr Michael I believe. It was a late interview at 4pm and we were the only ones there. That's probably why it ended up being longer.

Daydreamscometrue · 18/01/2023 21:53

@AC7001 Ds was asked about other schools he had applied to and where he would like to go. He said he didn't know which is true as he understands an interview is not an offer. He really liked the interviewer as did we.
