6 days to go and starting to get anxious...!

OP posts:

Agreed - they've all done well irrespective of their mark. It's quite a scary process for a 10 year old!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 16/10/2014 09:27

Well done to all the DCs. I woke up this morning and my first thought was "it's tomorrow"!! Apparently the results are already at school, so I'm keeping my distance today, I think.

Hakluyt · 16/10/2014 11:39

Both of my interested parties passed. Shocked to realise that I felt a pang of jealousy as I congratulated............ Sad

SlightlyJadedJack · 16/10/2014 12:27

Just try and keep busy Avon, that's what I'm trying to do but it's not working.

Spindarella · 16/10/2014 12:30

I think it's really natural to feel like that Hak

DC1 already knows he made a mess of the entrance exam for the super selective so is fairly relaxed about receiving the result and while we will be genuinely delighted for any of his friends who get in, and it's a different set up here with not being a GS area, I suppose there'll still be an element of shoulda woulda coulda.

Have result from one partially selective already but we knew that would be a "bad" result and it was. Another parially selective sends its results at the end of this week and the super selective is next week. He thinks the partially selective went ok, but there is literally a handful of places via exam - the rest are faith.

The numbers were always against us even if DC had performed brilliantly in all of the exmas but I just feel bad thinking potentially he has sat three exams for nothing Sad Luckily he loved both of the "local" comps he looked round.

SlightlyJadedJack · 16/10/2014 12:35

Hak, I'm really pleased for you that they passed and I think it's a perfectly normal human reaction to think about your own children in those situations too. Smile

Well done LaQueen DD2! Is that you done with this whole business now then, LaQueen? Envy. We'll have to do it all again with DC2 in a few years...

Well done to your DD2 LeQueen.

Avon I'm same as you, have another DS who will be sitting it in a few years time - just as we're recovering from this one!!

AvonCallingBarksdale · 16/10/2014 14:40

Great.

"Done and bleddy dusted"
Hahahahahahha!!!!!
Oh dear god - its only the beginning !

It gets much worse Grin

Taffeta · 16/10/2014 20:23

Indeed. I mentioned to someone I was going to something on Wednesday to distract myself from the 11+ and she cackled in my face "Yeah, mine's at her first job interview today".

That put me in my box. Grin

SlightlyJadedJack · 17/10/2014 06:10

Good luck today to Bucks people and anyone else getting their results.

Cockadoodledooo · 17/10/2014 07:11

Some remarkably mature attitudes displayed by ds1 and his 10 year old chums to their results, which I was really pleased to see.

Ds1 stormed it, but has totally discounted the grammar as an option for him. "Clones and results machines" were his words about the dc they generate. Actually I'm a bit relieved. At the moment it seems his best collaborative learning happens with the girls in his class, it already gets a bit competitive and testosterone fuelled with the boys. Not sure I could cope with another 7 years of that!

He's a sensitive soul and I could see him being beaten down by the grammar. I'm totally convinced though that the school he's picked will do right by him and build him up. Their g&t programme (not called that but ykwim) is fantastic and the head is inspiring. Ds1 has been there several times for enrichment activities and they seem to know and understand him and his eccentricities already which is great.

Oh and can I brag a bit or is it unseemly? What the hell - he came out of the test and told us he was disappointed that he'd not had time for the last 3 questions on the maths paper. His results showed 94%, which means he got all the ones he did answer right!

InMySpareTime · 17/10/2014 07:26

Wow, 94%Grin well done him.
DD had a little wobble yesterday, she said she thought her friends would get into the grammars but she'd end up at the comp. Sad
I told her that if she goes to the comp they'll be lucky to have her, she'll do well wherever she goes.
Results day soon, first lot being sent today. I hope they arrive tomorrow as DD has a party with two friends who are also waiting on results. They'll all be bags of nerves if results aren't in yet.

lordStrange · 17/10/2014 07:39

Ds passed Smile. So happy for him, mainly because he has been passionate about going to that school. Best of all, a number of his lovely friends will be going too.

Such a relief after that jitter party!

lordStrange · 17/10/2014 07:43

94% Shock that's impressive! I doubt I'd get anywhere near that myself!

CocktailQueen · 17/10/2014 11:25

Woo hoo - dd has passed!!! She sat the Bucks test, and got 135.

Am vv proud of her.

Not bad, given that we only did two maths papers and two non-verbal papers at home to practise beforehand.

She got 150 in English, 116 in maths and 125 in NVR.

(Confused about the weighting though - why is it different for all subjects????)

she's not sure whether she wants to go to GS, so we will need to discuss it soon! :)

SlightlyJadedJack · 17/10/2014 11:28

Well don't to those passing. Lovely news. Smile

Cocktail how have you got your results already?? Confused

SlightlyJadedJack · 17/10/2014 11:30

I don't understand thee weighting, 50% on VR/English, 30% on maths and 20% on NVR. As a mother of a boy I wasn't particularly pleased to hear that! Grin

CocktailQueen · 17/10/2014 11:31

Letter came in the post! We're not in Bucks, so letters for out-of-county applicants were posted yesterday. :)

Rawan18 · 17/10/2014 11:54

Some days I am anxious, others I say whatever comes, comes
