Happy Valentine's day all!!!
Ladymuck I know which school u mean...I spoke to the HT abt it on their open day and he said in case of an offer we can call them up and request couple of days extension for acceptance.

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 09:26

Great news stressed! Or possibly lessstressed!

Thanks Mummynet. Their admissions procedure hasn't been the smoothest this year and I was starting to wonder if they hadn't realised when the state school offer day actually was.

Morning team! Did a bit of overtime last night so didn't get to bed till 4am (as opposed to my normal 3am after an evening shift). Woke up just now. Will organise deckchair in about half an hour, as post's never been known to arrive before 10.30am.

Goodness me, I can barely breathe. Eek!

Does everyone get post before lunch, or are some poor souls having to wait till this aft?

LostinLondon · 14/02/2014 09:45

How on earth am I going to get any work done today? I actually feel sick. Might have something to do with the 5 minutes of sleep I got last night. DH at home today so couldn't decide if I wanted him to open post and then ring me or do it 'live' on phone to me!!! What's worse??

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 09:45

Normally we get post between 1 and 2, but my usual postie is away so this week it has been around 11:30. I have to leave the house by 11:20 today for an appointment in town...

OP posts:
MrsSteptoe · 14/02/2014 09:47

Well, if you will have a DH that insists on taking you for a Valentine's lunch, Muck...

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 09:48

Lost, it really depends on whether your dh has a sense of the dramatic, or is likely to pull open your clubcard statement and start reading the leaflets. Dh never opens the post or answers the phone, so I can't help. [He does have other endearing qualities though....]

Just got the post and we're in.

Good luck to everyone else.

MrsSteptoe · 14/02/2014 09:52

Nice one, chippersmum. Enjoy the relief.

Myriam35690 · 14/02/2014 09:53

Good luck everyone and a big thank you to LadyMuck for starting this thread and all of those that have contributed... the advice and support has been priceless for a newbie like me to the UK secondary school system. No matter what happens we should be so proud of our DSs (and DDs) for getting (us) this far... all that pressure revising, sitting multiple exams, interviews... at such a young age... Well Done!

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 09:53

DH is also waiting for his letter, but it now looks as if that won't come todaySad.

Glad it is good news Chippersmum. Which school did you get?

OP posts:
Southwestmum73 · 14/02/2014 09:54

DS has been offered full fees place at W 10+, OMG the relief!! Wait listed for E, only 20 places available there this year due to their sibling policy. W was our (and DS's) prefered anyway. It's roast peacock valentine supper to celebrate tonight.
Good luck to all those waiting, nearly there!

chippersmum · 14/02/2014 09:56

Whitgift. Fees are higher than we were expecting. Really nice touch though, they send a letter to you and one to the boy. We're going to re-envelope his one and let him open it at Pizza Express tonight. Relief is right, the state school option here is not an option, i hate to say.

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 10:00

Can I be v nosey and ask what the W fees are (this will be next year's I take it?)

OP posts:
LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 10:01

Congrats SW73! And at least the Lake Garda trip is included in your fees!

OP posts:
Southwestmum73 · 14/02/2014 10:06

i think it's something like 17k, i bet the Lake Guarda tip is on top of that! DH will just have to work a few years longer.

chippersmum · 14/02/2014 10:06

of course. the letter says that fees will be no higher than £17340

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 10:08

Lake Garda has always been included before...

OP posts:
Croydonmumtods · 14/02/2014 10:09

Congratulations chippers and southwest. Lake Garda trip for 10+ is included in the fees only need to take pocket money.

LadyMuck · 14/02/2014 10:11

6% increase...

Texts starting to fliter in. Looks like West Purley has got its post :)

OP posts:
chippersmum · 14/02/2014 10:17

We just called the office to ask about the fees; they said that they 'allow' for up to 5% a year and that the fees aren't SET at £17340, but they won't be HIGHER than £17340. I'm guessing that they wait to see how many full-fee acceptances they get before the final actual fee is decided.

MotherOfSuburbia · 14/02/2014 10:22

Eek! £17340! We'd better start crossing our fingers for grammar results in March!

chippersmum · 14/02/2014 10:26

MoSuburbia, that's for Y6 entrance, not sure about Y7 fees.

Somelikeithott · 14/02/2014 10:33

Congratulations chippersmum & SW73. Well done to your DSs.

I recorded DS, opening his letter when I picked him from school last year, so cool to watch his reaction, sent it to DH, who was at work.

Yes LG definitely included in W fees. Just insurance and pocket money.
