Woah! dd2 wasn't allowed a snack at nursery as she refused to say grace

I can't believe I nodded sympathetically when they told me this today when I picked dd2 up. 'oh dear' I said 'sorry she's being such a pain'. It wasn't until I got in the car that I thought 'Hold on a minute...refusing to say grace for a SNACK at 3.5...is this really superbrat behaviour??'

Good luck Enid. Post back and tell us what they say!

Enid · 13/03/2006 12:55

will do

don't worry I haven't been going on and on and on about it JUST here

have told my assistant and another woman at work all about it Grin. Plus about six friends and my sister.

Blu · 13/03/2006 12:56

Don't forget, when you go for lunch with your nice assistant 'for what we are about to receive...'

CountessDracula · 13/03/2006 12:57

How silly, I guess they will say however that it is not the fact that she didn't say grace but more that she wouldn't do something they asked. FFS it's a nursery school not National Service though! Good luck, and PMSL @ sticky willie, we call them that too Grin

cod · 14/03/2006 09:34

enid buckeld under and dd is now a nun

Enid · 14/03/2006 09:47

well they listened very carefully and nodded sympathetically in all the right places!

I reiterated that I understood that dd2 had to abide by the rules but I felt strongly that grace at breaktime was a step too far. Also that if dd2 'forgot' her library book on a MOnday that was MY fault and I didn't expect her to be punished for it (by being made to sit on a mat while the other children choose a book). I said that my main concern was that rules designed for the pre-prep children (5+) were being applied to 3 year olds.

They said they would note what I had said and bring it up at their end of term meeting.

Enid · 14/03/2006 09:48

and they agreed to go easy on her for the time being...

LadySherlockofLGJ · 14/03/2006 09:48

So how do you feel ??

Seems a bit wooly to me.

cod · 14/03/2006 09:48

and hten salgged you off whne you left?

Enid · 14/03/2006 10:17

yes was woolly

I did all the talking

felt anticlimatic afterwards and a bit dissatisfied

CountessDracula · 14/03/2006 12:34

You should have taken your Uzi

quanglewangle · 14/03/2006 16:29

Sounds to me like you were fobbed off.
They hope you will go quietly away and forget about it.

Surely it doesn't have to wait for an end of term meeting? Does no one have any authority of their own? Not that big an issue, I would have thought.

Enid · 14/03/2006 17:07

yes fobbed off

but I will follow it up by asking next term about the outcome of the meeting

still she seemed tons happier when she came out today...

Blu · 14/03/2006 17:39

But did they agree that they wouldn't withold food? Surely they don't have to discuss THAT at an end of term meeting?
They sound v institutional.
