ARGHH! I contacted the lady who won the moses basket.... supposingly she didnt receive an email from me and within those 2 days her sister had her baby and they brought another one elsewhere as I hadnt replied. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me in the last few months- other people have got my emails so its not that. Both have had low feedback (as in they are new to ebay) so wondering if they possibly were trying to scam me. After reading on here (about buyers paying by pay pal, collecting then reporting not receiving the item to get their money back) I will only accept cash on collection so maybe thats why. But then ive got a suspicious mind lol so its probably just a coincidence.
It was a pain cause I had 3 watchers at the time. Relisted it now!
made about £20 the other night one lady won 6 items and collected so made it a bit easier.
I wish I could make the money some of you are lol.

frazzled74 · 17/09/2009 11:51

my total is now £78, must look for more to sell.

frazzled74 · 17/09/2009 12:28

is it worth putting books on ebay ? or is amazon better for selling them? does anybody know, have lots to get rid of.

Tortoise · 17/09/2009 13:29

I contacted Duplo buyer last night and they have replied this time saying will pay Monday. Not convinced they will but hopefully they do (although in some ways i would rather they didn't! Would save me the hastle of parcelling them up)

BakewellTarts · 17/09/2009 14:15

Frazzled I've been selling books via Amazon for some time. Unless lots are listed at 0.01 I prefer it as you can name your price. Also now its fixed postage on Ebay so if its heavy you could be out of pocket. That said I'm going to list a "Thats not my" book on Ebay soon.

Quick update on my overseas buyers issues...the French one has just left (rather incoherent) positive feedback so am assuming that she doesn't want the T Shirts at the higher price and have requested a transaction cancellation via the Ebay dispute centre. Hopefully will all be resolved shortly.

notcitrus · 17/09/2009 19:44

You know when you aren't really expecting any bids and you're dead chuffed to get a bid at all on something? Is it just me who then starts hoping for more and getting miffed when none of the watchers actually bid, even though if the first bidder had bid at the last minute I'd have been really happy?

[goes to wrap items]

Tortoise · 17/09/2009 20:12

Lo Notcitrus. IKWYM. I have had a few items with 12 watchers and only 1-3 bidders. Very annoying!

OP posts:
mel1981 · 17/09/2009 21:28

Ive had loads of watchers lately but not that many bidders. like you notcitrus im happy for it to go at any price - I need the space more.

liahgen · 17/09/2009 23:19

Can I just ask, is it actually worth putting books anywhere cos postage is so much?

I have 2 great sets of Charlie and Lola books and cd, brand new but postage is £7 I 've checked. How do people on amazon manage to make anything if they're selling for 3p?

SNOWBall4girlz · 18/09/2009 12:11

Right I have posted the christening dress to Romania I dohope they like it ! popped a lovely pink hoody in too to make up for the insurance feel mean charging the insurance but I cannot afford a parcel to get lost ..it sold for £19.
two other parcels posted which leaves me clear to start again just need to find my camera now
I have made about £30 just need to add a nougt lol

I am going to list a few books you have to think what the least is that you sell for all in and start the price higher or if lots you can choose freight cant you so you can put in the postal costs accurately ?
good luck charlie and lola shouls sell for christmas pressies have you tried on here ?

Knickers0nmahead · 18/09/2009 21:58

SnowBall, I listed loads of books and only one sold.

Pushchair buyer still hasnt paid.

Knickers0nmahead · 18/09/2009 22:10

BTW I am not listing anything else on ebay after these few items have finished.

Cost me £33 to post today. Take off ebay fees/paypal fees I have actually made a loss.

Tortoise · 18/09/2009 22:29

couple more bits listed. Taken ages tonight, picture upload was soooo sloooowww!
Hoping Animal coat sells well. It is a lovely coat but sadly i am too fat for it lol!

Posted more stuff today - didn't realise how much a 2nd class packet is - over £1! Still, it's stuff out the way even if I only made a few pence, and posted one item to the US for £40.

On way back from PO stopped at church sale and now have entire wardrobe for the next year for A for under £15! Now just need somewhere to put it - can't wait until he gets his own room!

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 20/09/2009 06:26

a measely £4 last night and I really thought I'd make more, I've decided saturday night is by far the worst night to end listings.

Badly need to do a big listing but it takes soooooo looooooong.

BakewellTarts · 20/09/2009 10:37

Wherethewildthingswere sorry it didn't go as well as you hoped. Which night do you think is best to end auctions? So far I've been doing Monday and Saturday but interested in others experience as I'm new to this. I tend to sell baby / maternity stuff so have figured that most folks who will buy are like me not that likely to be out at night.

Notcitrus I've had my eyes opened to postage costs too...so far have spent £46.86 on postage with my ebay sales. I'm delighted to get rid of the clutter too.

Tortoise did you list those Halloween outfits did they sell well? I've got a baby pumpkin outfit to sell which would be ideal for Halloween and I'm thinking of listing it this week. BTW thinking about the Bob Duplo figure...

Liahgen DD1 has just discovered Charlie and Lola...I might be interested. Any more details...?

I've got another batch to do but need to find some motivation. Will try to find some time this week. My total so far is £191 so feeling pretty pleased and hopeful for £300 by Christmas.

wilbur · 20/09/2009 10:40

I've got a bunch of stuff, to ebay - annoyingly, I was going to do some in the summer, but never got around to it, so I guess all those lovely short-sleeve shirts of ds2's will have to wait til next spring. Or do you think people might buy them now? I'm not likely to make £300 but will join in to see how much I can manage as dh is currently unemplyed so we are definitely on for a leaner Christmas than usual.

Tortoise · 20/09/2009 10:54

Bakewell Not listed Halloween outfits yet, was thinking yesterday that i really should do them soon!

I end any night! Depends when i find time to list.

OP posts:
notcitrus · 20/09/2009 16:21

I sold my baby pumpkin outfit for £4.99 - there were 14 watchers so I was hoping for another bid, but no joy. I got it 1/2 price last Halloween for £6 so can't really complain!

Got some items ending tonight but no bids at all.

I don't end on Saturdays as my experience is no-one bids, so I adjust auctions to be 7 or 10 days to miss Fri/Sat endings.

It's free listing day today folks!

Tortoise · 20/09/2009 16:46

I have about 8 bits ending tonight, 3 have a bid.
Wondering if i should wait another week before listing halloween bits? Or take a chance and list tonight!

OP posts:
wilbur · 20/09/2009 17:35

I've listed a bunch of ds2 and dd's stuff, here. Will do my 6 or 7 things later. Then I have to brave the loft for some other stuff I know is up there.

Podrick · 20/09/2009 17:48

I have zero bids on my stuff that ends tonight

Made £130 last week and this is the stuff that didn't sell relisted at lower prices - it's great stuff so i am wondering if there is less of a market for kids clother on ebay than there used to be?

Tortoise · 20/09/2009 18:16

Wilbur Love the monsoon dress, sadly too small for DD1 or DD2.
Your titles would be better if the size/age was in them.

OP posts:
BakewellTarts · 20/09/2009 19:09

Wilbur just seen your Monsoon dress...I shouldn't but...

wilbur · 20/09/2009 20:22

Tortoise - thanks for the tip about ages, hadn't thought about that. Will do it for the loft stuff. Do you put size of women's clothes in your titles too?

Yes, the Monsoon dress is gorgeous - we got two sizes for a smart family party (bit of confusion with MIL and we didn't want to ask her to take it back) and dd wore the larger one as she liked the length so this one was never worn. She looked fab in it.
